we watched this film in geography today, its bloody amazing! very well written and the locations were fantastic. the soundtrack was the best, it all fitted it so well! there isn't a song on that soundtrack i don't like! the best thing about the film though was the fact that it was such a big eyeopener, things depicted in that film happen IRL in real slums, and most of that film was filmed in real slums in mumbai, and the children were slum kids. definantly a must see film

I agree it had the best director, but in no ways, u can claim that this is a british movie. ManojShyamalan directed the movie "The Sixth Sense". But does that make his movies Bollywood? No..

Wouldn't have been nice if the goal of the movie was to direct as much money possible to the kids' families, but maybe it was. I didn't do the math, but money runs out quicker than expected usually, especially when spread thin.

I'm pretty sure they set up a trust fund for the child actors they employed so that they could get a proper education and have some chance in life.

And if this film did anything it was bring the world's attention to the plight facing these communitites - and if only 1% of that audience kept caring when the credits rolled, won't that have an effect? This was a very popular film, and as cynical as you can be about DB's motivation, the publicity it created for the cause was immense.

They did their part. they brought it to light for those who didn't know it was going on. unfortunately they couldn't manage to just go in and stop it like Am tried to do with the war. this is deeply sewn into the fabric of their society, and ours in it's own way (even still theirs is ours). it takes a lot of people and a lot of change and sacrifice to make that happen.
