This album would have been fine if the mix was slightly better. The drums should have more of a defined sound, and the cover art for this album is absolutely atrocious. Come on. They didn't get Ken Kelly? That should have been a no-brainer. Come on, it's pretty bad, and it's KISS too! Is it that hard to make a KISS album cover? Just get a new painting of the band, one that's good, and have that be that. Also, let Tommy be Tommy when it comes to solos. I'm tired of Tommy trying to be Ace.

KISS fan for 32 years here...and even I say Ace has always been an ass. Glad he's gone for good this time. I've stood as a solid KISS fan through all the member cycles....I always hated Ace's attitude and lack of control with the substances.
Tommy looks a heck of a lot more comfortable then he was on the KISS Symphony DVD back in the day. His personality really comes out now. And he and Eric understand their place as employees of KISS. Gene and Paul call the shots.

Look at where Frehley is now, playing clubs, and Criss is all but gone, and KISS now still sells out stadiums and arenas around the globe, I saw them recently in Detroit and they sound so much better now than ever, and another new album next year, KISS is timeless man. Why does everyone pick on Tommy?! He's freaking awesome. Why doesn't anyone ever knock Bruce Kulick? He never even wore makeup, which to me, translates as not a true member of the band. if you want to hear the song that influenced this one, listen to eyes of love. It was a unreleased song sung by eric carr and bruce kulick. Also cool is that the lyrics "when lightning strikes" is also in the chorus at a point where the song could have been named that.
So this in NEW KISS, I'm 37 years old...I grew up with with their old, old shit...Destroyer, Rock 'n Roll Over, Dressed to Kill, Hotter Then Hell, Dynisty, Unmasked, all the old shit. The new stuff isn't bad I will admit that not too many of the old acts from back in the middle to late 70's are able to write new material that is as good or BETTER then the shit that made them famous back then!!!
Tommy Thayer is an excellent singer and guitarist, but on the guitar playing level, he's no match for Ace. People also seem quick to forget the songs that Ace wrote for Kiss, and the fact that Ace designed the Kiss logo.
I went to see Rammstein last week and I listened to Kiss through my youth, was looking forward to seeing Kiss live but after Rammstein !!! I don't think they will come close

None of the songs on the Anomaly are as good as this. Ace can't even sing. His new solos are weak and lazy. Tommy is better and this proves it. Tommy has melody and thought put into his solos, not just random notes.

True. I really like most of Ace's contributions to the KISS catalogue. Even though Psycho Circus was 'meh', I thought that 'Into the Void' was an excellent tune.
Tommy sounds absolutely nothing like Ace, and that's a blessing. Tommy is far and away a better singer than Ace. Ace tends to be a very monotone singer and this song single-handedly blows away everything on Anomaly.
Really.. I would say the Ace's is hard rock and the Kiss album is closer to pop. This song is good, but not as Kiss claimed.. Sounds nothing like Rock-N-Roll over, Destroyer, Love Gun.. Sounds more like they did in the 80's with leads that contain 50% Ace patented riffs.
Opinions vary, and I disagree with your assessment. There is a lot that is reminiscent of their early sound. Listen to the chord pattern in Danger Us, and then listen to Take Me from RARO. Listen to Yes I know. If it were more poorly produced, it would fit right in on Dressed to Kill. I think that the superior production values distance it from the 70s material, but the feel & structure of the songs have a much better vibe than their 80s material.
KILLER! Tommy fits in KISS perfectly. He has the right attitude, the talent, the voice and he checks his ego at the door (same goes for Eric)... long live this lineup. The song is forgettable, but it's miles better than some of the crap KISS put out in the 80s (Betrayed, Boomerang, Bang Bang You...)

Tommy and Paul wrote this song, and its kicks ass on anything Ace ever wrote. Ace sings like he has a beer in his hand most of the time, and Tommy wrote it with spcacy analogies for a reason, he's the spaceman now.

Tommy sounds absolutely nothing like Ace, and that's a blessing. Tommy is far and away a better singer than Ace. Ace tends to be a very monotone singer and this song single-handedly blows away everything on Anomaly.

Really.. I would say the Ace's is hard rock and the Kiss album is closer to pop. This song is good, but not as Kiss claimed.. Sounds nothing like Rock-N-Roll over, Destroyer, Love Gun.. Sounds more like they did in the 80's with leads that contain 50% Ace patented riffs.

Opinions vary, and I disagree with your assessment. There is a lot that is reminiscent of their early sound. Listen to the chord pattern in Danger Us, and then listen to Take Me from RARO. Listen to Yes I know. If it were more poorly produced, it would fit right in on Dressed to Kill. I think that the superior production values distance it from the 70s material, but the feel & structure of the songs have a much better vibe than their 80s material.
Just my opinion.

Not my cup of tea. Tommy's a great guitarist, but I just don't feel that he's that strong of a vocalist. Just an average song to me.

Awesome song!
One of the best on the album.
Tommy has a much better voice than I anticipated.
His solo work on this album fits in so well, he's got the right groove.

KILLER! Tommy fits in KISS perfectly. He has the right attitude, the talent, the voice and he checks his ego at the door (same goes for Eric)... long live this lineup. The song is forgettable, but it's miles better than some of the crap KISS put out in the 80s (Betrayed, Boomerang, Bang Bang You...)

Sounds like Tommy has some talent as singer and guitar player but obviously this song was written by someone else. Lyrically it is totally generic and impersonal. Just a commercial. They tried the same with Ace on the last album making him write songs with a bunch of space ship analogies. Good luck Tom. I am an employee too.

Tommy and Paul wrote this song, and its kicks ass on anything Ace ever wrote. Ace sings like he has a beer in his hand most of the time, and Tommy wrote it with spcacy analogies for a reason, he's the spaceman now.

YES! A NEW KISS VOICE! So glad that Gene and Paul turned Eric and Tommy lose on some vocals. This is so much better than I feared would be a Tommy vocal...he really has chops!
