  • The cops could not have done a better job. They didn't do anything wrong. The cop didn't put anybody in a headlock, he didn't swear or raise his voice, he talked to them about it, gave them some options and time to think it over. Any cop would've been in his right to say,"you need to go downstairs. No? Ok.", take the sign, write them up and go about his business.

  • @unlimited647096

The First Amendment only applies to the ground level?

Gee... I don't remember that part of the Constitution.

  • I support the Walker recall, but these Parents are wrong.

Why are they asking their kids if they want to break the law?

Parents are to teach kids right and wrong for Gods sake.

  • Follow the rules bitch! Don't use your kids as political fodder you union thug bum!

    YOU DEMOCRAT SCUMBAGS LOSE!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAAY!

  • @falcondriver100 yeah you redneck, racist, Fox hate machines are some prizes.

  • @krista8527 ROFLMAO......... Typical leftist piece of shit. "I'm too ignorant to debate what he has to say so lets just call him a racist & a FOX news watcher"..........Haha. Piss off ye dumb bitch.

  • @falcondriver100 you are a fucking low class white niggar, plain and simple.

  • @krista8527 Take a look in the mirror you trifling trashbag. You're ignorant, uneducated dumbass can't even spell on a 4th gradel level. You're so stupid that YOU call ME 'racist', then drop the "N" word(misspelled of course). ROFLMAO!

  • I hope the whole family is still in jail just for being poopheads. That's it, Madison, WI, the home of the Poopheads.

  • Also.. I love how the wife tries to act all strong and badass yet talks in the most timid voice ive ever herd.... Then the dad ques in with a response that he was probley reciting in his head over and over in hopes he didnt mispronouce a word he didnt know... all for the worst mosth unexciting climax of the two kids just handing over the sign... WTF cool was it really worth it??? yaaaaadumbfuck

  • Im from Green Bay WI and its these retarded people (parents) that emberess Wisconsin as a whole. Im all for freedome and speaking your mind, also protesting for what u believe in is awsome...... but, dont be fucking stupid the officer was being nice and telling you that you cannot occupy that spot. There was a set place to potition and they could of held thier signs with pride in the set location. What point r u trying to prove other than that ur stubburn. (GO PACK)

  • @PatriotTexas Gee, thanks, I'm a country girl. We actually grow real food on our place that. We contribute to the economy of our community.

But... I also have a brain and an education. What is it that you do that makes you so high and mighty? Obviously it didn't entail studying spelling or reading the Constitution.

  • These are two young brave patriots and I support them and their parents in seeking to uphold our Constitution and freedom of speech.

  • @PatriotTexas - The very poor; going to die. The very disabled kids, adults; going to die. The very sick kids and adults; going to die. They are just thinning out the population right? Of course you have to lower the bar by getting rid of those "great" wages and benefits the civil workers get. While, killing unions, the only other major contributor to political campaigns which in turn gets rid of democrats. So then, just a bunch of righties and corporations. 60hr/wks & min. wage. Love it!

  • @PatriotTexas - And Patriot, in case you didn't notice my other post, I'm totally on your side now. I completely agree that we should cut everything...just cut it right out. I don't really care anymore. Like I said, cutting social programs, increasing taxes on the middle class, letting corporations get tax refunds and send jobs overseas; cool. Seriously, as the baby boomers are now retiring, they won't have the health insurance, nor social security and they are going to die; along with many.

  • @PatriotTexas - COMMENT, COMMENT, COMMENT ;-)

  • @PatriotTexas - Yikes! A bit touchy are we? Please remember you were the one who used the negativity on me first so don't be surprised if someone lashes back at you. I guess I really upset you! Look, if you want people to take you seriously, you need to act like an adult rather than a punk, using ignorant language. Yep, unions buy people as well as the filthy rich who own corporations that actually get tax refunds. Sadly, that's the way it is for now.

  • @EarthMomWI You morons should have more polite when I tried to get along. I'm no punk by any means, you are my enemy and I am a very vengeful one toward libtards. Your a dollar short and a day late of convincing me libtards are nothing more than piles of dogshit.

  • @PatriotTexas - Well you certainly do seem to have a chip on your shoulder although I'm not sure how we liberals could have possibly done you wrong...I mean, we just want you to have a great job, excellent benefits, a pension, social security and healthcare! Not to mention, we want your tap water to be drinkable, your air to be breathable, you house to be toxin free, your kids toys to be toxin free, your food to be edible, let you practice you religion of choice, and smoke pot...in privacy!

  • @EarthMomWI Thank you very well said. It sadly appears we have people in power on our little speck of earth floating in the vastness of space who cannot see what a beautiful place Mother Earth is if we just respect her and the ecological processes and life that share her with us. Thank you.

  • @PatriotTexas - That's reasonable right? Hell, we'll even letcha do all that kinky stuff with your wife, in your OWN bedroom and you won't even go to jail for it! I'm just not sure how we've gone wrong by you...

  • @PatriotTexas I was civil and polite at first way back in 2000, you have some clue as to how long I have dealt with foul mouth libtard morons. What did you expect, I have said many times I have no respect for liberals at all and they earned that hatred. you only one of of ten, put yourself in my shoes and think about the other nine assholes calling me vile names because their naive ignorant fools. what is your breaking point ?!!!!!

  • @PatriotTexas If you want an idiot, look at yourself. You can't even spell properly. Oh, and what is a "libtard", a disgusting choice of words, you have something against Palin's kid?

  • @PatriotTexas Oh, stop blaming liberals because you are an angry, confused coward who can't learn how to be a civil, decent human being. Grow up, boy. Liberals don't need to prove anything to the likes of you. My God, you create your own silly drama. You are almost giving yourself the excuse to be a violent, STUPID man.

    Your ignorance is scary.

  • These kids don't even understand what they are doing. This is not freedom of speech if they don't even comprehend the situation. Using your children with you to protest is not a responsible thing as a parent. The police officers were only doing what they had to do, and I GREATLY respect them for that. I am from Wisconsin, and I have many relatives that are teachers and state employees and yet I still am a supporter of the bill. These workers should be grateful enough to have a job in these times

  • @FrenchieLexie - I have to say that I do agree...after a couple weeks, and now looking at it, having the kids along was not the right choice for a mom. I don't mind backpedaling on that.

  • @FrenchieLexie-As far as the teachers and state workers go, well, I think it's too bad that so many Americans have resolved themselves to lowering the bar for what employment should be. Yeah, may as well just get rid of those good benefits and wages so that everybody else can feel better about the fact that they voted for republicans who are owned by corporations who make it quite profitable to send our jobs overseas. If it makes you all feel better to do that, then great.

  • @FrenchieLexie-This week, with the debates about cutting social programs...I say just cut them. We make quite enough money for our family to be comfortable, so whatever. When they cut medicare, medicaid, social security...all those programs that are protected from their masters on wallstreet, you'll be sad when you see all the deaths that result. But then, when the smaller population is in the greatest of poverty, corps will bring jobs back and you'll take any low wage, no benefit job you can

  • @FrenchieLexie Oh, get real, going after kids now?

  • Thank God the police stepped in to protect these children from their awful parents.

  • Comment removed

  • @PatriotTexas - Oh Honey, you assume I give a dam what you have to say and even if I did, you didn't make any sense in your comment to me. If you have some actual facts that you can cite regarding my lack of intelligence then by all means, go ahead. And be sure to give reputable sources for them. Otherwise, keep your ridiculous babble to yourself.

  • @EarthMomWI Bitch I'm not your honey, keep the comments focused on actual facts and leave personal comments out of this.

  • @PatriotTexas Watch your sorry, misogynistic mouth, you Texas prick. You want a bitch, think of the sorry female who had to put up withat that foolish good for nothing loser you call a father, boy. You know, the moron who couldn't teach you right from wrong. You see, boy, in the real world REAL men RESPECT women.

  • This cop is a low-grade fascist.

I wouldn't have budged an inch for this SS wannabe. I would have refused every mealey-mouthed order and forced the asshole to grab the sign out of the kids hands and wrestle those 10 year olds to the ground like the danger to the free world that they are, because that is exactly what the low-grade fascist would have done. I would have refused to budge from the spot, forcing the low-grade fascist to bodily drag these folks away.

    Unbe-fucking-lievable.

  • The Dad had it right. The US Constitution trumps a Walker drafted Administrative Code every time. What a crock of crap. Good job kids. Stand up for your rights and the rights of all people...

  • @peggyforpeace Glad I got to read a sensible comment after all that emotional union bashing by the Patriot Texas guy who does not understand the Constitutional right of free speech or the value of unions in helping workers gain reasonable wages, benefits and safer working conditions.

  • @PatriotTexas

To be honest. you are seeing other Americans as the Enemy. At the very least you must see others as having the same rights as you...Respect the fact that others have a right to have an opposing view, even if others views seem abhorrent to you.

    I'm just saying.

    :P

  • @PatriotTexas Hi Everybody! This is your future Queen!

Patriot, I agree with you! The libtards are the last barrier to my billionaire buddies running America! They need to go! I know you'll be real happy with my billionaire bosses telling you that your pay rate will be $1.00 a day! They need to cut your pay so they can buy more yachts! I know you'll understand! It's those pesky libs who don't understand just how much my billionaire buddies need bigger yachts!

  • Good for you Melissa and Family! It is an honor to have worked on year book with you one year at East High! We Americans can not let this continue; next year walker is FIRED. No more AUTHORITARIAN CONSERVATISM in Wisconsin or America!

    NO MORE APATHY!

  • Police State !

  • Unbelievable, why was the Officer so passive if it was me I would've given them a couple of secs before the sign was taken down and if they didn't comply they would receive a ticket. I have no time for bullshit like this...

  • @ObamaChronicles because they're kids, asshole. treat them like criminals at this age and how do you think they're going to react to law enforcement in the future? obviously you're not in law enforcement and have no common sense. get some, or gtfo

  • @ObamaChronicles You are in the wrong country dude. Get out of here.

  • @hughster41 Hi Everybody! This is your future Queen!

hugh, the woman runs the show in every family I know of! I'm the Mama Grizzly! Buy a copy, or better yet, a thousand copies of my book! I need more dough!

  • "When the People fear their government, there is Tyranny; when the government fears the People, there is Liberty." -Thomas Jefferson. People why can't you see what our government is doing to your Freedom, it right in our faces but instead you rather wait for the next episodes of jersey shores or the next album of justin beiber. Maybe World War 3 will wake the masses because right now that War is just unavoidable.

  • @310AreaKillaKali What about when the Gov't refuses to arrest Union thugs & actually encourages them to beat up people & intimidate those who disagree?? Like the black panthers in Philly & the union thugs in Denton?? You fucking leftists HATE freedom, HATE America, HATE the Constitution & would LOVE to murder people who oppose your views(if you could get away with it). You use the Constitution when it benifits you. You spit on it, piss on it & burn the American flag otherwise. DEMOCRATS=SCUM.

  • Where "TYRANTS" and we need to oppress our own neighbors in service to the rich!

  • What a couple awful parents

  • This is sick! How can you tell someone they don't have freedom of speech! How is that sign hurting anyone? It's freedom of speech! What Walker's doing is not legal!

  • @musicpassion4life So, by your logic, I should be able to hang a giant banner across the highway without getting in trouble because it's "free speech". I mean, it is a public place, and my taxes pay for part of it. Or, alternately, any public ordinance saying I can't post a sign somewhere, or the sign can only be a certain size must automatically be suppressing my freedom of speech, right?

  • This is the dumbest thing I've seen parents do in a while but wait, it's Madison . . . nevermind.

  • i would love to know what happened to them, anyone have news?

  • yep the cop broke the law and i hope that he gets reprimanded for it. pay attention law enforcement officers, you can't act on admin code it has to be a law, not a policy.

  • @the1tigglet Show me official court documents, you wouldn't that unless you work for that county in the legal department or new articles from that city.

  • @PatriotTexas any retard knows that policy does not = law the most he can do is reprimand her and her husband for not complying with his request, but if you believe policy is law then you can by the san francisco bridge im sure it's on sale on ebay.

  • I'm pretty sure the judge threw this frivolous charge out. I'm just disappointed they didn't call the officer out for violating the law and being a tool in general. Why should we be nice to our oppressors? Good parenting by these folks as well.

  • @ModernPatriotsUnited you are a tool

  • @learnsean You have the right to say I'm a tool and I will fight,be imprisoned and die,if need be, to defend that right. Likewise these kids and parents have the same rights you do and will win their fight in court if there is any justice. The Constitution(thus human rights) IS above any statute or rule made up by a corrupt minority of power trippers.

  • Man I miss living in Wisconsin. In NYC they would issue me a beatdown for doing this

  • Another cop who hates kids.

  • I guess free speech is a crime

  • @williejenkins666 Can you please quote me anywhere in this post where I said anything about unions? I am a small business owner. I have never benefited from a union.

My beef is with the fact that I will have kids going through Wisconsin schools and I don't want them having to go to public schools that are failing over. I want them to have gym, art, music, computers, and all the things I had in the great WI schools.

Walker is giving out giant checks (140 mil+) to the rich, but WI is broke?

  • those parents suck.

  • Hey Master, weren't those protesters whining about the poor police during the protests? I thought you all were in this together?

  • @MaxSheridan Notice in the beginning there were police from all over the state then after a couple weeks there were only SState troopers and capitol police? Thats because the cops from all over the state came down for a couple days and said, "Whoa, I can't be part of this!" and then they started marching with the middle class. Only the SState troopers (because they are owned by papa Fitzgerald and are thugs) and the capitol police because they have no balls were against the people of Wisconsin.

  • @MaxSheridan Also there were thousands of cops marching with us. some of them had on "cops for labor" shirts. Like I said, just those 2 criminal agencies (SState troopers and capitol police) were willing to defy court orders and break the laws they swore to uphold.

Dane county sheriffs deputies refused to, "be Walkers palace guards" and after that all of the other police departments decided one by one they were not either so all they had left were these 2 Judas squads.

  • @TheMasterTate Typical lib answer. When the police agree with you, their your buddys. If they don't, f*** them. Tell me, what would happen if the military decided they "didn't agree" with their orders? What if they started to pick and choose which missions to perform? Do you think you would even have freedom of speech if that's the way things were?

  • tryong to keep them outof site and out of mind

  • Fuck the police.

  • It makes me sick how those parents used their kids to make a political point. They are not teaching the kids about freedom of speech, they are teaching them to disobey authority. Bottom line, this was a premeditated stunt to try and make the police look bad. I feel bad for the officer who comes off looking like a jerk for doing his job.

  • I feel so bad for this officer being put in this situation of having to enforce an insane administrative rule that was put in place by the most gutless elected and appointed officials ever in the history of the state of Wisconsin.

  • i don't care what you believe in or where you live...this should scare you

  • They might need to check this ladies house for some Peace pipe fun. I'm sure this hippy loves the law when it's for her, but like usual disagrees when it's against her.

  • The youth should be directed to follow guidelines until you change them through legal channels...unless the law is so poor as to warrant a breaking of the code. MLK and Ghandi were protesting a much bigger issue than where you can hang your sign. Their grievances met the threshhold of warranting the breaking of law. This did not in my opinion.

  • I would have suggested that my children comply with the guidelines until those guidelines are changed through proper channels. Unless, the law, is so grevious as to make a protest in a strong manner. The request to express your first amendment rights in a different area does not meet that standard in my opinion.

  • Roads are "for the People". "We pay for them and are free to use them". However, there are restrictions on that freedom. The same is true for speach.

There is an attorney there directing the youth...what a shame.

The parents are apparently directing this action by their children. I would assume they have some guidelines in their own home to keep order and respect. Unfortunately they just taught their children that it is ok to disregard rules/guidelines you don't like.

  • State capitol buildings are for the People. We pay for them, and we are free to use them. Personal offices and such are off limits without an invite but the public areas are for our use. We are free to speak our concerns about a bill during hearings, and there is usually an area by which to view the floor during legislative business. Most of the posters here don't even know that much. It's pathetic what people don't know. YOUR parents should have taken YOU to learn how things work.

  • I think there is a misinterpretation of the Constitution. The first amendment specifically specifically says that "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech". That is not to say that the state or administration couldn't make regulations. Imagine if we taught amendments 2-10.

  • I do not blame the officer... my guess is he was dying inside knowing what he was forced to say and do was bullshit. I certainly do not blame the parents or the kids... they seem to understand our set of laws better than the governor and his patheitc set of cronies do. Personally, I wish the officer had told the governor and his thugs to do their own dirty work!!

  • Great, 2 more "boys" that will forever pee sitting down because mommy said so. Better get child services to the house while they "sleep" in mommy's bed while daddy is getting handjobs from his union buddies.

  • @brzrkr1000 man come put you're money wear your mouth are at, i aint never got a hand job form no other union boys. fucking kis my MOPAR DRIVING ASS and dont be driving your jap bmws in my town my street my capatal.

  • Come on...When will people grow up. You made me do it? Really??? It's someone's fault???

The mother used her kids in an adult problem and the finger is pointed somewhere else? What happened to accountability of the parent???

  • No mother should put her children in an adult conversation. This shows such a lack of maturity for the parent. Kids are kids and never belong in adult conversions, problems, gripes. She used her own children as a pawn. I have seen parents argue in front of their kids asking the kids to choose between the parents argument. Kids are not judges and should point out facts to adults.

    This is really sad!!!

  • @rosel1717 Glad to see how little you think of your own children if you have them. I pray everyday that someday soon my four year old will know enough to beat me in an argument. I'm raising critical thinkers. You're raising people who think that "Knowing your place" is a virtue.

  • @SisterKlon = Really, you're thinking of your children to think critical thinkers??? Shouldn't that be for reading and math, how to get along with peers?

This shows an act of immaturity to involve kids in adult matters plain as simple. Knowing your place is knowing who is the adult and who is the child.

  • @rosel1717 I disagree. If anything this affects kids more than anyone so its not "involving kids in adult matters" they are the ones who are getting 1 bil taken from their schools (not their teachers, thats different) 1 bil worth of gym equipment and music classes and lab experiments and computers and in some cases even basic maintenance to keep the schools physically safe. Plus the whole no recycling, unsafe drinking water, filthy stinking green/blue lakes, etc. = crappy state to grow up in.

  • @TheMasterTate - We don't need the unions to have an "effective" school. Why not try balancing the money vs. going deeper in dept. The Unions force the Government to pay for health care that the Union benefits from. This could save millions of dollars alone. Listen to the Union CEO talk about the Union.

It's not about kids, it's not about a better vision for schools. He said people are willing to pay us millions of dollars.

  • @TheEnsignUSN

You can assemble in public open spaces. Sure can. Any sidewalk for example is free to protest wherever you like.

The have a court order that says the Rotunda is a public open space and that protesting is supposed to be allowed there.

  • This is why cousins should be sterilized before they are allowed to marry and procreate.

  • The cop should haveput them in handcuffs. I would call that doing his job and it has nothing to do with whether or not he is a "dick".

  • @ILOVEU2ANDST

Protesters want nothing more than to be arrested for this. Which is why they're only being issued small citations.

  • @ILOVEU2ANDST I agree. That nice guy crap is so phony it hurts my teeth. They should just admit the fact that they are straight up armed goons serving a single mans whim and just start beating people. At least they would be being honest at that point. Pretending to be a nice guy while trampling the constitution is probably the most infuriating disgraceful disgusting thing a cop can do.

  • This is not a free speech issue, it’s civil disobedience by a family of Marxist moon bats. Just as you can’t create a riot by yelling fire in a crowded theater, you must obey reasonable governmental rules. To move to the ground floor was reasonable so as not to interfere with the normal working of the government.

  • I feel sorry for this officer. Its sad how are dick Governor is making them do things they don't want to do and threaten there jobs if they don't comply. I feel sorry for both the officer and the kids. Scott needs to remember hes a Governor not an emperor.

  • Barack Hussein Obama MMM MMM MMM! Barack Hussein Obama MMM MMM MMM!

  • @TheMasterTate "if people can stand at funerals of dead soldiers saying they're burning in hell" then kids can stand w/the sign. Those are 2 different situations w/ kids (underage not knowing the whole situation unlike parents who won't hold it) & war protesters. If you don't approve of the war its no reason to dishonor/shame fallen soldiers & grieving families.Doing that @ funerals where family buries loved ones is sick & gross abuse of Freedom of Speech over human pain, grieving & dignity.

  • @Checkpointification well i guess all those kids that where there chanting and carrying signs, when the protests were held for the unions were okay..why because the teachers brought them?? double standard..like always ..the sad part the officers get caught up in the mess...

  • Comment removed

  • @jane5457 I agree, it's a double-standard & I sometimes have trouble believing/following the fact that double standards should never be followed. As for teachers protesting, I don't agree with the huge amount of money already slashed from the WI budget since teaching is America's most valued/needed resource. I may not know much about budgeting but it doesn't make sense to keep taking from places almost drained when corporations & other rich persons should be able to pay a little more on taxes.

  • @Checkpointification It is what it is...

  • @jane5457 One more point to supplement my earlier comment if you don't mind. While it's important to teach kids government responsibility & citizen action(s) in protesting/other forms of speaking out/supporting, certain care and etiquette must be given to rules already in place like the administrative code for this building. The family would still have been able to protest just as well on the ground floor & maybe attracted more supporters walking into the building, which they were allowed to do.

  • @Checkpointification Thats my point. If the funeral thing is legal, this should be legal.

  • @TheMasterTate As 'silly' as my earlier post may have been (according to you) some of the most unforeseen accidents/lawsuits/incidents from the strangest of actions & have caused tremendous damage to one party or another. In addition, TheEnsignUSN also makes a clear point that assembly should be allowed, but only when it does not obstruct official business. You keep saying my posts are ridiculous but you fail to take into perspective that there might be valid reasons why that spot is off-limits.

  • @Checkpointification Who's restricting business? The places that aren't open are offices and the chambers... They even have a court order that specifically outlines which places should be off limits.

  • @SisterKlon My appologies for this misunderstanding. When I said 'restricting business,' I actually meant that it might obstruct building employees and maintenance personnel from accomplishing daily duties. There are numerous and already enacted frivolous laws that make no sense to the common citizen (just search google.com for weird/strange state laws), maybe this area falls into one? I apologize again for any confusion that my previous post about restricting business may have caused.

  • @Checkpointification Have you ever been there? I have been there plenty and I can tell you the only reason that place is off limits is because Walker said so. No business is conducted on the railing of the 2nd floor balcony. Seriously, if you are going to republicans no matter what they do just say it. Don't try and pretend like you have rational reasons to believe they shouldn't be they should be able to hold a sign. If the Rs and Ds were reversed I have a feeling you know you would be pissed.

  • @TheMasterTate While I'm all for a calm logical debate on most anything, random people who assume to know that I'd be angry if the 'Rs and Ds were reversed' don't know me. Don't twist this into some guessing game where you think I'm doing it from a political standpoint. And yes, I do have rational reasons for believing what I stated earlier. I'm not a D and I'm not a R, I vote for each candidate based on their personal merits/beliefs/past actions. You don't know me at all, so can it on that.

  • Wow, looks like a lot of viewers are missing the point of civil disobedience and are apparently undermining the intelligence of teenagers and children. Probably because they don't have any and/or forgot what it was like to be one. Bravo, feel-good moment right there. Yep, picking on kids who made the conscious decision to refuse to cooperate without the help of their parents (didn't see Sargent tell her kids what to do here, just reiterating the cop,) makes you look really smart/tough/good.

  • As a person living within your district Ms. Sargent, I am absolutely sickened by your behavior here and your complete disregard for the authority of the Capitol police and the way you encouraged your boys to continue to break the rules! Lets hope your boys never decide that one or more of your rules don't need to be adhered to after you've set this precedent--afterall as long as they have some objection to a rule they don't have to follow it, right?

  • WOOOOHOOOO! good for this family supporting their kids and empowering them.. and really.. KUDOS to the cop..he was calm and dealt with the kids on their level... piss on that "walker" dictator code..

  • These parents shouldn't have kids. THey are using them as pawns in their game. It is irresponsible and exploitive. I find it quite disgusting that they would bring their kids into this kind of situation and use them to make a political point.

  • @DeathKorps94 I disagree. These kids stand to lose the most by Walkers attacks on education. These kids look like they have 6-10 years left in Wisconsin schools and with Walker taking away 1 bil from WI schools these kids will be stuck in roach motel schools. If they go to college here they have even more to lose with Walker taking money from the colleges and attacking professors. Not to mention living in a state with no recycling, filthy lakes, no 1st amendment, and dangerous drinking water.

  • @TheMasterTate Sorry your points have no bearing on a parents obvious exploitation of their kids. These kids are far to young to be involved in this kind of stuff. In fact I don't believe high school students should have been dragged into this either. I don't care what your political position is this is irresponsible parental behavior.

  • @DeathKorps94 Fact is Walker involved them when he decided to take 1billion from their schools. Thats 1 billion taken from the schools, NOT the teachers, thats a separate thing. So if he hadn't taken a machete to the schools then yeah, I would agree. However since they are the ones who are going to have to go to run down roach motels they try and call schools, I would say Walker already dragged them into this.

  • Freedom of speech doesn't mean you are free to assemble wherever you want. Look at how many permits and legal hoops you have to jump through to have a scheduled protest. This would fall under civil disobedience and there are consequences to that. This was completely staged by the parents, using their kids as pawns so this woman can show this video to get re-elected to city council.

  • @SonofThor73 I guess this mom and dad ..had no connections with the comunist party the way the teachers unions did.,maybe then i guess they would have been given a pass...check out who got the permits for the teachers protests..google it there you will find out just who got the permits for them a sad day indeed....I guess if you dont belong to the demorcratic party or the socialist and comunist party nowadays cant get shit done...

  • @SonofThor73

The woman had nothing to do with the video.

  • Walker's attack on constitutional right to freedom of speech via his administrative code is not law, but,

"An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Their willingness to accept citation in support their children over injustice says it all. Solidarity!

  • exploit your children. way to go!

  • This is a great lesson in constitutionality for children (and adults) everywhere. The officer is clearly happy to be part of the big picture here, and to be filmed showing what actual civil discourse is with these children and their parents. Too bad they will eventually see how uncivil some officers of the law can be if they keep standing up for their rights as they get older. All a part of the resistance and being a true patriot.

  • thats retarded

  • I am so proud of my fellow Wisconsinites, and where can I get a wisconsin 14 shirt?

  • @jdog1272 : You can get a WI 14 shirt at Shakti, down on State Street.

  • I don't know whether to "like" for them standing up for their rights or "dislike" for this violation of freedom of speech. (I'm sorry the officers are put in this position as it is obvious they are not excited about trampling on the rights defined in our constitution)

  • The officer was very respectful and polite. Perfect example of doing his job and not being a dick about it.

  • @liquidbullet5 hes still infringing on their rights so fuck that cop.

  • @DovenDeath No. I can not step into your house to protest. I can stand outside your house but I cannot go into your room to protest. Also you are retarded if you think this is the cops decision. He is a respectful police officer. He did not make the rules, he merely enforces them. This is not a corrupt cop. You are blind if you cannot see that.

  • @liquidbullet5 exactly how madison police are

  • @liquidbullet5 the only reason he washt being a dick about it was he was being filmed

  • @scorand That has never stopped cops before. You can tell by his facial expression and gestures he was not aggressive. He didn't want to make the kids leave, but if he did not he would be fired.

  • @liquidbullet5 Isn't it amazing how the police are heroes to the libs when they protest, but they're thugs when they do their job? That is what drives me nuts.... the double standards of the left.

  • @liquidbullet5 not when kids were involved.. and i'm sure most of the police understand their position.. and i'm sure walker is doing his best to try not to show off the fact that hes nothing but a dictator.. although hes using private security at tax payers expence..

  • @liquidbullet5 Is that the offical SS potion or your own personal

  • @Elvisinmybasement Own personal opinion. There are many many cops who I have seen and met who are complete dicks, aka pigs. I have run into my fair share of corruption and as a whole tend to hate the government and their corporate bullshit. While i do not care for what this officer has to enforce, I do think the manner in which he did it was very professional and respectful.

  • @liquidbullet5 He was violating the constitution but its ok, cause he was "respectful and polite" (sarcasm).

  • @liquidbullet5 But you do realize freedom of speech is a national law and Walker is breaking the law by sending that cop by them right?

  • @musicpassion4life Depends. Was upstairs considered a private area? If so then freedom of speech is not a right on someone elses property, in someones house, exc.. Regardless, this was not the officers decision. There is no reason the family cannot fight this. My beef would be with Walker and all his bullshit, not the respectful cop that did his job.

  • I'm sorry but, even though I am on their "side" this is pure grandstanding. I know that paper sign isn't posing any danger but the rule is probably there for the simple fact that some dolt will probably, eventually hang a sign on a sheet of quarter inch plywood and eventually it could/would fall and seriously hurt someone.

The issue here folks is not the taking of our "right" to hang signs off the capitol building balcony, it's taking away the power of working people to collectively bargain.

  • @kcabpilot Sticks for signs have been banned from the capitol since day one. I'm pretty sure a wooden sign would also not make it in. This bit of administrative code has nothing whatsoever to do with safety.

  • @kcabpilot - It is also about attempts to stifle basic Constitutionally guaranteed First Amendment rights as part of the debate on what is going on. This has nothing to do with where they hang the signs or any danger involved, because just holding a sign on the first floor, nowhere near the balcony will also get you cited. It's not grandstanding, because, generally, you don't have standing to challenge the illegality of this kind of rule unless it affects you.

  • No officer, What you're doing is breaking the law.

  • @SisterKlon No, he is not, kiddy.

  • @drgdrf

    he's not enforcing any law.

  • Democracy Now!! Yay for this wonderful family!

  • As a side note to all the arguments going on here.

Maybe if people spent more time getting people out to vote in the last election, or getting petitions signed, and/or writing to your representatives and senators rather than griping about things like this on youtube, things could have gone differently.

  • Yeah I suppose you are right. I am just freaked out about the fact that there are armed men walking around enforcing decries handed down by a single man. I mean this isn't a law that was passed, this is just what Walker decided. I mean what happens if tomorrow he decides no blacks can drink from the water fountains or that instead of citations they give out beatings? I know it sounds ridiculous, but if you told me 6 months ago this was going to happen I would have thought you were nuts.

  • @TheMasterTate Actually, the officer referred to the state's administrative code, which would have been adopted after public notice, hearings, etc. This isn't a Walker order, it's a longstanding rule on hanging signs off balconies over other people's heads.

  • @msbellows Can you please show me where you learned this? I am not saying you are wrong, I just have never heard of it before.

  • Way to go boys!!!!! You're parents are awesome!

  • @ :53 "Can't you read the sign? It says no signs!"

  • @TheMasterTate It also says no easel on a sign by the door...but look at that...the signs on an easel. Irony? Civil disobedience is about exposing corruption in the legal system and not complying with some unethical demand, We are not sheep. We are humans.

  • I smell class action.

  • There should be a childrens' day so kids can practice using their first amendment rights. This, more than any text book, will teach them what democracy looks like. This will help create the next generation of freedom riders. What are the Capitol Police going to do when 1000 families show up with their freedom fighting kids? The Media will have a field day. Walker will again look like a dirty fascist.

  • Those are some brave little dudes. Respect. Having a cop lean on you like that isn't fun at any age. Granted those cops had their nice guy masks on but armed men trampling on peoples constitutional rights are never nice guys. You know if a soldier receives an order that is unconstitutional he is obligated to defy that order. If he obeys he can in theory be charged with treason and executed. Too bad these so called peace officers aren't held to the same standards. When will this end?

  • FUCK THA POLICE - even if they're nice sometimes

  • This is not the cop's fault. He is following orders from Walker's administration. Thank you for being respectful of the family. BUT good for the family for standing up for their beliefs and for free speech!! They are not taping the sign on the wall, which is the intent of the rule. They are not causing any damage to our house. This whole thing is getting ridiculous!

  • @kmederich Please stop making excuses for the police. The capitol police and the SState troopers have been nothing but hired goons for whatever Walker has told them to do. "I was just following orders" didn't work at Nuremberg and it shouldn't work here. The Dane county sheriff and his deputies had the integrity to say "enough is enough" so don't tell me it can't be done. The SState troopers should all be fired and papa Fitz (owner of the Wi SS) should be arrested. Chief Tubbs too. Disgraceful.

  • I am very impressed by how all parties handled this. The kids and parents were respectful but determined in their convictions and the policeman was also polite about how he addressed them . . . he was doing his job.

  • Well, step one is done - precedence. Next up "sure you can protest, in that big cardboard box we setup over there, so no one can see or hear you. Oh yeah, there are rattle snakes in there as well...

What point is a protest if it isn't eveninconvenient? In fact, I'd say a protest that is done in a way that doesn't bother the people you are trying to make a point too isn't a protest, so their right to protest has been taken away in this case IMO.
