This is just Puyo Pop Fever (I think that be the name), but with Robotnik's face and name slapped on the cover. There was a Kirby game on the SNES that was near enough the same as this too.
@ChrissieGirl Close. In Japan, it was called Puyo Puyo, which was localized in the West as Dr. Robotnik's MBM, and later on as Kirby's Avalanche. Puyo Puyo 2 introduced the concept of offsetting, but since the Western versions of Puyo Puyo never took off, Puyo Puyo 2 never made it to the Western markets.
Much later on, Puyo Puyo Fever made it to the West once more as Puyo Pop Fever. So basically, this game's a rip-off of Puyo Puyo, and PPF is a sequel of the original. Sorta. Kinda.
