Hey petarep you forgot the the 96 Kentucky team that won the national championship. 9 guys on that team went on to the NBA. No team has ever gotten close to putting that many guys in the league
Bro...they just don't make college basketball teams like Louisville, Houston anymore. Last truly great team that was athletic at every position was 1991 UNLV Runnin' Rebels. Shyt that is nearly 20 yrs ago.
there was this debate prior to that l'ville game about which team had the best dunkers-----well, all I remember was a whole bunch of tea-baggin served with a side of HUMILIATION for the cards.
If you take any two teammates in the long history of college basketball who both went on the play in the NBA and combine their career points as pros, guess who are at the top of the list.........Yep, you guessed it!
These are my all-time boyz, i was a junior in high school in their day, i remember they played memphis state, drexler jumped over andre turners' head and dunked, that shit was sick, i could,nt believe they lost to n.c. state, it was a good game though, i miss those days.
Yes, it is. I brought that up before but apparently my man don't have editing software to delete Mr. Hall's dunk. Like Clyde said, "Louisville can't join our fraternity."
I do remember Clyde saying that.Either way,I think we both can agree,no team could dunk like Houston or Louisville.Billy Packer said,4 years ago, the '83 Louisville/Houston game was the BEST game he'd ever seen as far as athletes were concerned.Good vid radio187.
I live in Louisville,KY. and I am a UofL graduate.I was about 14 or 15 when the Louisville Houston,1983 NCAA Final Four game game was played. However,a few quick points.Louisvilles " Doctors of Dunk ",of the 70s -80s were doing it first. The 1980 champs had 130 dunks, the '83 cougars had 171 dunks,'83 cardinals around 125.But the ALL-TIME college dunk record goes to the 1989-90 Louisville team(the " renewed doctors of dunk") with 195 dunks in a season.*source-UofL media guide.
The last dunk in this video-by Drexler against Louisville in the National Semifinals in 1983-is the greatest athletic move ever made-before or since-in the history of the sport! Never seen another even close in 26 years since it happened
Watch the LaBradford Smith(Louisville) vid against DePaul. Its on you tube, its ridiculous, but your're right,Drexler got off on my CARDS.Darrel Griffith had one of the best I can remember, circa 1978,he wind-milled on 3 Memphis Tigers, all of them went up,but none higher than Griff, foregt which Memphis player," doom " haynes(?) broke his hand, got caught between "Dr. Dunkenstein"(Griffith) and the rim..ouch.
Greatest college team ever! Troncarter....hammer, nail, head. If they could hit a free throw and the shot clock was in effect, they would have been unstoppable. They didn't just beat teams, they humiliated them!
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!
Fairy lacrosse? I know more about basketball than you ever did and I'm not even 20 yet. I played this game in high school and for a year at a Division III college. I've played basketball at a level higher than you could ever play. Look at the way he takes a dribble picks the ball up then dribbles it again at 0:28. Next time pay attention before you open your mouth chump.
It is true that Guy Lewis slowed the game down way too early in the title game against N.C. State in 1983. Is there a better example in major sports history of a coach playing not to lose more than to win in a big game?
Yeah, I remember seing the 1983 final four highlights on espn (89 and 90) with the UH/VILLE' game as a kid and getting PUMPED. That was the best time of sports when things were UPTEMPO! (look up BRAZIL 1982 WORLD CUP). And of course ITALY (brazil) and NC ST. and to screw it all up with a win by result not by art. At least Hakeen and Clyde won a NBA title.
this is my favourite clip on youtube . . .i watch it everyday almost cause the power and finesse of those dunks gets me every time! and not to mention the music is dope.
Great reel! You know that there's a clip of Louisville's Jeff Hall (#42 red) throwin down in the famous Doctors of Dunk game from the '83 Final Four. Just check out the 00:35 mark and you'll see what I'm talkin about. I remember living in Moody Towers as a freshman and going to see those guys at Hofheinz. I had never seen anybody play like that, pro or college.
"Luchini pourin from the sky lets get rich. What. The cheeky vines the sugar dimes cant quit. What. Now pop the cork and steam the vega and get lit. What."
O jeez. Clyde was my boy. if Phi Slamma Jamma could shoot free throws and the shot clock had been in effect that didnt allow teams to just milk clock, they would've won 2 or 3 ncaa titles.
And if sweet olle Guy Lewis had brought his team out of that lame-brain 2-3 zone in the Georgetown and NC State Games, and if Guy Lewis understood hoops strategy anywhere beyond rolling the ball out to his athletic studs. Ole GL was good ole guy and great recruiter, but he hadn't the slightest clue when it came to the Xs & Os pt of the game.
People forget that this team made 3 straight Final Four appearances!
