no one in country has a distinct voice anymore. George didn't sound like Waylon, Loretta didn't sound like Dolly. These days, turn on the radio, and you hear only 2 different voices: the man voice and the woman voice. Everyone sounds the same!
@steakdiaper Sometimes I feel the same. And I tell myself : "That's what old people used to say !" So I listen more to the music of today, and rarely, I found a little pearl in those new sounds. And it makes me think the World is still going round.
If you ever get the chance to visit his brother James, in their hometown of Littlefield, TX, at his store/museum "Waymore's", you should go. You can see a lot of Waylon in James, and he's a nice guy that is very proud of his brother. He drove me around town. There are things in his museum you can only see there. RIP Hoss!
I was only 4 when this was on tv. I might have been watching it, but don't remember. I sure remember about 15 years later, seeing him in concert. Same great playing, just a different look and some new sounds.
@rexanater I first saw Waylon live in 1980 at the Wheeling Civic Center in WV - he was incredible. No one better than ol' Hoss - he is greatly missed.

this is when waylon was at his best. i like this time period much better than the "outlaw" thing he did in the late 70's.

Waylon was not only a great singer, but a bad ass guitarist as well. I love all the little licks he throws in on this version.

Waylon Jennings is the only man worthy for doing this Gordon Lightfoot song. Waylon is a giant among men.
