I just noticed a bit of irony about this show. Isn't it ironic how much I support Bates and Anna, but yet, I don't approve of Grantham and Jane? It's interesting to see how Fellowes gets you to justify Anna and Bates' situation but not Grantham and Jane's. My brilliant thought of the day (maybe). :)
Who is that maid Robert's talking with? Is it Lily? And what are they talking about? Someone mentioned that they kissed! Can someone please explain to me? :D
@downtonxlover It's Jane, and *spoiler except for not really because it's kind of obvious it's going to happen* he kisses her. I can't quite remember what he says, but he's just saying how he feels like he's lost his way, and then he just grabs her and kisses her. Then he leaves, apologizes, and she says that she forgives him. My guess? Cora will die this next episode, and he'll have a fling with this maid.
@buzzandjessie Thank you for answering! Cora dies? Yeah, maybe, I mean she looks kind of dying in the 2x08 preview! But it would be so sad... don't you think?
@downtonxlover Actually, she probably doesn't. It sounds like O'Brien's going to tell her that she killed her baby, and if that's the case, I don't see why Fellowes would kill Cora. She'll probably live and O'Brien will finally have to suffer the consequences of her actions.
@downtonxlover I really hope so too, but it seems like he's going to be arrested. :( So....who knows? I don't know why we'd be strung out this long just to watch them NOT get together, but maybe that's a plot twist? I don't know...

I am sure, with Fellowes at the wheel, we are in for more angst and drama but did you notice - cant really explain - Bates looks more like his old self. He is not so shadowed, his whole posture and demeanor is more confident and clear. Even if things go down again I am glad to see him feeling - and acting - better

There is a registrar mentioned in the credits for the episode but also an Arresting Officer. So they could get married, have their wedding night and then Bates gets arrested the next morning!!! That would be so very typical for how they have ruined things for them this series :((

well I am so disappointed in LordG - he has to eat his lunch alone a few times and now he fancies a dallyance with a maid!! Well after 6 years, dear good please let Sybil&Branson have some loving time and some decent scenes with decent dialoge.
I really hope that there is more Sybil and Branson in this episode. As for Lavinia, I don't hate her, she's just another girl in love with Matthew but I'm interested to see how Julian Fellows will try to get Mary and Matthew together.

@littleguinea Not only that but why on earth would she take it? What reason would she have to do away with herself especially that everything is going her way. Did he never explain to Anna during the ep what he meant by "it was worse than you could ever imagine?" I'm assuming he was talking about his interaction with Vera when he went to London. So, we don't have any idea what transpired between the two of them? Oh God!!!!
@clarkindee All we know is that he went to London to see Vera. He was supposed to be away for a night but came back the very same day with a graze to his cheekbone and saying it was worse that Anna could imagine. :(
From what the articles have been saying Vera had asked him to buy a rat poison a while past and that is what he is mentioning. It was commonly used in household stuff (i.e. in Gosford they called the house a poisoner's paradise because the stuff is in nearly every room for different domestic uses). Yeah this a a wake up alright but I think he will come through and he and Anna - stalwart as always - will finally get a kind of happy ending
