Ethanol is subsidized in the USA because other countries do it. Ditto with oil. Methanol is cheaper to produce than either, but doesn't mean the other two don't have a place. We need more videos like this... and better sound, please.
it's impossible to reply to all of the misleading statements and falsehoods in this video. the math and economics behind methanol favor no one but the corn farmers in states that benefit from the subsidies.
the level of prevarication on this subject is just one of the reasons that most Americans hold Congress, on average, in such low esteem.
@plusaf You appear to be confusing Methanol and Ethanol. The video is about Methanol but the stuff that gets made from corn is Ethanol. Methanol is usually generated from coal or natural gas, but it can also be made from municipal waste, industrial flue gases, and just about any feedstock that contains carbon. Unlike Ethanol, there aren't any subsidies for producing methanol. Frankly, if you don't like Ethanol subsidies, then you should be supporting Methanol adoption.
