Let me make this clear as a Deist: The Book of Revelation is correct in describing the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D. .....but wrong in the Pauline doctrine of Jesus return and rapture. Jesus is not the Creator....he is a jewish man who has been falsely worshipped as the Creator. Let me add: There is a Creator I am just believing in the 50% probability versus the other probability of Atheism(the other 50% probability). Deism is based on causality(cause & effect) of the universe.
I was dispensationalist until I heard and read Gary Demar and others from the view point of preterism and I dwel ind the land of Jan Markell and KKMS radio who are a distortion of Gods Truth on the subject Thank God for these Brothers who are using the Word and God has open the eyes of many around here ... A N Cohen
Paul spoke about such teachings when he told gentile believers not to boast against the root. People like DeMar are so filled with pride that they must twist the Bible to take away the importance of God's covenant with Israel. If they would take the Bible as it is they couldn't miss the fact that Israel is still in God's eternal plans. However, their ungodly bias against God's chosen people causes them to twist scripture to say what they want it to say.
I'll spare anybody some time who is going to watch this video. It took him 10 minutes to say that DarrellMyatt1963's video on preterism is hypocritical because Darrell's futurist views were also championed by early Catholics. 10 minutes to get that point across? Really? Come on guys. Gary Demar holds a partial preterist view in case anybody wants to know that as well.
Your description has the name wrong. DeMar is addressing *Darrell* Myers, not Stephen Myers. People might get confused with the ID scientist Stephen Meyer. Other than that, I like the presentation.
I will answer the question above. Preterism is exactly what God was mentioning when He stated that we should not boast against the root. It is man's way of twisting the scriptures to stroke his gentile pride. I went to a church that started to teach partial preterism back in 2003. My wife and I could not stand hearing them call the God who had died for us and saved us a liar and covenant breaker. They didn't say those words but removing Israel is the same as calling God these things.
So how does Islam and Nuclear Weapons affect Preterism's validity? We might get blown up in the not too distant future by crazy Muslims with Nuclear missiles.
@Xallia621 Doesn't it say that the last days will have to be shortened to preserve life on earth? I forget where it says that but it says something like that.
@LifeIsABigPuzzle Not to preserve life, from my understanding. You're thinking of Matthew 24:22 :) - And except those days should be shortened , there should no flesh be saved : but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
I think it's speaking in terms of the carnal flesh, because immediately after "flesh" we read "be saved," so I am prone to understand it in terms of being read regarding our salvation ^_^
@LifeIsABigPuzzle: It says in Matthew that, unless the days when the Antichrist returns be shortened, no flesh will be saved. In Revelation, it says that it will be shortened to five months, or the time of the locust.
I read Matthew Henry's entire discourse in his commentary on the book of Revelation to find out what the historical church taught and it was partial Preterism.
The majority of the early church fathers were NOT premillenialists? That too is a new one. Even every preterists I've talked to confesses that much.
And your statement that the early father premills borrowed their premillenial ideas from Jewish sources, not the bible, is ABSURD!!
What's your support for such a fantastic claim?? Even if they misinterpreted the passage, there no more obvious millenial statement than Rev 20., not to mention countless OT passages.
Your bringing up Jehovah's Witnesses is a bit of a cheap shot. The whole concept of a "cult" is the twisting of the truth found in the bible. The fact that JW's twist futurists propchecy actually lends support that there is a future prophecy to be found in the bible. They also twist salvation by faith, the divnity of Christ, hell, heaven, etc. Does that mean these concepts are non-biblical as well?
No cults out there twisting preterism that I know of.
I find it a bit ironic that to prove your point that dispensational teaching is an invention of Darby, you've said in other videos that this view was foreign before 1830 yet in this video you say that this same view is virtuall identical to Francisco Rabara, a priest who lived in the 1500's.
The main, underlying difference between preterism, futurism and historicism, is the fact that, generally, both preterists & futurists claim that the 1260 days in Dan.7 &12, Rev. 11, 12 &13, should be seen as a literal 3.5 years. This is contrary to the historic Protestant position that saw the 1260 days as literal YEARS. The Historicist method is consistent in utilizing the DAY=YEAR principle with respect to the time prophecies given in Daniel and Revelation.

So, what is a partial preterist anyways ? You believe some events still are yet to be fulfilled ?
Also, how come the Vatican and others want one world currency then ??

@philosophy7575 At 9:30 DeMar makes the same mistake and refers to him as "Stephen" Meyers.

@LifeIsABigPuzzle And? Prove that the Bible speaks of nuclear missiles. It goes both ways.
