  • Uncharted 2 rocks! =D

  • oh who gives a fuck about how the game was made, its still one of the best game i have ever played :D

  • omg lets all fight about CG. god who cares, it was a great game, and if u didnt like it then return it and go play xbox.

  • so basicly the one reason this was even fucking nominated was because of the graphics and that people would shit themselfs if it didnt get picked.

The game was good, but 90% of it you can just sneak past everything.. unless you suck and someone finds you. Oh and the online isn't that great.. FAL = FAIL in UC2

  • wtf @ the dancers.

  • its a shame half the game was CG =/

  • um, no. it was all in game graphics. even the cutscenes.

  • not really, check the loading time on the scene(from the gallary) vs the time it takes to load the same level normally.

also you can tell that the lighting and models are upgraded in cutscenes

  • @DoCWaSaBe CG is computer generated, not using the actual engine. all the cutscenes are made by the Naughty Dog 2.0 engine. if you saw the VGA's, the star wars force unleashed trailer was CG, not actually using the game engine. it takes longer to load the scene in the same level normally because it loads the next level while the cutscene plays. it doesn't have to load a whole level when viewed via gallery. i've read COUNTLESS articles. models are optimized with the engine during cutscenes

  • mate its video, there is NO WAY, that much content is streamed within a few seconds(under 5). do your research on it and take a close look when you run a cutscene is running

  • yea it's possible. i DID do my research. a lot of content can be streamed off a BR disc. a LOT more than a dvd. look around and find any article saying the cutscenes are CG, because all the articles I've read from IGN, Gamespot, 1up, Gamepro, Gameinformer, etc, never say the cutscenes are CG. also, Uncharted 2 utilizes a lot of the PS3's processing power. God of War 3 is a 60FPS streaming game. Killzone 2 is completely all realtime, except for the CGI intro. i'm not gonna even try to argue -_-

  • ps3 bluray faster than DVD =P? nice one man, check out the speed in Mb, and post it here vs a +x20 dvd reader

    ;)

  • i don't recall saying it was faster than dvd. 0.o i said a lot of content can be streamed from a BR disc, specifically HD content. i'm just gonna stop arguing, I know for a fact that U2's cutscenes are in engine graphics, and not CG like Prototype's cutscenes. honestly, it is, look it up.

  • but before i stop, i recommend checking out gametrailers(dot)com and watching uncharted 2 behind the scenes III: Making the Cinematics and skip to the 6:39 mark. :)

  • It's all the game's engine. Do your research before making retarded claims.

  • so i guess logic can sit aside as long as your accept what you hear blindly? jeez u guys are fanboys

LOOK CLOSE to the cutscenes and you will see compression artifacts, like any other video would have, matter of the fact it doesnt matter if the video is CGI, FMV or watever, in the end they all take up the same space once compressed and put on disk, and they compose of running them like movies(NOT ingame).

  • Just because they are videos does not mean that they were not made in-engine. The whole point of having them in videos is to allow the game to load while playing a cutscene.

So once again, there is no CG used in Uncharted 2.

  • LOL wat do u think CG is? pre-rendered video

and wat about FMV? pre rendered video

and hey lets see uncharted 2 cutscenes? pre rendered video

its all the same, you can google it if it pleases u, and i know the whole point was for the game to load, but i was just displaying my disapproval of using pre-rendered videos regardless of wat they are(CG,FMV.....)

so yea, its not 'in-engine', it cant be 'in-engine' if its a video, trust me on that iv even developed a few simple games long ago

  • @DoCWaSaBe pls find a legitimate article that actually states the cutscenes are CG because frankly I can't. :) CG is computer generated and does not use the engine. it just shows how powerful their engine is. only a few games such as uncharted 2, uncharted 1, killzone 2, and assasin's creed 2 do this. seriously list your sources. :)

  • ironically 3 of the titles u mentioned use pre-rendered video for cutscenes, o ya all of them are ps3 exclusives

i gave u proof, video artifacting and load time, if your too blind to see it for ur own, im not gona waste my time here

and the storage media(ie bluray) has nothing to do with HD and otherwise, just the storage space and other unrelated matters, c ya

  • yes, but the videos are made with the game's engine. it's not CG. there's a difference. oh and merry christmas

  • both are prerenderd videos that utilize nothing from the consoles power and the console takes credit for it, merry christmas to you to(my reason to replying)

  • @DoCWaSaBe You are a complete dumbass. Yes some of the FMV's are "prerendered" but they use all of the ingame assets - the high poly Drake is never swapped out with a low poly mesh (even in gameplay) and the same model is used in the cutscenes. All of the cutscenes were done on site and not by a separate company (like most prerendered FMV's in other games). Also - U2 is around 10 hours long and there is about 20 minutes of prerendered footage, making your arguement pointless.

  • tl;dr

  • What's the point of the dancing girls? They don't seem to serve a purpose for these videos.

  • They need to have a purpose?

  • Yes, otherwise you can just put dancing girls in anything and it would, supposedly, make sense.

  • Good point.

I would say it was a design decision—it sets these nomination videos apart from the rest of the gaming sites.

The dancers mimic the style of the given game, kinda like the MTV Movie Awards or the VGAs...minus the generally terrible choices of MTV and Spike, respectively.

  • Well yeah, that's all good but why can't they be as bookmarks. At the begining and at the end? I mean, why in the middle of the review?

  • U2,baby...AWesome

  • R3y: Music choice is a no. Dancing pretty ladies is a yes.

  • Are they the Mr.Destructoid's Angel?

  • this goty shit really, really needs to stop

  • Instead of having these chicks dance around to fill up time you should just talk about the game instead of putting a whole bunch of filler into the video.

  • If you frequent Destructoid enough you'd know these games have been talked about until the sun went down. Along with that, these games have been out and played to death so there really is no need to re-justify their decision for putting it up for GOTY. Just talk briefly about the game and allow the girls to dance for our enjoyment.

  • bot ther hott d00d

  • I'd rather have substance rather than flash.

  • @dadman1988 You mean the games you've played and already know about? That would be such an enthralling and riveting video.

  • GOTY 09-10!

  • awesome!

  • How in the hell can you be negative about a game if you think it deserves GOTY?

  • that is my opinion:P, i had same one for Halo, i didn't like it, but i still thought it was well made game

  • It may well be your opinion but it is the wrong opinion. This is a prime example of thinking one has an opinion on something, goes online and expresses supposed opinion and ends up sounding stupid because it isn't an opinion but rather a nonsensical statement.

  • nonsensical statement?

I never judge games by wether I myself like them or not, I judge them by gameplay, fun factor, graphics, sound etc.

I know that tastes can't be argued about. And that's what I wanted to point out, today there are so many fanboys that they don't give a damn if the game is good or not they will say that it is perfect even if it sucks.

  • yes

  • bang bang bang.

  • GOTY
