Ha --I remember hating people with zeroes in their number and having to go to the bank when it was open every time I wanted cash. Louis is the best comic on here.
I am only 56 but when I was a teenager, LSD was not even illegal yet, we bought M80s or kilos of pot in brown bags. AIDS had not been invented and I have never used a condom. Seatbelts were not used by anybody and people went thru windsheilds all the time. I went 100 mph in the city many times. Helmets weren't required on motorcycles; we didn't even have licenses when we were under 16 and we'd ride across town without them. Telephones, we used alligator clips and used somebody elses line.
Well, Todd - AIDS wasn't "invented." And if you were such a lawbreaker, I don't doubt you're a loser at 56 also. We DID have seatbelts - they were up on the roofline above the window and you actually had to take them out of the clips and put them back - no retraction, so they were kind of a pain. But I used them in 1967. 100MPH in the city? Too bad you didn't stop wasting air and slam into a tree.
You rightwing Republican types always hate my freedom. No doubt you are a Xtian. both of you old assholes shut the fuck up. nobody cares about how you had to ride dinosaurs to school and how newspapers were just big rocks chiseled with hieroglyphics.
Rotary phone (no touchtone), no voicemail, no ATM, rarely actually using your credit card and if you do, it's manual... actually at least the last one is still true for some places! It's really funny to watch him go off like that and recognise, yeah, it is incredible I'm on a seat in the air!
'and whiny liberals agitate for free medical care for these "poor" people.' Yep wouldn't want the USA to join the rest of the modern western world now - would we ?
We live in a country where "poor" people can eat so much they're obese, and whiny liberals agitate for free medical care for these "poor" people.
I mentioned this to some of our Pakistani contractors overseas, and they were disgusted and amused. If you're fat, how can you be "poor"? Only in America.
If you live in a poor urban neighborhood where there are no supermarkets to buy fruits or vegetables, you'll be obese AND suffer malnutrition. In certain neighborhoods there's nowhere outdoors to exercise without getting mugged/shot.
Yes, as if most "poor people" don't also have cars. Or as if "poor urban neighborhoods" don't have, say, PUBLIC TRANSIT to get you to the supermarket.

putting all teens into a box together because of the terrible decisions of some. These decisions, which are blown out of proportion and obsessed over anyway, are all society will focus on. There's plenty of brilliant, good and hard working teens. I don't understand why old and bitter jerks like him have to say things like this like "All teens suck because of a few decisions" HOW MANY BAD DECISIONS HAS HE MADE!? I say think and know what you're saying before you jump to such a bold conclusion.
He's right about underappreciation of this generation. However, the reason why no one is happy is because we realize greater truth: it's either everyone or no one. We're tired of pyramid exploitation schemes. Leeches, who get up in the top by being evil and use everyone else for their personal benefit. We also hate being put into system, where you are a number, a someone else's meal, where your life is already predetermined and decided.
Hehe scripture DO NOT qualify as thoughts. Thats my point. And that goes for the rest of religiouos dogma. Nothing to do with THINKING or REASON. Quite the opposite.
The influence on science doesn't escape the common social thread, nor the arbitrary circumstances that enforce it. It's creativity and critical thought that lead to progress. why do you care so much how people choose to place their values? you're interpretation of discovery is just as arbitrary as anyone elses.. let people guess, and hope they stay open to other guesses. cause really thats all we can do on this ride. who knows: **maybe theres a common ground!?**
umm livininsular, science is more then just guesses. Just because you can catorgorize religion with guesses, doesnt mean you can for science, it's proven with evidence for every theory or advancment they make.
And WHERE do you see that I have poerached anything to you? You don't. You are so dogmatic on getting your point across you've totally missed that you're the one trying to silence others. I think for myself,oh, that reminds me...where did you learn to be a free thinker?
"So, if you are letting yourself be ruled after desert dogmas, keep it to yourself."
So let me get this straight, our right to free speech is (supposedly) trumped by your freethinking, this looks like to *me* that you have the right to say whatever you want (free thinking) and anyone who is in disagreement (with your freethoughts) doesn't have the same rights to speak them ( see above, your comment) that's one sided.
Preachin scripture is working AGAINST free thinking. It's horrible what our kids have to hear as they grow up. All this because of the sick religion inside their parents heads.

"Dont pray in my school and I wont think in your church", would be a good end to this.
Wow! This guy is hilarious! What he says is so true. This was a nice comedic reminder of how ungrateful most of us are and how we need to remember to appreciate our lifestyles.
I read what you said and youtube isn't that big a deal. Also the last time I checked freedom of speech includes one speaking about their faith. It's insulting to me to say that a person should not be allowed to express one of the most important aspects of their life on a mechanism that is how people communicate in this world.
I said Internet, not Youtube. Are you that stupid you cant tell the difference?
Of course freedom of speech includes religion, but it doesnt change the fact that youre insulting yourself and others. But everyone should be able to take insults towards them.
And last time I checked, it was the religios side that didn't like that.
Your subjective opinion states that refering to scripture is insulting, not an objective truth. You say that the internet is a fruit of technological knowledge, science and free thinking. You then disqualify your own argument by stating that religion has NOTHING to do here. Where is the free thinking in that. As well true religion is to visit the fatherless and the widow and keep oneself unspotted from the world. That includes acceptance of people and forgiveness, that is true Christianity. Love
You are free to say and pray to whatever the hell that ives you comfort my misguided friend.
But refering to dogmatic scripture on Internet is equal to preaching hate, it undermines the free thinking of others.
its like cursing in the church.
But yes, that is a price we will pay for 100% freedom of speech. But you will continue to hear about it, when you like a robot quoting the scripture you happened to be born into.
The recognition of obvious yet unseen truth always evokes this feeling, and when it's a shared recognition it makes us aware of our connection (as if to say, "You recognize it too?)
Unfortunately, TSA is conspiring to suck all the fun out of air travel. It's hard to get in that "WOO THIS IS AWESOME!" mindset when you've had your toothpaste thrown out because it might be a bomb and you got gum on your sock because you weren't allowed to wear your shoes through the metal detector.
everything he mentioned is so true we take way too many things for granted and dont even realize the opportunity we have at doing the simple of things.
Definately the times were simpler. And I do remember the rotary phone...and the 'party line'! I think in a way we are getting back to that, although I enjoy technology. I feel the Internet has allowed community, consciousness to raise, people to not feel so alone if they are different, etc. I feel the young people are going to be a great generation helping us. They already have shown, I feel, their concern and caring for the planet. It's all moving forward. xo Beki
I totally, totally agree. I'm 21 and I'm absolutely amazed at how many good things we have in this day and age. I think the problem with not being able to appreciate the technologies we have is that you need to know more about history before you can understand how nice the things we have are right now.
Absolutely spot-on. This guy knows where it's at! We've had chip-and-PIN in the UK for a mere couple of years now, and yet when I visited New York last month and had to sign my name to use my credit card my reaction was that it was a little primitive! It's all about perspective :)
you know, I'm still amazed that I can give a guy 42 cents and he'll bring my letter anywhere in the US, even if its on the other side of the country. His funny jeep burns more gas stopping at my mailbox just to get the letter. Fax machines were when I realized the world had magic in it though.

Of course freedom of speech includes religion, but it doesnt change the fact that youre insulting yourself and others. But everyone should be able to take insults towards them.
And last time I checked, it was the religios side that didn't like that.
risterapi 3 years ago
Your subjective opinion states that refering to scripture is insulting, not an objective truth. You say that the internet is a fruit of technological knowledge, science and free thinking. You then disqualify your own argument by stating that religion has NOTHING to do here. Where is the free thinking in that. As well true religion is to visit the fatherless and the widow and keep oneself unspotted from the world. That includes acceptance of people and forgiveness, that is true Christianity. Love
scotthughesphotog 3 years ago
Well free thinking needs religon and dogma like the human body need tumours.
Dont you ever mix free thinkers with scripture and the people refering to it.
Thats why religius people dont qualify to use Internet, they are against free thinking. Not commiting to it.
risterapi 3 years ago
It seems that your "free thinking" has enslaved you to your own dogma of what you interpret free thinking to be.
I think we need to agree to disagree.
Is being open minded simply agreeing with what you term to be the truth? Isn't objective truth by its very nature, exclusive?
Please reconsider your stance.
Read the truth for yourself and make your own decisions.

Wow. You are a huge bummer. There is nothing more depressing than someone who thinks they know everything.

SO SIMPLISTIC, it's pathetic. Yet, discernible bits of truth.
These days it doesn't take much to entertain us ... PITY.
edmundpet 3 years ago
The recognition of obvious yet unseen truth always evokes this feeling, and when it's a shared recognition it makes us aware of our connection (as if to say, "You recognize it too?)
I don't think it's a pity at all....

So true. I may be young enough to be a part of this generation but I was raised to be grateful for what I have. I totally agree! Get a life people!!

I love it when Conan genuinely laughs at his guests jokes, always a sign of a good comedian.
psycold 3 years ago
Not only that, but Conan's not AFRAID to laugh as pretty much every other talk show host seems to be. Conan's the best.

It's all moving forward. xo Beki

So true. People complain about the smallest things now.
Bloodbath087 3 years ago
I totally, totally agree. I'm 21 and I'm absolutely amazed at how many good things we have in this day and age. I think the problem with not being able to appreciate the technologies we have is that you need to know more about history before you can understand how nice the things we have are right now.

Louis CK is describing pretty much every American white male under the age of 35 here. The biggest spoiled brats in the history of mankind.
