I have 10.10v and when i try to execute a .exe file i get this
The file '/media/4C1CDDB01CDD94F4/Program Files/WeGame/wegame.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.
i go to properties but i cant mark it pls help for NOOB here
i need help too im new to ubuntu ive tried installing wine and have gotten to the step where i have to go to the authentication tap and import key file but when i click import key file the software sources window closes please help
can someone help me im new to ubuntu an when i try to install with terminal it say uable to lock the administration directory ( / var / lib / dpkg /) are you root?
@Goku1337 This is very easy to fix. In the command line, type in 'sudo su' without the punctuation, and then type in YOUR password. Try the command again and it should work!
i actually tried it, it worked just fine... and i had to re-install ubuntu (7.04)and i tried to do it again and it just doesnt work.... do i have to do all the updates before or something?
i go to system>administration and i look for software sources and its nowhere to be found, might be because i have version 6.06?? is it possible to upgrade?
I dunno if you've already gone into linux or what but i would suggest putting linux mint onto a disk (write the ISO onto it, look on the forums for that) and you can boot off the disk
You won't be able to do much with that but after you installed it you can poke around with it and you can get a feel for what linux really is
After you learnt about that and know all the terminal codes (you will get to know that when you install it) then go for ubuntu

There is an easier method.
1.applications->add/remove.
U2.p the top there is a drop down box, change the setting to all open source applications
3. Wine should be listed =]
Runescene 3 years ago 6
open terminal
apt-get install wine
You can do it with everything.
apt-get install vlc
apt-get install opera

You do know that almost every linux user uses dual boot right?
I've had linux for 3 years now
As a dual boot with XP now vista
Steam on linux is good because you can talk to your mates and say yeh i'll play a game
Then you restart and boot up into vista and pwn some noobs
Steam games aren't open source =( but neither was quake but that was modified
So hopefully over time all games will be released with open source ^^
tinymouse2 3 years ago
99.99999999999999% of linux users dual boot.
desertman123 3 years ago
Well yeh
but its just annoying how Ubuntu runs so much faster and is free but we have to pay all this money for a windows program just to play games
We will buy the games if the software companies make games for us :D

Yeah not so many but most of 'em'

is there a big diffrens between
the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version ?
cuz i have the 32 bit version but i really wanna play games on ubuntu...
supreme2lol 3 years ago 2
You can't play games on linux
Well not most of them
HL2 has just been modified so you can pwn zombies on SP hl2
Quake has also been modified and thats got full MP support
But until the game creators start releasing their games in open source im afraid us linux users will have to stick to our dual boot system
