I have tried both and none of them work.

The regedit solution caused the error 1402 error to disappear but another error arrived, the program installer simply hangs now. Thx for the response.

I get an error 1402 error when installing, not when dowloading. I have administrator rights. Can you helP? Running xp service pack 2. No virus or spyware on my pc which is just 4months old

1) Try to log out of windows and relogin as administrator or...

2) hkey_local_machine\software\cl­asses\clsid\{a996e48c-d3dc-424­4-89f7-afa33ec606679}progID

Verify that you have suffficient access to that key, or contact your support personel.

Can you check if that registry exists on your machine? If it does, can you try creating a dummy value in it? (and then delete it afterwards).

The key might be locked by another process/program on your machine.

By the way I called microsoft, but they don't have phone support for express programs.

Here is the error message:

I don't have thay capicom key.

SHould I just create it?

Be careful or do not use regedit unless you are comfortable, as it can mess up windows. I just google the 1402 error until I find something I can understand. If I did not find anything, I might submit support ticket to microsoft at msdn. Wade Harvey
