To an early commenter. Good playing is not all about speed. Its all about timing, the right note in the right place and feeling the music. When I was learning to play lead guitar 20 years ago a very reputable player gave me the best advice ever. You are better playing something simple and well than fast and making a hash of it. Always play to your ability and within your confort zone. Over playing is for show off. David and John are two of the best players in the uk if not further afield.

@thadeous117 Total crap! the skaggs clip is FASTER, please be more objective and compare before posting. When musicians play at this level, any criticism is splitting hairs and personal taste. Dave and john are simply above reproach in the standard of their ability.

This is really really good guys!!! I just subscribed. I cut my teeth with bands in the 80's and this is how a guitar is suppose to be played. It would amaze some people that this type of CLEAN picking and CLEAN tone rarely exist anymore. Fantastic, I'm very impressed.
David, are you attempting to start something with "The Colonies", again? I think if Tom Brumley, Bruce Bouton, Jerry Douglas, etc. ever get hold of your vids, there will be so much jelousy that they would want to start WWIII. One word for you and John - SUPERB!!!!!!!!!
BBJC, I'm certainly not an expert and I tend to get on the SUBjective side, rather than the OBjective. The artists I mentioned are all trained professionals and I don't even hold a blank certificate to their years of schooling and possible college degrees. All I know is that Dave Hartley has impressed this humble listener more that any other steel player that I have heard. I also still think the muisicians I mentioned are head and shoulders above the majority of others in the business.
BBJC, Also glad you obviously enjoyed Dave and John. There seems to be a "vicious" rumor going around that Dave may be making a visit to "The Colonies" in the not too far distant future. Dave, would you please "jump in here" and confirm or deny any plans for travel. We'd love to see you.

The more I watch you on the Tube, the better I find your music awesome. You guys are great musicians. I wish I could attend to concerts here in Quebec Canada with music like yours'. I have attended to a concert by Scott and Gerald Delhunty last year who are great musicians. You can search for them on Youtube and you will probably agree with me. Both of the Delhunty brothers (originally from New Brunswick Canada) are awesome musicians. Check it out!

Yep, well where would bluegrass be without the Irish and Scots elements I wonder? As well as all the other input? As Joe Zawinul of Weather Report said, all the best music is bastardized music anyway - or words to that effect!

Very True Mate. I apologize for my neglect of all the various cultures that have contributed to music. I suppose being Scottish/English Heritage myself, I might have demonstrated favoritism? This is really really good guys!!! I just subscribed. I cut my teeth with bands in the 80's and this is how a guitar is suppose to be played. It would amaze some people that this type of CLEAN picking and CLEAN tone rarely exist anymore. Fantastic, I'm very impressed.

BBJC, I'm certainly not an expert and I tend to get on the SUBjective side, rather than the OBjective. The artists I mentioned are all trained professionals and I don't even hold a blank certificate to their years of schooling and possible college degrees. All I know is that Dave Hartley has impressed this humble listener more that any other steel player that I have heard. I also still think the muisicians I mentioned are head and shoulders above the majority of others in the business.

BBJC, Also glad you obviously enjoyed Dave and John. There seems to be a "vicious" rumor going around that Dave may be making a visit to "The Colonies" in the not too far distant future. Dave, would you please "jump in here" and confirm or deny any plans for travel. We'd love to see you.
