Well, as a personal opinion, out of all 13 Japanese openings, only this very first opening has a memorable impact on me, that I think really suits the pokemon animation very well for an opening theme that is. I guess if you had no idea what the singer was saying, then this song wouldn't be half bad, but when you look at them it's laughable.
