R.U.D.I. is the only voice that is a near match. The George Jetson voice is closer sounding to Don Adams. Maybe you should try Tennessee Tuxedo. Spacely's voice is not supposed to be so gravelly. Originally Blanc's voice for Spacely was an imitation of Hal Peary's "Great Gildersleve" character, or more like Foghorn Leghorn withouth the Southern Accent. He was doing Yosemity Sam for the new episodes and Gordon Hunt never corrected. Just don't ruin your vocal chords doing this.
Do you suppose Mr. Spacely was so mean and nasty to Jetson was because he wanted to see what kind of a man Jetson was if he finally stood up to him. Did Spacely deep dow thin that Jetson had alot of potential or was Spacely just plain nasty and fire Jetson whether he had some backbone or not?
@67nairb I think you're looking too far into it, in every show or novel there is a good guy and a bad guy, Hanna and Barbara decided to create these characters to fill those roles, and it shows their traits in such circumstances, and in real life, the voice actors were friends, so in a way when you get right down to it, its only a show and they are only characters in said show. The show is meant to entertain them and make them laugh and happy. Thats what Mel Blanc and George O'Hanlon gave to us.
@Futurevoiceactor I'm sure George O'Hanlon and Mel Blanc were good friends in real life, that wasn't the point of my post my friend. The point I was making was that Mr. Spacely has always been my least favorite cartoon character, he was pretty bad in the old 60s JETSON'S episodes, but he was alot worse in the 80s versions. He was a mean, nasty, viscous, hateful little man imho and didn't find him funny at all. Perhaps you're right my friend, maybe I am looking too far into it.
@Futurevoiceactor I don't know why I have such issues with Mr. Spacely, but I do-lol. Why do people hate Frank Barrone from EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND so much? Why do they hate Louis DePalma from TAXI, or Nellie Olson from LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE or JR Ewing from DALLAS etc? Sorry, but Spacely is one Hanna-Barbera bad guy I don't like at all. But there are two HB bad guys who I absolutely love, Dick Dastardly & Muttley.
@Futurevoiceactor I was never big JETSONS anyway. It never appealed to me the way THE FLINTSTONES and other Hanna-Barbera cartoons did. And btw I love Mel Blanc, he was my favorite cartoon voice actor and still is.
Stereotypical ill tempered bosses who berate and fire their emplyees at will has been a staple in movies, tv and even cartoons for about 80 years. It's so typical and predictable but most audiences like it. But who would want to sit and watch a sitcom, let alone cartoon where a nasty, cruel and malicious boss continues to berate, and verbally abuse their employees and single out one employee for special treatment? People see enough of that in real life.
Spacely took malicious "pleasure" in making Jetson's life at work a living hell. I wish George had the nerve to stand up to his miserable rotten boss. In the 80s episodes Jetson was a spineless jellyfish. In the 60s episodes he had more backbone and in those episodes THE JETSONS was more for adults whereas the 80s episodes was more geared for kids.
@67nairb A boss like Mr. Spacely really hits home; holding an employee's life in the balance. I guess most people have had a boss like Mr. Spacely in their lifetime. I'm one of the few fortunate ones never to have such a boss. A show like the JETSONS is proof that space age technology and labor free devices can't guarantee happiness and security. People still have to work for a living and sometimes for an ill-tempered boss.
Mr. Spacely was pretty bad in the 1962-63 episodes of the JETSONS. But in the 80s version he was even worse. He was not only ill-tempered in those episodes but also viscous, hateful, cruel and mean spirited. Not only that there were even a few 80s episodes in which Spacely man handled Jetson. It's a wonder that Jetson didn't sue Spacely for that. Spacely even seemed to take malicious in making Jetson's life at his job a living hell.
@meeboot Mr. Slate wasn't a ruthless boss or even all that bad for that matter. Slate wasn't a mean boss; he was stern and sometimes lost his temper but not mean. And sometimes his frustration and anger with Fred Flinstone was justified when he goofed off on his job or did other things he shouldn't have. Mr. Slate was a good fair-minded boss who was highly respected not only by his employees but by the town of Bedrock itself. Slate was no Spacely.
@meeboot He's right. You do a much better as the voice of RUDI than you do do Spacely and George. Spacely was one cartoon character I despised the most; even if his voice was done by my favorite voice actor Mel Blanc. I found Mr. Spacely to be a morally bad man, not because he was cheated on his wife (which he didn't; his wife would pulverize him), but because he was mean, hateful, nasty and cruel to George. Makes you wonder why didn't George just quit and work for a nicer boss.
If you only knew how right you are on that! I have wanted to be the next garfield since before Bill Murray did those two garfield movies! I want to eventually take over for Frank Welker as Garfield in the future!
Pretty good your Mr. Spacely is better than what I can do, and in response to when you can hear Jeff Bergman during the exchange when they are talking about the promotion they sound different especially Mr. Spacely.

MR. COGGWELL is no better than mr. Spacely he's ruthless as well
so is MR. SLATE from flintstones. but I think GEORGE should have back-slapped MR. SPACELY a couple of times in few episodes
