A great record however I don't like the way the teacher shows off sexuality to the children some of who do respond in kind; it's actually quite vulgar with more than overtones of pedophilia; at least the American version has less of this though it does still come through.
@kubism1978 I don't believe it was a television series; I believe it was a commercially made theatrical cinema release starring Bernadette Peters and Steve Martin.
I reckon watching Dennis Potter's delightful surrealistic "Pennies from Heaven" is pretty good viewing for anything that ails you, as is the lovely face of Cheryl Campbell!.
@MANFROMMARS46 I believe this record isOrlando but Henry Hall did play at the Gleneagles as well, the female singer here is Phyllis Robins and it was recorded on 28th June 1937.
@POTT1973 I don't think you're alone in thinking that. TV now is such drivel that I'm surprised anyone still pays license fees. I don't have to put up with it anymore though, since I didn't want the new digital signal. Who cares? No tv to piss me off!! Yippee! And there's always this classic stuff on youtube.
If only school was REALLY like that! Certainly wouldn't have minded a teacher like that.
Absolutely wonderful and my favourite version of this song. The kids are great of course. What a wonderful bombshell it was at the time with Dennis Potter inventing new rules for television drama.

Great stuff, why don't we get this sort of thing on the telly nowadays. The last thing I liked was the Dorothys.

@woofer32Thanks, Orlando is a new one to me. I know most of the British bands. Phyllis Robins sounds American.
