I think techniquely Jess is the better singer... but then again Jessica doesn't do any dance routines in any of her songs like Britney Spear...... however Jess mainly sings the love Ballads so theres no need 4 her 2 do dance routines.

yes she was lypsincing and I understand why she would be. #1 it's being recorded for live tv and #2 it was her first live televised performance ever. she performed this weeks before the video had even come out. the song had just hit radio.

I have many friends who have seen her live and attest she can sing live. However this was not one of those times.

I was at this show. She lipsynch the entire performance. Her intro was not to her liking and she asked to have us redo her intro with more applause and then the vocal track didn't start so she got upset and kept the mic at her side while the song played.... both times I've seen her she lipsyncs and throws childish fits

I saw her the next year and she ran off stage and threw the mic on the floor for the same reason during the intro and even came back and apologized afterwards at 93.3 Your Show.

A lot of people who can't reach the notes sing the song, lol. In fact, I haven't heard anyone sing the song who DID reach the notes (in the original key).

I agree Jessica isn't GREAT, as her technique disallows her to be. But her belting range by itself is GREAT, and could be even better if she learned how to project her voice correctly.

true....TLC are definately not class A vocalists...but you don't need to be a great singer to judge an artist..if you have a great ear, so be it. they weren't the only judges, cory rooney who's a producer judged (i don't remember another singer leaving the competition). i agree about jess's technique and range, to me she looks like she's hurting when she does all those body acrobatics while singing and not just in this performance.. and we will just have to agree to disagree about the key.
