Ella Fitzgerald in concert Berlin 1984 part 1

So far as I recall this concert was given April 26, 1984. It was the day when Count Basie died directly before Ella's Berlin concert and I remember the news headline during the live radio broadcast from Ella's concert in the Berlin Philharmonic House. The announcer say that Ella was not informed of Basie's death because the concert management would not interfere Ella's performance.

Paul Smith trio, between gigs with Ella would play at the Velvet Turtle in Redondo Beach. Caught his show many times. He make the piano what it is.....a percusion instrument. Bravo Ella and Paul, love you both. de Rango8
