There will always be people who out right reject things they dont understand or accept due to their own pride and ego. Especially when it comes to the things of the sprit. @DRDNIBOY You claim that "intuition is unexplainable, and intangible". Of course it is intangible, as is any thought, however, it is quite a leap to claim unexplainable. Can you justify that for us?
As for 'The spirits', well, if I can't test that they exist, how do I know them apart from imaginary things? You seem to suggest that we cannot use observation and their existence is not logically necessary. Why should I think they are here at all?
@ANIideas You cannot logically explain everything!. I would like you to explain inspiration . Or faith. Or what-about masculinity or femininity? What about what power is? These things are all objective. Just like spirituality is. You cannot test it because it is cannot be defined within your limited senses. Did you see the movie Avatar?IF you did do you remember when Segorne weivers character is taken to the tree when she is dying. And she asks for a sample of the tree?
great videos, i have used the tarot for some time but did not know all the historical facts you talk about, very interesting, will watch all of the vids.
Ummm. Sorry, but this guy doesn't speak any historical facts. He is repeating discredited myths - if you are interested in the history, I would suggest the books authored and co-authored by Michael Dummett.
ok, thats fair, maybe i was wrong to say historical facts. but even if they are just myths, myths can be interesting to know about aswell, they will, if nothing else, tell you something about the people involved in the subject.
@twospirit666 It's interesting to know about myths but the myths should be pointed out as myths and not presented as factual. As a player of games including card games played with Tarot, I find these myths to be damaging to the interests of education.

if you are not open minded which you aren't and are unintelligent which is very obvious you aren't then the Tarot wouldn't work for and with you. It's like someone who is built for swimming and can say "yes i am very capable of being the best" but if you can swim then don't bother
Go to pagat dot com and look up tarot. IAMASCREENNAME wants to supress information about the Tarot card games. She is against diversity in Tarot. People play card games with Tarot
Divination with Tarot is a dog-bites-man type story. Nobody has suppressed information about Tarot divination. It is all over the place and has frankly gotten old and stale. Tarot divination has been done to death! If anything has been suppressed about Tarot, it is the fact that the cards were intended for card games and that some people today play Tarot card games.
Oudler I've gotten very very sick of you. All you do is go on any video Tarot related and post your bullshit personal opinions and present them as facts. Okay we get it buddy you don't believe in Tarot. There are plenty of things I don't believe in but I'm not wasting my time by attacking different belief systems. We know Tarot was once and is still used to play games, it's where modern playing cards came from. This doesn't make Tarot any less credible. Go away, asshole.
It's not whether people believe in Tarot as a divinatory art that concerns me. I would like to see Tarot cards play a greater role in our society. I would like to see the cards play a role in the public school system. The existing business model of Tarot needs some improvement. I think a more gamer friendly business model would be more helpful.
@BarbManion - What is meant is that the industry publishing tarot cards and books about them has a business model. That model is misleading to its customers (basically dishonest), limiting cultural diversity, and rather stupidly restricting its own scope for profit by supplying only one part of the large potential market for the cards.
The games are VERY popular in Europe (for example, it is France's second most popular card game) and this is a missed market in the UK and US.
@ANIideas Oh! Okay I get what you mean. Not sure being narrow minded is necessarily dishonest, just, as you say, stupidly unaware. I'm really tired of all the evil/good, occult/religious right. Neither is correct. It's a game if you want it or guide to where you are on a spiritual path if you want that. Isn't the intention the critical aspect? As a tarot reader, this is how I approach my clients. Set your intent and if you resonate with what the cards say - use the knowledge set forth.
Firstly, ask around, I think you'll find that many folk don't know that tarot is a card game.
Secondly, I suspect that many would find this does make tarot reading less credible in their eyes. After all, without an occult origin, reading with tarot is no different in kind from reading with tea leaves, dominoes, knuckle bones, or chicken entrails.
And NO - it is NOT where modern playing cards came from! The trumps were created later as an addition to the existing Latin suited packs.
@DRDNIBOY Of course he wouldn't, nor would I. But there's the rub - there doesn't seem to be anyone with "real psychic abilities". If there were, we would all be believers.
@ANIideas Life desent work that way. Even if God stood before us there would still be unbelievers. If you go to the psychic eye book store, they tend to have very talented readers . Particularly Lynn Christie. She is the best.. Another person who is EXTREMELY talented but is does not work at the psychic eye,is Bob hick-man . But he does have a you tube channel .. its called Sprit channel. But Bob is a medium not a tarot reader. And he answers questions for free. Try him out and you'll see .
@DRDNIBOY If these people are really as good as you say, then let them submit themselves to testing under controlled conditions. Given how extraordinary the claims of psychic powers, this is not too much to ask. I've seen enough magicians (such as Derren Brown) do what they do without special powers to require anything less.
@ZoeMarks I don't use the Tarot or consider 78 pieces of cartstock paper with ink sprayed on them to have any special "powers" for fortune telling or guidance or advice. However, I just love this guy's way of presenting on this topic. I could listen to him all day ! Very well spoken, and sophisticated......a far cry from the usual junk and crap that you can find on You Tube.
@ZoeMarks You are an idiot .. Spirituality is not a scientific experiment. Why dont you go do a scientific experiment on your feelings. Im sure you will find much.
right now. tarot is able to give you insight into your life. what else do you need be concerned with? it's all about the greatest good, and I am looking into tarot now to be able to stay centered. thanks again, for these great vids.
hiccupofirony, use your rational mind to give you insight into human life. It's much nicer to go about life puzzling things out in a realist and natural sense rather than filling your head with unreliable phantoms and muddled fantasies. Fantasy is fun for entertainment, but it sucks to be lost in one!
Tarot is great fun as a card playing game... with all the maligning of tarot the English speaking world has done over the years... it behooves us to at least TRY to learn more about and reclaim the game-playing aspect of these fabulous cards! No need for wispy muddy thinking to pursue that end of things!
Yeah so you keep saying but the history of the Tarot is actually lost and cannot be proven either way. Where can I find the rules on how to play the game, that would certainly be interesting.
The history of tarot is NOT lost! Occultists appear to have a vested interest in preserving tarot's occult mystique. These so-called "college courses" are a good example of this occult propaganda. There is unanimous agreement among playing card historians that tarot's roots are in gaming and not in the occult. For rules on tarot card games, I would Google the terms "jeu de tarot" or "tarock"
It is lost to a degree, I read just about every possible
theory on the subject yesterday. It was very interesting actually, and you are right the most likely explanation is that it started as a game called Tarochi. But the fact it has been used as an oracle for 600 years suggests it says more to some people. And there is one line of thought that says the major arcana came to europe from Egypt (not ancient Egypt).
Yes it has and maybe it did, in ancient India they had a set of oracle cards too based on the Hindu gods. I find it a fascinating subject, I dont understand why you are so negative whatever its history is.
I never said they were. I like the Tarot game its quite nice, but in my opinion using the Thoth tarot deck as an oracle is much much more fun. The attributions and symbolism of the cards is really very ingenious. I would recommend them to anyone to buy and study.
The history of the Tarot is less "lost" than mystics want to admit. Tracing back the appearance of the cards, it has a pretty definite start in the 15th century as a trick-taking game. That puffed up proof of Tarot's mystically acclaimed origins in ancient Egypt or otherwise haven't surfaced is less a "mystery" and more proof of those theorists penchant for wild imagination and charlatanism.
There are two sites I would recommend for info on playing games with tarot... one is (pagat dot com slash tarot) and the other is (tarock dot net). You can even order playing style Tarot cards form that second site! Seriously, Tarot playing-card revival is on it's way! Hop on board and leave your divination nonsense behind y'all!!
Google "Victorian Skeptics" and "tarot" and there's an interesting quote on the topic!"People are often suprised to learn that Tarot cards were originally invented for playing games, that such games are still widespread and popular in continental Europe, and that the employment of tarots for divination and fortune-telling is a relatively recent perversion of their proper use, dating only from the eighteenth century."(The Penguin Encyclopedia of Card Games, by David Parlett)
It is the occult people who are being narrow minded. Tarot's true history has been distorted for a great many years. It is time for the truth to be exposed to the general public. Tarot is really a card game, and it's a fine one at that.
Tarot has no historical connections with astrology or Kabbalah. The Tarot deck was created for playing a trick taking card game. Descendents of the original tarot card game are still played in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. Tarot is really for card games, people!
If you won't take tarot4games word for it perhaps you'll listen to someone who used to believe in the Tarot and used it for divination. Honestly though, these things need to be taken to scientific and historical scrutiny. It's not being closed minded... it's called putting your ideas and rational mind to the test!
Many things that Crowley and EA Waite put forward concerning the Tarot was puffed up nonsense... and put to the test... tarot is incapable of producing any "fortune telling" results beyond what is possible with chance and cold-reading... ignoring all the misses and focusing on the hits... or twisting the meaning to suit the occasion.
Aleister Crowleys attribution of the Tarot to the ten sephiroth of the tree of life is very interesting though. Though he used it for study not for supposed divination. You could argue forever about its true meaning and history though, because nobody knows unfortunately.
Well you should do the research yourself, prove that it is bullsh*t, then you will be able to accurately use the word "absolutely" and leave more meaningful and constructive comments :) Its really not necessary to retract your words because they only highlight your ignorance on this subject.
You don't understand do you? I need to find evidence that says it works, I have looked long and hard and haven't found any scientific testing that says it works. So I'll settle fro close to absolute if that makes you happy. Don't be such a rude twat.
You dont get it do you? You wont find any evidence that proves it works as its a subjective thing that speaks directly to your subconscious. i.e YOU have to use it to test it for yourself. Tho I understand your reality tunnel will probably need a so called scientist to tell you its true or not before you will believe it. And Im sorry love but it is you that is being rude and further showing your ignorance.
"subjective thing that speaks directly to your subconscious" is just new age speak and not all that meaningful. You can lessen my ignorance by telling me where I can't find proof that it does actually work.
Maybe you are the type who needs to read if something is real or not in a book or perhaps New Scientist magazine. If you are interested then buy a tarot pack and prove to yourself it doesnt work, nobody can do that for you. It is a subjective thing that speaks to you personally, as in quantum theory YOU are part of the equation. Or just put your Tarot CD on and forget all about it.
Prove it to yourself? Seriously, it's easy to delude yourself through wishful thinking or be drawn into the fantasies of others. It used to be so with me, I was into fortune telling with Tarot pretty hardcore. It was disappointing when my foundation for believing in the power of these silly supernatural things stared to crumble.
Now, however... I'm discovering that one can still have a fun time with Tarot by re-discovering it's roots as a trick-taking game. I urge everyone else disillusioned by the supernatural to follow suit as well. No need to throw out a wonderful form of playing cards just because the fortune telling aspect of them is fakery!
In a quantum based world you cant be absolutely sure of anything, apart from the fact that this ego based assumption will stop you from learning anything new.
I have yet to see any research on Tarot stuff that validates it. Therefore I feel strongly inclined to use the word "absolutely". You tell me where there is evidence to the contrary and I'll retract what I say.
Tarot is valid as a trick taking card game invented in 15th century Italy and nothing more. The connection of tarot cards with the occult is based on nothing more than 18th century pseudo-history.
a) The images all seem to be of Christian European origin - some specifically from Renaissance Italy. The Female Pope is common to Christian art from about the 14th century. The Hanged Man (Traitor - or perhaps Bad Debtor) from about the same period.
b) Who knows. There may have been a Christian allegory but there's not enough evidence around to guess at what it might have been.
c) Nothing - it was just a game. The images do not affect play at all, which is why they could vary.
zzytrewq: why do you spend so much time cutting tarot down? when you only discovered it(here)while you were looking for 'just another' metal band with the same name!? The only thing you can have or claim to be is of a pissed off ignorance. If you cannot learn from tarot, that speaks negative of YOU, not the tarot. Stop embarassing yourself.
Zzytrewq is not cutting down tarot, because tarot is really a card game. Zzytrewq is cutting down the stereotypes the occultists have created. It is simply common sense, not narrow mindedness, not to believe in the prophetic powers of cardboard.
There will always be people who out right reject things they dont understand or accept due to their own pride and ego. Especially when it comes to the things of the sprit. Because they dont understand they feel left out and being left out they want to bring down anything they are not apart of. You see this most often with religious fighting. Absolutely.

1. First, Excellent presentation.
2. T4G, you are focused on the wrong question, and so the wrong answer. Available evidence shows records of the cards first used as a "game". Great!
3. Here are some important questions:
a) How old are the archetypal images on these "cards"?
b) What do these images communicate?
c) What is learned by using cards in a sequence... as a "game", or in a "reading"?
d) Your case is analogous to saying renaissance stained glass artworks... are just windows.

a) The images all seem to be of Christian European origin - some specifically from Renaissance Italy.
