gavin i use a nikon, yes i know i know but i love em, they're awesome....lol..anyways, what would you conside to be an all round all singing and dancing lens?
Gavin my name is Jose i enjoy watching your videos no nonsense aproach you remind me of a sniper takes few shots but those shots are right on the money keep up with these great video's
Hi Gavin, I love your 15 minutes photo challenge series... I noticed that you use mostly cropped frame camera and various camera bag and straps. Do you use cropped frame body because its lighter and smaller to carry around compared to the full frame 5D? Among the straps which one is your favourite for travel photography, the standard strap, quick strap on your shoulder or the handstrap?
The pictures you show on the videos are they the orginals or the ones you have photoshoped? you are really good! I prefer to use Nikon, i have the D3000 i love photography, and tips?
Hi Gavin! i just got myself a dslr and I was looking thru some videos to help me take better photos. Your videos have been very inspiring! I am so amazed on how you can see the beauty in everything that you see. Thank you so much!
Wow i always hated looking up and making photo's of buildings tops. But i can now see that you can get quite fabulous photo's of it. I'll definitely give it a try next time im on vacation. And i love your eye for detail. You are a true professional, i hope i get there some day! Btw love the photos on 2.28 and 5.26!
Gavin, I noticed you mostly shoot whith your trusty 24-105 on a crop body. I'm looking into this combination and wondering if you ever feel the missing wide angle oppurtunity (i.e. 17-24mm)
Do you find yourself changing lense more than you'd like? I'm really hung up between two choices, either go for the 15-85, or the combination of 10-22 and 24-105... The 10-22 is allready in my posession... Hard choice,
All that aside i have to say it again was a real blast to see this video of yours.
Great question, unfortunate response (for me who doesn't shoot in RAW!). The pictures came out beautiful! Now could you take those same pictures in jpg and have the colours come out looking as intense as yours did without the use of photoshop or would you need to do some tweaking with photoshop?
Thanks for the great videos, I'm a huge follOwer now!
@PhotoGavin clarity and blacks u mean.. it would be awesum if u have a tutorial on editing landscapes and architecture shots.. thanks i love ur videos!
@PhotoGavin That´s interesting.. Because I was just thinking, the amount of work you must put into Photoshop.. For example that door knocker at the end, it seemed almost lit with reflectors or other equipment of some kind. Real vivid for sure
Can you please let me know the name of the devise that you sometimes attach on hot shoe and can trigger speedlite remotely. I wanted the exact name. I went to this shop today and they have various different types but very expensive :(
Hi Gavin, at 3.55 you show a finished image which has a painted effect, I've noticed a lot of studios doing this effect now, can you please do a tutorial on this.... love the vids, keep it up :)
Ok 1) ive never seen someone look so cold in all my life ..lol 2) BBC should give you your own show becose i love your vids and i dont even use photo shop 3) Get your ass down here to Australia mate u will never be cold again and ill take you to some amazing places, we will fill a 16gig MC in 1 day lol .. Hit me up gav .. Photo Gav best channel on youtube and i got my SLR batts charged waiting for you to come down under ;)
Thank you Gavin for the great stuff you put together and share with us all! Love the Bach musical piece, it's one of my favs. Going over the flickr to check out your catch o the day
hi Gavin, Great tutorial. Could you do a tutorial on architecture photography, as in what points you tend to look at in a building when you take a picture.
The sky looked really bright and washed out while you were walking around. Can you please do a tutorial of how you made the sky so rich and blue? I'd also like to see how you popped the texture in quite a few of them. Thanks!
The video camera didn't really do the place justice. The blue sky was there, yes I helped it along with a vibrenct boost. The basic technique is photography (not photoshop). Keep the sun at 90 degrees to your subject to maximise the blues.
Some very nice shots. You look freezing though =P Were you shooting in automatic mode or manual? I didn't see you go near any settings when you were shooting.
Gav, why would you just do 15mins? i used to love driving through the town.... if i could of had the chance i would of spent all day there... it is a beautiful city
My guess is 15 minutes is as much as most people spend in one spot before moving on, so I make these videos to show what's possible in a small amount of time.
I'm so glad you mentioned this in one of your earlier videos. It's probably the best piece photography-related advice I have been given. RAW has forced me to put a bit of time and money into my storage and back-up needs (they are so big), but it just makes it so easy to make a photo look so much better!
Great tutes Gavin, Any chance of putting the aperture and speed settings on the images - would love to know what settings were used on the chair shot.
hhahaaha window ahaha, gavin you should be an actor!

Thanks.

Hey. I'm guessing he's put up the "Blacks" and "Fill Light" slider a lot in Adobe Camera Raw. This tends to give that kind of effect.

You're best bet is to use a good polarizing filter (hopefully you were referring to 'without filters' as in Photoshop).
