The way I see the ending is that it's human nature to want to fix things and she couldn't let that one little imperfection of the hair go. When an artist starts their art one of the hardest things to do is to know when to stop and say it's perfect. And when you fidget with things like art. Sometimes you just make them worse . When in the long run they were as perfect as they could get in the first place
@AMidgetNamedFunSized I think you're on the right track. But, instead of this referring to an artist's work, I think it's more about how we tend to destroy great relationships.
I worked on this for a few days in set construction and painting but didnt get a credit. The art director Grant Major went on to get an Academy Award for art direction in Lord of the Rings. Lots of names that have done well 20 years on.
He's one weird looking fucker !! Great film. Why don't chanel 4 show stuff like this anymore ??? This is when it was good. Now it just shows shite like big brother and other exploitive trash !!! Nothings the same anymore.
Totally agree. Channel 4 used to be great for short films, animation and artsy stuff. Occasionally pretentious but never dull. TV's so asinine these days, it's a shame loads of people will never get exposed to stuff like this, just soul-crushing reality shite. Any Channel 4 commisioning types happen to read this, pull your head out of your arse and start showing proper stuff again. You know, the reason channel 4 exists in the first place. Check your remit!
When she touches his neck, it's like she finds his off-switch, and when she pulls the tiny hair he dies. The hair keeps coming out, because (i think) he's made of hair.
I know that this movie is all about metaphors. Thanks for clearing up what happens at the end. What I can't understand is why she would want to kill him when she clearly was very lonely which is why she created him in the first place isn't it?
Because she's reminded what he's made of - that he's not the beautiful man she's been trying to make him? And so she has to kill him to not deceive herself and be caught in a false dream with the muck from the drain?
Wow! impresionante! y tan sencillo! nomas que no debió haber censura... ser mas natural a la hora de rasurar al tipo... el underware se me hizo una ofensa que subestima al espectador, todo lo demas es excelente!

great to finally watch this spooky little film,
my hubby watched it on channel 4 years ago, and told me all about it.
the more spooky for being shot in black and white, and the choice of actor for the "man" was superb. Very primeval.
The idea of the hair being pulled out of the man, being another monster was the grossest part.
excellent.

She creates him and she destroys him.

I thought the hair becomes another one

Yes, could be, but the second one would be doomed to die because there's nobody to make him alive.
