I'm on a program, too! And I did pretty well, but I'm waiting for the tax refund for my emergency fund...the cash thing. I leave all debit/credit cards at home and add up what I'm allotted for the week or two weeks and get all that cash out and then I'm done until next payday. If you run out, you run out and believe me, you only do it once! Well, okay, maybe twice. lol Good luck! I think it feels good to attack this puppy, even if it is a process!
It sounds like you're staying on track for the most part... or semi on track which I think is a pretty good attempt first month in. It's the daily spending that's the most difficult to track I think..like a pk of gum here or a coffee there. I've never tried wholeheartedly to do that but I've see programs where they suggest (like you stated) that you use only cash for a month or two...and carry a small notebook in your pocket and write every single thing down to learn your trends etc. good job!
Ok I started this when you told us about it. in the past month we have had a our baby ER fund but have to rebuild it cause our fuel pump went out and was 704.00 to fix thank goodness for the fund being there. I have paid off 4 credit cards & still have 2900.00 left oweing on the rest but my problem is I refuse to cut them up so this is a fight with the hubby & I cause Dave states if you dont this wont work :( As I pay things I mark them off with a happy face on my budget board so I see it daily
Congratulations on starting this program. You seem to be doing quite well. And I know the feeling of being able to pay for that fuel pump with cast from the baby emergency fund was wonderful. The first time we had an emergency and didn't have to freak out about how to pay for it actually made it less of an emergency. No panic....no freak out. I hate to be harsh, but yep....the credit cards have to go!!! You have your emergency fund, why do you need the cards?? Good luck!
I ordered the TMMO audio book and the real Financial Peace book. I also got a TMMO journal. I have not opened them at all yet....As I tell my students, "Procrastination leads to Devastation!"...so true.
