This tummy tub can last up to a year after birth. I'm from the Netherlands and my mother used to wash me and my siblings in a bucket in the sink till I was about two.
I later got a larger 'bucket' to sit in and play in the backyard. It was very cramped but comfortable and fun. (I remember getting my first bowl of icecream ever from my grand mother while sitting in the bucket. This 'bucket' is professionalized and made safer but by no means a new idea in my country.
No your absolutley right.I was just stating what was the use of this product.I agree with you the baby does need to learn to get used to changes around him. This product is a bit redundant.
Yes it does but what is the sense?how log are you going to imitate such environment? The idea for me was interesting in the beginning but the fact that a child is not anymore in a womb and has a lot of development phases, it has to get used to changes around him and not hold him in environment that he got used to and feels safe in.The attitude will be that a child will get used to changing environment and feel more confident for any changes that will encounter its surrounding.
I got to use one of these for my son, when he was about 4 or 5 months old and he just LOVED It so much! We went to baby massage and they had this tummy-tub for the ending, so the babies could relax and all the babies there loved it too. It was so cute, seeing 4 babies in their tummy tub at once... If i could, I would've bought one, if they were sold around here..
Both my son and I loved this tub.. but only used a few times, cuz of the course.

this looks neither safe OR relaxing! There's a reason God made a way for the baby to GET OUT of the womb...why would you want to simulate something that was meant to come to an end! And are you kidding..have you seen the price? WHATEVE!!!
It it totally safe and wonderfully relaxing! Just ask the thousands of parents across the world who have been using these for years! In Germany, doctors can actually prescribe these tubs for babies with colic and gas. Every midwife has one to use in the hospital to bathe the newborns. This tub is designed to keep baby warm and immersed in the water. Worth their weight in gold!! That is if you care about gently transitioning your baby to the outside world.

I am going to have to agree with this. Why would some one want their child to have to go through leaving the womb over and over again. I think I will stick to the original bathtub thanks.
This girlfriend of mine keeps her baby girl on the detachable car seat at all times. By kepping a folded blanket/bed spread under the baby's back she manages to keep her bbgirl at least 30 dregrees even to sleep at night. No laying flat on her back or bacinets. Just up and comfortable on her car seat. She is doing wonderlfully now at 2 months. Best of luck. Congratulations!
it would be even better if she kept her next to her mum's body, in a sling or soft carrier. Living in a plastic bucket is no way to grow. Plus she is likely to get flat head in the back.
The babies don't 'live' in these tubs and by taking a 20 minute bath you don't get 'flat head syndrome' you get that by always positioning your baby on it's back while it sleeps. (And the ears that stick out like 95% of all the Americans have) In most parts of Europe we lie the babies on their sides while sleeping to prevent that and flat head syndrome.
No that was in reply to soleilss. About her friend's baby in it's car seat all the time. What a terrible way to parent. carrying a baby is a far better way to care for reflux.
Thank you for the comment. Perhaps this sugestion would help you and your baby. I met this maternity nurse while in college for nursing. She'd tell all her patients that by keeping the baby on at least 30 degrees and higher particularly for at least one hour after feeding, would speed up stomacal emptying time and decrease the pressure on such young esophageal sphincters.
We used with our 8wks old baby. She suffers with reflux so it worked well keeping her upright in bath. She seemed quite happy to sit in it. Much easier than a normal baby bath full of water for emptying etc.

This is used to recreate the feeling the baby has when it was inside the womb.

THAT'S THE COOLEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN BEFORE!
Yes, it must make them feel comfortable and safe just as it was in the womb. Wish I would have had one when I was a baby 40 years ago!!!!!

Would any real mother tell me about her experience with the tommy tub? It seems safe and fun, but... or no buts?
