Hi, I was just wondering what type of glue would be best suited to the white internals of the magstrike? I currently have araldite, pvc glue and silicone. I would be glueing brass. many tha

@SebMarra I use Selleys Super Strength 2-part epoxy glue (3 day / 72 hrs cure time required for max. bond). So far its the only adhesive that i've used that has been durable enough to hold different types of materials together under high stress loads and maintain air pressures long term without leaks.

@northbrooks Yes, the internals of the Magstrike and Rapid Fire 20 are similar, so this mod can also be done on the Rapid Fire 20 too... though such mods are more effective in clip-fed blasters like the Magstrike 'cos it can have the option to reload multiple clips quickly (instead of having to manually reload foam darts one-by-one).

Is the black stock piece on the back the piece that holds the magstrikes air when you pump it? If it is is it safe to remove that and put a paintball tank on it to shoot the darts via CO2 or Compressed Air? I like to have nerf wars with hard and far shooting blasters. @Wontonwabledoo Yes, the black rubber air bladder stores the compressed air. It's possible to replace it with an alternative compressed air supply, but you'll have to make the air pressure is properly regulated so that it doesn't damage the internal components.

The portable air compressor, battery and harness shown in the video add up to an additional 1kg (2.2lbs) in weight. I've since reduced the weight by another 30% with lighter portable air compressors and smaller batteries.

Nope, Nerf does not sell Magstrike clips separately. You have to either get clips from other Magstrikes or trade with other Magstrike users.

Well, my Magstrikes are all modded with additional space in the air bladder chamber, so that their air bladders can be filled up with enough air volume to fire 2-3 clips at one go. Because of this larger reserve of air, once the initial air volume is filled, the air compressor has extra air volume "buffer" to just pump air when required to maintain the pressure, hence allowing it to continuously fire clips non-stop.

The air compressor i use runs on a manual switch system, so i installed a seperate "push-to-off" switch behind the air bladder chamber to create an auto shut-off system. You can read the entire step-by-step mod guide at my Mod Works site.

Any batteries can be used, as long as the total voltage averages 12V, enough  to power the motorised air pump.

It depends on the mAh capacity of the battery. The one i use in the video is a very compact 1.3 Ah (1,300 mAh) 12V sealed rechargable battery. It can power the pump long enough to provide air capacity to fire 40-50 clips before it requires recharging.

The Dart Tag versions of the Magstrikes come packaged with 2 clips per set. The Iron Man versions and N-Strike versions only come with 1 clip per set. I have a few sets of the Dart Tag Magstrikes, thats how i have an ample supply of clips. :)

Not sure if you are talking about the same blaster here... but the Magstrike's range is not determined by the number of pumps to the air bladder.

The Magstrike's air volume only determines the number of shots that can be fired. The Magstrike firing piston regulates the same air pressure for every shot, so each shot has the same range.

I think you must have got it confused with other air-tank based single-shot blasters. :)

I test fired in both full-auto and burst-fire simply to demonstrate that Magstrikes can fire using the 2 methods. Nothing to do with the air-pressure.

Well, the Magstrike is designed with an air-regulated firing piston which fires in either full-auto or burst-fire (just pull the trigger briefly to fire in short 2-3 shot bursts).

If you want it to fire just one shot at a time, you'll have to mod it. Though it'll kinda defeat the purpose of getting a Magstrike in the first place.

There are other air-powered blasters that are designed to single-fire in semi-auto, ie. Hornet, Blast Fire, Tetra-Strike etc.
