i live in new zealand and i see them all the time diving. there not somthing u wanna get a hold of there extremely inteligent creatures!!!! and unbeleavably strong.
I went to Sunrise once. One of the best dives around. Saw at least 4 GPOs with fist-size eyeballs. The first one I saw was too close, I tucked into one of the coves and looked up and it was just right there a foot away.
he changes color, thats amazing. if you're following one of those things and it changes color it's a good time to get away, because it's probably mad or soemthing.
I hand-caught several juvenile Octopus (In Dana point I think?)stranded in tide-pools during the lowest tide of the year a long time ago. Needless to say I wasn't aware at the time how far, and with how great of volume they were capable of shooting ink out of water. . .
personally i'd be scared shitless if i did this things like octopus and bugs and stuff creep me out! the water and sea floor looks all dirty and weird...where was this shot?
you are stupid that's not even giant

This is a very small octopus. I suppose it is a juvenile, but still - a bit of a misleading headline

They blend in to their environment really well.

Personally, I wouldn't want to follow one of these around. Even if octopus attacks ARE rare.

Just type "shark vs octopus", the shark's not a great white, it's about 4 feet long but it is a big octopus and it's pretty impressive.

'giant' is part of the species non-scientific name. If it was an inch across it's still be a Giant Pacific Octopus.

btw, isn't it creapy to swim so close to one of those? :P they look yucky ^^
