Oh, and if anyone proposing this tax knew any EXTREMELY basic science, they would refer to it as a co2 tax and not refer to it as a pollutant! It isn't!
@ywiabychi well i'm happy you weren't a coward that removes people's comment.
you know water isn't a pollutant? yet you can still drown in water. water can kill a person. C02 can kill a person. co2 can kill an ecosystem, just as to much oxygen can kill an ecosystem, it is about balance. co2 raises the earth temperature. co2 is produced by people, people make the temperature raise. i can't see how some people can't follow such logical steps.
@MrJarth But let's not confuse science with political spin - Gillard introduced a co2 tax in order to govern through green & indy support. The tax will do nothing for the climate!
it will. we wouldn't be known as the worse co2 producer per capita. people seem to forget the companies on the tax list signed up for it. if they didn't want to reduce there green house gas emissions they wouldn't of signed up for it. in the long run they know that they will be better off. another thing to note is the new Zealand carbon tax went well. if people are worried about the price of living then they should be protesting against neo-liberalism. if CT doesn't work it will go.

If the greens (labor) always get their way, well let's say our homes will be up in tree houses, unable to 'feed ourselves'. Let's be real, how long has the earth been around? Common Julia let's 'move forward' from this non-issue and start managing this place before the US fucks us tenfold through its poor management. If you can't do it, and judging by track record labor can't, get people who can.
people with power, gosh. All trying to be seen as do gooders, thinking we are stupid.
These people are talking out of their ass. A carbon tax that has nothing to do with carbon. anything we save in 10years will be wiped by china and india alone in just one. so if they aren't srz about it why the fu*k should we care. we only contribute 0.004% of CO2 in the atmosphere per year i dont see how thats gana change the future.
I don't claim to be a climate change expert but I see how the government works and they do what they do to suite their political ends. Look back some 20 years when the then the government said "No, the scientists are wrong there is no climate change". Then the hole in the ozone layer grew and grew and they did nothing. This government is more interested in how they look and making as much as they can from us.
I don't think the problem with Labor is that they say climate change is bad. The problem is the carbon tax. Anyone that has been born on any day other than yesterday knows that governments take money for one reason that they say is the most important thing right now. Then after a couple months they use that money for something else. A couple years later they will need more money for some other really important thing. I'm sitting here wondering why we still have stamp duty.

For everyone that doesn't know, there is actually no evidence to prove global warming. Tests have actually found that the earth's temperature has dropped in the last 10 years and not increased. There has also been no proof of polar ice caps melting.
Bob brown is taking about Koalas , and everyone else is taking about different things . This is stupid. This has got nothing to do with the Climate Change.
@annkus3 Bob Brown is talking about Koalas AFFECTED BY (among other things) CLIMATE CHANGE! Gillard is definately speaking about CLIMATE CHANGE! Tanya is speaking about CLIMATE CHANGE!
Besides, this is satire! Have you any idea what that is?
This is a desperate government with no power but that which the greens allow it to have... and will therefore sell it's soul to the greens to cling to power... even to the detrement of our quickly becoming not so great country. It's not Gillards faulty... her only crime is being a moron... All of you ideallistic idiots that ticked the greens box on your ballot paper because you didn't like either Gillard or Abbott have put us all in this shit!
@3087rosey The trouble is voters think greens means rejuvenating a quality environment it couldnt be further from the truth it really means proffit for the NWO
idno if i buy into the whole carbon tax, the world has been changing for its entire history, and now we have had machines on this earth that produce co2 for id say maby 150 years and in that 150 years we have completely destroyed the earth atmosphere... i call bullshit
@ainsleywainsley You can call it bullshit but you'd be disagreeing with thousands of scientists and academics specialising in the various fields related to climate change. Do you have any expertise to back up your 'bullshit' claim? Or are you too bogged down in the political argument to acknowledge science?
@ainsleywainsley In that time, the concentration of CO2 has risen by around 40%. Industry produces over 100 times the CO2 emissions of average volcanic activity each year. I wouldnt say we've 'completely destroyed' the atmosphere, but we can certainly change it's composition.
It's revealing how shifty-eyed & hesitant Bob Brown is, like he knows of some hidden agenda, and almost like he's making it up.
I read the Gillard-Combe (ex pro-Moscow Wharfie union boss) "clean energy future" manifesto where it admits that "some of the costs of the carbon tax may be passed on to consumers".
I notice it doesn't rule out that all of the carbon price might be passed on to us (it does claim to police More than the carbon price being passed on).
lol i love how every person who viewed this is a redneck.... lol i cant believe we have to teach you morons about climate change all over again... do you think making durastic changes to the things we do is going to be free? no your all fucking idiots if you think tax is a bad thing. think about the future not about your pocket.
@coojstar69 Bro its nothing more than a tax on air and guess what?? Fuel is exempt from the tax...so hang on isnt fuel and carbon emitting pollutants the basis for this tax on air yet its not being taxed? Whoah time out I'm confused...Australia contributes less than 1% of the worlds emissions considering we have fuck all manufacturing infrastructure so why are we being punished? This is another attempt for the Govt to fill its coffers cos it always mismanages our economy

HAHA when Bob says "shot".. im guessing he has been taken out of context and is talking about vaccinations. Where do you find the time to make this crap?!
@firemonkey4me Yes global warming is happening, only a retard would say it's not, but taxing it is not the right way to fix the problem. Simply giving the government money for the carbon you have produced won't lower carbon outputs and make the world green. The government is just taking your money, and aren't doing anything to help the environment with it.
@firemonkey4me You can go to wikipedia to look this up or anywhere. Australia produces less than 1% of global carbon. And you will see, India, Asia, Russia, America up there.
Now.. you think so what, who cares. We should lead a good example right? Well, that's a bit hard. Considering Asia said they will NOT have a carbon tax, India said they will NOT have a carbon tax, America said they WON'T have a carbon tax if either of them don't. So tell me, why are we paying for less than 1% pollution?
@firemonkey4me yes, thats what makes there argument a joke. the upsides far outweigh the downsides and the only pocket that there going to be taking from with that is people who deserve it.
@firemonkey4me The problem with the tax is that in its current form it won't do anything to reduce CO2 emissions. This is because too many polluting industries are exempted and some of those that aren't will be compensated. The main problem is monopolisation of the electricity infrastructure. Most people have no alternative choice and the cost of whackong solar panels on a roof is beyond most. Check my vid for an alternative watch?v=qImNRuV4G0Q
Regardless of the issue over whether a Carbon Tax is needed, this is an absolute disgrace to our democracy. I understand the difficulties of a minority-led government and I don't think Julia Gillard "lied" when she said there would be no Carbon Tax - The Greens blackmailed Labor with it.
The Greens, voted for by an immense minority of Australians, is solely able to determine one of the most policy outcomes of Australia.. what a fucking joke. They should hang their heads in shame.
On 7/28/11, it was revealed that the scientist behind the polar-bears-are-in-trouble research is being investigated for “scientific misconduct”. Then, a new study of NASA data revealed that the earth is actually allowing more heat to escape the planet than previously thought by the climate change community. During a speech at the Aspen Institute in Colorado, Al Gore launched into a vulgar tirade while accusing skeptics of media manipulation.
climate change is and has been happening since the beginning of time,HUMANS HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE CLIMATE.One large volcanic eruption puts out more carbondioxide than man has ever or will ever produce.IF THEY CAN CONTROL WHAT YOU BREATH OUT AND WHAT PLANTS EAT THEN THEY CONTROL YOU %100. THE TIME HAS COME TO STOP THIS NEW WORLD ORDER POWER GRAB.iF YOU WANT TO STAY FREE WE ALL MUST SAY NO NO NO NO NO NO NO ,ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,WE MUST STOP THEM FOR OUR CHILDRENS SAKE !!!!!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!!!
Trust an anti carbon tax idiot to come up with this. There is already bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef and you take this as a joke. If you wont take warnings from the experts you had better go back to your church and start praying to a supernatural being.
@elsbymike the Great Barrier Reef has died many times already in the past, and it will die and regenerate again. You either have no idea what you're talking about or heard some random fact and jumped on it
This carbon tax is yet another example of the sorry state of Australian Politics. The tax itself , is a greens conception I believe. Ms. Gillard has to push it in return for the greens support for any further labor policies in the future. And since they have the balance of power in the senate, I suspect that we'd be in the same position even if we voted abbot instead.
I know we hated him then, but seeing the condition our government is in makes me actually miss the days of John Howard.
@anotherguttersnipe "This carbon tax is yet another example of the sorry state of Australian Politics. The tax itself , is a greens conception I believe."-"I know we hated him then, but seeing the condition our government is in makes me actually miss the days of John Howard."
Yet the Howard Government proposed an emissions trading scheme as well, which means you'd already be paying it if the Howard Government had stayed in office.
Yeah, lets bulldoze the forests and pump the sky full of shit. I hate greenies - I am greyie. I love cement and asphalt. Those scientists think they are so clever. I played under 18s footy in 1959. I'm much more cleverer.
"Climate Change" has been happening for millions of years. The Government just found a way to exploit it for their own financial gain. People are going to look back on this many years in the future and just think "Christ, how stupid and gullible were they?!"
Gillard and Brown are insane,it is unbelievable that these imbeciles are in office. They used to call it Global Warming until they found out the planet was in fact cooling, then they called it Climate Change until they found out the climate always changes, then it was carbon and now it is a clean energy future! These idiots are making it up as they go along to suit their own insane Green agenda, destroy economies & restrict freedoms.Man made climate change is a complete myth. Nature laughs at us!
@MottTheWot Climate change has always been the term used. Global warming refers to the fact that our planet is heating up after the last period of glaciation. Anthropogenic global warming refers to the part of global warming that is caused by man. Carbon is an element that is present in CO2, one of the "greenhouse" gases in our atmosphere. If you don't want to look like an idiot to everyone around you, study the facts instead of shouting anti-intellectual slogans.
Bob Brown using scare tactics to justify wealth redistribution should have charges brought against him for his claims. This is not parliamentary privilege when they lie and scare the electorate, this is Fraud, Bob Brown knows there is no empirical scientific evidence that supports man made contribution to climate change, there is no consensus except in his imagination, there is no sign of the sea levels rising, our temperature is not increasing, The Greens are culpable in this Fraud
@thefirst121 "there is no empirical scientific evidence that supports man made contribution to climate change"
Yes, there is. Thousands of papers in dozens of journals across numerous fields of science, published in a variety of countries with vastly different governments and ideologies. It's really not hard to find.
"there is no consensus"
Well, it's practically impossible to get 100% consensus in any field of human endeavour, but definitely the majority of peak science bodies acknowledge AGW.
@ferrett78 Yes, it's been proven that CO2 does cause warming and that there may be a degree or two at the worst if CO2 levels are doubled. It's the far-left professors and politicians though that have taken that science and tried to turn it into a doomsday scenario.
@ComicPenius 2 degrees for a doubling of pre-industrial levels is about mid range for models, but seems to be about where we are tracking so far. Its worth noting that we are already around 40% of the way to doubling CO2 already though, and barely any action has been taken to slow the large scale accumulation of CO2 thus far. Also, a 2 degree warming does not translate as 2 degrees everywhere - its an average for the globe.
@ferrett78 Rubbish. The scientists who support AGW are PAID to do so, their careers depend on it as it has become an industry. On the other hand we have tens of thousands of UNPAID scientists with lots to lose and nothing to gain who disagree with anthropomorphic global warming. What about the 30,000 who are suing Al Gore for his propaganda piece, " An Inconvenient Truth". On the rare occasion that a debate is organized the Global Warming crowd try to stack the deck. Sorry I'm not buying it.
@TelecasterLPGTop "The scientists who support AGW are PAID to do so"
Erm, no, they are paid to examine the data and come to conclusions regardless of the findings. If they are incorrect, it would not take much for a scientist in another country with another agenda to demonstrate they are inaccurate, yet this rarely seems to be the case.
"their careers depend on it"
Their careers depend more on reporting accurate results. Scientists with poor research methodology dont keep their employment long.
@TelecasterLPGTop " On the other hand we have tens of thousands of UNPAID scientists with lots to lose and nothing to gain who disagree with anthropomorphic global warming."
Really? Where are they hiding?
"What about the 30,000 who are suing Al Gore"
You mean the internet petition that anyone can sign? Less than 1% of the signatories are even qualified in climate science. Practically every major scientific body endorses the AGW theory.
@MonkeyNutStudios Generally, anything in quote marks on my comments is a quotation of whatever Im replying to - so the petition claim was someone elses - I merely said the same as you, which is that practically anyone can sign it.
@TelecasterLPGTop They aren't PAID to support anything, they are paid to do research in their fields of expertise. And it so happens that the scientists with expertise in climate change (No, I am not including Al Gore when I talk of experts) overwhelmingly support AGW. "The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change", - Science 3 December 2004, Volume 306. no. 5702, p1686 DOI 10.1126/science.1103618. The argument against AGW however is most likely 'PAID' by large oil companies
" It's worse than we thought " and the really terrible thing is that we don't have an ounce of evidence to support all the alarming climate nonsense we have invented.
Climate Change is a serious problem. Sea level rises, famine and ah apocolyptic Labor Govts. Sea level rises are the big ones, that's why Rudd, Flannery, Blanchett, Gore and all the rest of the alarmist creators have recently bought beachside properties ... to shield us from the ravages of sea level rises ... thumbs up if I'm right.
@PottSie2 It's true. All those climate change people have bouthg beach side properties because they know that their policies will slow down sea level rises.
@PottSie2 sea levels rising is the least important thing to worry about, you gotta worry more about the heat being kept in from the CO2 in the atmosphere,at this rate we will end up like venus before the sea levels cause any real damage
@bazzaman911 Studies of ice core samples have shown CO2 levels follow temperature rises, not the other way around. Stop believing the crap put out by people like Al Gore. We had 100 years of industrial revolution. 100 years of factories pumping out crap, day and night. We're all still here. Ice caps still here. Polar bears, Pengiuns, all still here. Wake up.
One day, a few plants came up with a great way to siphon money from the other plants. They created a report stating oxygen was destroying the world and it needed to be reduced to save the planet. All the other plants plants of the world believed them and gave all their money to the few saying, "Save us." Little did they know it would be their own demise when all the oxygen breathers died off leaving them no CO2 to so they could breathe. But, the few on top had a great party before they died.
yup, seeing as you are scared about people commenting what they feel, and removing free speech i'm flagging you video, for say... hmm scams/fraud?

Common Julia let's 'move forward' from this non-issue and start managing this place before the US fucks us tenfold through its poor management. If you can't do it, and judging by track record labor can't, get people who can.

@susanaandsam "Look back some 20 years when the then the government said "No, the scientists are wrong there is no climate change"
Which government said that? Certainly not the same one we have now.
"Then the hole in the ozone layer grew and grew and they did nothing."
...except ban the use of the CFCs which were responsible for much of the damage.
ferrett78 7 months ago
I don't think the problem with Labor is that they say climate change is bad. The problem is the carbon tax. Anyone that has been born on any day other than yesterday knows that governments take money for one reason that they say is the most important thing right now. Then after a couple months they use that money for something else. A couple years later they will need more money for some other really important thing. I'm sitting here wondering why we still have stamp duty.

For everyone that doesn't know, there is actually no evidence to prove global warming. Tests have actually found that the earth's temperature has dropped in the last 10 years and not increased. There has also been no proof of polar ice caps melting.

ainsleywainsley 7 months ago 3
@ainsleywainsley You can call it bullshit but you'd be disagreeing with thousands of scientists and academics specialising in the various fields related to climate change. Do you have any expertise to back up your 'bullshit' claim? Or are you too bogged down in the political argument to acknowledge science?
indoril007 7 months ago
@ainsleywainsley In that time, the concentration of CO2 has risen by around 40%. Industry produces over 100 times the CO2 emissions of average volcanic activity each year. I wouldnt say we've 'completely destroyed' the atmosphere, but we can certainly change it's composition.
ferrett78 7 months ago
It's revealing how shifty-eyed & hesitant Bob Brown is, like he knows of some hidden agenda, and almost like he's making it up.
I read the Gillard-Combe (ex pro-Moscow Wharfie union boss) "clean energy future" manifesto where it admits that "some of the costs of the carbon tax may be passed on to consumers".
I notice it doesn't rule out that all of the carbon price might be passed on to us (it does claim to police More than the carbon price being passed on).
How will that stop CO2 emissions?

firemonkey4me 7 months ago
@firemonkey4me Yes global warming is happening, only a retard would say it's not, but taxing it is not the right way to fix the problem. Simply giving the government money for the carbon you have produced won't lower carbon outputs and make the world green. The government is just taking your money, and aren't doing anything to help the environment with it.
ricksyrisks 7 months ago
@firemonkey4me You can go to wikipedia to look this up or anywhere. Australia produces less than 1% of global carbon. And you will see, India, Asia, Russia, America up there.
Now.. you think so what, who cares. We should lead a good example right? Well, that's a bit hard. Considering Asia said they will NOT have a carbon tax, India said they will NOT have a carbon tax, America said they WON'T have a carbon tax if either of them don't. So tell me, why are we paying for less than 1% pollution?
ProphetofGod 7 months ago 3
@ProphetofGod Australia produces 1.5%, the same as the UK, italy, and other such countries.
On a per-person bases, Australia is one of the highest in the world, if not, the highest.
imlay1992 7 months ago
@firemonkey4me yes, thats what makes there argument a joke. the upsides far outweigh the downsides and the only pocket that there going to be taking from with that is people who deserve it.
nelsdogmadjesus 7 months ago
@firemonkey4me The problem with the tax is that in its current form it won't do anything to reduce CO2 emissions. This is because too many polluting industries are exempted and some of those that aren't will be compensated. The main problem is monopolisation of the electricity infrastructure. Most people have no alternative choice and the cost of whackong solar panels on a roof is beyond most. Check my vid for an alternative watch?v=qImNRuV4G0Q

MottTheWot 7 months ago
@MottTheWot Climate change has always been the term used. Global warming refers to the fact that our planet is heating up after the last period of glaciation. Anthropogenic global warming refers to the part of global warming that is caused by man. Carbon is an element that is present in CO2, one of the "greenhouse" gases in our atmosphere. If you don't want to look like an idiot to everyone around you, study the facts instead of shouting anti-intellectual slogans.

Bob Brown using scare tactics to justify wealth redistribution should have charges brought against him for his claims. This is not parliamentary privilege when they lie and scare the electorate, this is Fraud, Bob Brown knows there is no empirical scientific evidence that supports man made contribution to climate change, there is no consensus except in his imagination, there is no sign of the sea levels rising, our temperature is not increasing, The Greens are culpable in this Fraud
thefirst121 7 months ago
@thefirst121 "there is no empirical scientific evidence that supports man made contribution to climate change"
Yes, there is. Thousands of papers in dozens of journals across numerous fields of science, published in a variety of countries with vastly different governments and ideologies. It's really not hard to find.
"there is no consensus"
Well, it's practically impossible to get 100% consensus in any field of human endeavour, but definitely the majority of peak science bodies acknowledge AGW.
ferrett78 7 months ago
@ferrett78 Yes, it's been proven that CO2 does cause warming and that there may be a degree or two at the worst if CO2 levels are doubled. It's the far-left professors and politicians though that have taken that science and tried to turn it into a doomsday scenario.
ComicPenius 7 months ago
@ComicPenius 2 degrees for a doubling of pre-industrial levels is about mid range for models, but seems to be about where we are tracking so far. Its worth noting that we are already around 40% of the way to doubling CO2 already though, and barely any action has been taken to slow the large scale accumulation of CO2 thus far. Also, a 2 degree warming does not translate as 2 degrees everywhere - its an average for the globe.
ferrett78 7 months ago
@ferrett78 Rubbish. The scientists who support AGW are PAID to do so, their careers depend on it as it has become an industry. On the other hand we have tens of thousands of UNPAID scientists with lots to lose and nothing to gain who disagree with anthropomorphic global warming. What about the 30,000 who are suing Al Gore for his propaganda piece, " An Inconvenient Truth". On the rare occasion that a debate is organized the Global Warming crowd try to stack the deck. Sorry I'm not buying it.
TelecasterLPGTop 7 months ago
@TelecasterLPGTop "The scientists who support AGW are PAID to do so"
Erm, no, they are paid to examine the data and come to conclusions regardless of the findings. If they are incorrect, it would not take much for a scientist in another country with another agenda to demonstrate they are inaccurate, yet this rarely seems to be the case.
"their careers depend on it"
Their careers depend more on reporting accurate results. Scientists with poor research methodology dont keep their employment long.
ferrett78 7 months ago
@TelecasterLPGTop " On the other hand we have tens of thousands of UNPAID scientists with lots to lose and nothing to gain who disagree with anthropomorphic global warming."
Really? Where are they hiding?
"What about the 30,000 who are suing Al Gore"
You mean the internet petition that anyone can sign? Less than 1% of the signatories are even qualified in climate science. Practically every major scientific body endorses the AGW theory.

ferrett78 7 months ago
@TelecasterLPGTop They aren't PAID to support anything, they are paid to do research in their fields of expertise. And it so happens that the scientists with expertise in climate change (No, I am not including Al Gore when I talk of experts) overwhelmingly support AGW. "The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change", - Science 3 December 2004, Volume 306. no. 5702, p1686 DOI 10.1126/science.1103618. The argument against AGW however is most likely 'PAID' by large oil companies
