I am very glad to see one of these companies finally address the "securing the hose to the tank issue" the stiff hosing causes issues otherwise. Thank you fluval!!!
does anyone know how i take the tubes out of the water without water going everywhere. i have the 305 model and i think mine is broken and im getting worried that its going to break or something and i want to switch to an internal filter
i have a fluval 105 and 205 on my 220 litre they are great the media i use is : water polishing pads, carbon/ ammonia remover, bio rings and the ordinary sponges all of this together gives you crystal clear non toxic water
This Filter Is Piece of SHIT. The material that the canister is made of warps with time making the O-ring not seal causing a silent leak that will leave a nice mess. I my self have a 305 and I bought it 11-15-09 and yesterday my father had walked in on a big surprise on the floor that didn't know about. Now for those of you who are thinking of buying it I would look into a better design. Like a clamp down main cap and seal and not a clamp cap Side Seal like the 05 series. The Fx5 is Clmp dwn Cp
@100ssgoku For turtles I would go for the largest filter possible. I just bought a new 405 but ideally I would actually use two but 1 will do for now.
I have the 204 an older model still running good for 5 years. I will get the 305 for a little koi pond 50 gallon rubber maid tub. Just to keep 3 koi is good enough
@JPHET37 Have you ever taken it apart to clean the hoses? I need to do that in my 405 but Don't know if the Rubber adapters will go back on or not. Will I have to replace those or can they go back on without cracking? I've had mine about 2 years. I don't want to buy new adapters if I don't need to :)

Does the filter have to be below the tank? Could it be next to the tank? I have a 60 gallon corner tank.
jennnkay 6 months ago
@jennnkay the fliter has to be below water line as it uses gravity to pull water down to filter and motor to pump back up into tank.

Good filters, but the Marineland C-Series have out-performed them in my experience.

I don't know about the 05, but I had an 04 and ended up just throwing it away... didn't even sell it.

@denny164l You should probably change your oring or at the very least lube it. It's not a piece of shit if you take care of it properly.

I just installed the 305 in my 55. It was not as hard as I thought. Super quiet. My cichlids are happy now.
