dude. I played this alright. This game has got to be one of the most lovable, frustrating, hair pulling experiences of my video game career. I started playing it young, got schooled, and was not satisfied until I got all the gold cards and beat hard mode and got the gold cards again. Man. those levels were FUCKING HARD! all the rainbow palace stuff? insane! one mistake and you were a burning coal on a floating platform! and yet.. there was something oddly satisfying about that..

This music honestly has the power to make me cry. I used to play this game every day with my two brothers when I was younger. Both of them are now on different sides of the country. Now every time I try to play this game I remember all the good times I had with it, and that it will never be that way again. Eventually I just quit after two minutes because it brings back too many memories...enjoy your childhood while you still have it :(

It's a shame that Hudson makes tons of "classic" Bomberman remakes for every system known to man, but they never make a sequel to Bomberman 64. Imagine that on the Wiiu, Wii, 3ds PS3 or Xbox. One player would be the white bomberman, the other would be Regulus. That would be Hudson's greatest game(s)

@jopejaful I agree, this seemed to be one of the only Bomberman games that tried a new approach. Even the multiplayer was different, what with coming back as ghosts after you die and being able to throw opponents off the sides.

@Bluedino549 It's wasn't Koji Kondo actually, it was Akifumi Tada. Seems you assume that every Nintendo game is composed by Koji Kondo, and that every game on a Nintendo console was developed by Nintendo themselves. This was a Hudson Soft game.

Had this game for as long long probaly not so long since It came out I think. Was great, just got stuck on boss battles, that lava stage with the switches. The funny part out of all of this is that every boss battle I died repeately 'cause I failed. But when I beat the main boss guy in one go I was like O.o. Failed so hard against the other guys and the big boss rolled around beat him in one go, that was last year lol

@pochazet It's crazy...I actually remember the day that I got this game lol...December 27, 1999 :P I had just gotten the N64 for Christmas 2 days earlier, and I bought this game with my Christmas money. I was in the 4th grade, and once I put it in the system, I literally could not put it down. Ended up beating it a month later (Had issues with the gold cards in the volcano level--the gold card in the 3rd stage in the crate caused me soo much pain at that time :P haha). Greatest game ever!

idc what anyone says this is the best bomberman game ever. well i haven't played bomberman online for dreamcast, but to me this is the best. the battle mode was really good its different from the others. cmon picking up your opponent and throwing them off the field is so funny and collecting gold cards, custom parts and the music are very good. i love bomb jumping you did really have to think doing that to get to certain areas. this was my first n64 game =p

Second best IMHO. I love this game because it changed the bomberman formula up and made such a great transition into 3D. That being said though, if you haven't you should track down and play Saturn Bomberman. That, is the absolute best Bomberman game ever, IMO.

People say this game is bad because of the battle mode, but I think the single player stands really well on it's own. It's kind of a... puzzle/exploration game. with wicked bosses and incredible music.

This and Pocket Bomberman. With a few more levels and a bit more spit polish, Pocket Bomberman would make for an awesome sequel.

Oh, and Hero. Bomberman Hero was also cool.

I don't believe the music actually had an author, I think the team theat made the game simply came up with the music, similar to the Goemon Production Team making the N64 Mystical Ninja Game (another massive trip down Memory Lane).

Nonetheless, this music is just plain awesome, and perfect for an late 90s N64 game.
