Beautifull music. And I am proud to have been one of John Gladwin's guitar pupils way back in 1977/8. His lessons served me well and I still play today, over 30 years later. God bless you Mr. Gladwin!
Brings back memories of the best of the 1970's. I remember watching Jack Hargreaves series "Out Of Town", and when you look at it now, you can't believe it was only 30+ years ago, lots of interesting rustic characters living lives that hadn't changed for hundreds of years. Its a sadder place without them, but so glad I was around to see the last embers of that way of life.
Originally heard them on the late and lamented Max Ferguson radio show on CBC here in Canada. Saw one of their LPs on sale at a flea market in Rome a few years ago but didn't pick it up. Thanks Youtube for reviving some old memories!
John Gladwin..what a case..I love this album..but the best song is Celestial Light..I'll have to try and find it now probably in the loft..see you all soon
I first saw AB in 1971 supporting Quintessence and Cat Stevens at Liverpool Stadium. This was by far the best concert I have ever, ever been to. I'm going to look for the CDs now - I didn't know you could buy them! Long live the crumhorn!
Gli Amanzing Blondel mi hanno accompagnato, insieme ad altri gruppi, negli anni della gioventù. La loro è una musica dolce e raffinata, armonie di spazi aperti e voci di primavera. Grazie per averli condivisi.
Yea he does still play, not so much with Amazing Blondel though, he does more his own stuff.. You can hear a snippet of some of his stuff on myspace "Ebbatsonbaird". A couple of albums i can think of off the top of my head are "Abbey Cottage" and "Also"
This was the first LP I ever bought, back in 1972 or -73 when I had left home to go to university. Today I am a theatre director and writer, still inspired (among other things of course)by Amazing Blondel and your dads music, when I stage and write pieces in historical/medieval settings. I live in Sweden. Please give my thanks and appreciation to your dad whenever you have the opportunity.
Your father is one of the best guitar players that i ever listen an strong influence into my life and i my poor musical skills, tell him that we are grateful with their work, thank you
First saw Amazing Blondel at Skipton Castle in 1972 when they were the support for Julie Felix and Sutherland Brothers. Never mind the main acts - AB totally blew me away! Was glad when recordings came out on CD as I'd just about worn out the vinyl by then! Thanks v. much for posting. Wish we could get more from the chaps.
saw amazing blondel in 1970 in a pub in Hull. they were great, they even lugged a huge wooden organ up the stairwell to the room they gigged in, an abiding memory
saw blondel in the 1970 at the bluebell pub in Hull, they were awesome and they even humped a huge organ up the tiny staircase to the room they were playing in . one of my abiding memories
ohmy... what an uneathly beauty, this music... although I am a youngster ( learned about this band by someone who actually knew this band from his own youth, I have birthyear 1968 alas), I am a fan from this band ever since I first heard their songs.
It was a jolly good thing to see that the elderly chaps have tried to join in with whatever - hopefully their health will extend. I like/buy all of their stuff even the not great 'Bad Dreams' from 2 of them on vinyl. KeepVid and FLV converter (stick its output to e.g. PAL VCD HQ or whatever ...) to get Windows/Nero usable file ... Good luck chaps - enjoyed your last 3+ CD/DVD releases in last few years - ta from my wife etc and me.
Loved It! The last pic on the video where the lads are sat on the kitchen table was taken at Shibden Hall, Halifax where I have worked for 26 years. The photos for Fantasia Lindum and Restoration were taken there. Brilliant band! Tony Sharpe, Shibden Hall.
thank you for this video! It reminds me of my teen age, of an old boyfriend who recorded all the Amazing Blondel records for me and it also reminds me the English countryside that is so beautiful as you show in our video
I was listening to Pandora(an amazing service, you pick an artist and they play similar musicians) and this amazing song came on . I went to Youtube, and I have just discovered this amazing group. Off to the CD store. They are amazing!Kay Kuck
I saw them too in Middlesbrough,,however one night the heat had ruined the strings on the instruments,,and John stormed off stage,,lol*,,I saw them many times in the early 70s,,still enjoy them,,

Wow, this band was a late discovery for me soem 7 years ago ( being a youngster of 38 ) but I was captured immediately... and now to be seen here, thanks for posting!!
Certo Mike!! Ciao sono Angelo , pensa ke li ho visti a Londra nel 1974 al Marquee e avevo il disco Fantasia Lindum da quando è uscito. Guarda gli altri miei video se puoi e dimmi cosa ne pensi. Ciao di nuovo

I had one of their albums in the 70s. Ridiculously twee music, but always nicely arranged & performed .

Blondel are awesome.
I first saw them support Free in 197?
Then with Procol Harem where they wiped the floor with the so called bigger band.
Tear in the eye listening to this - fabulous.
Give my best to your dad.
