  • We Italians can be proud......of the past!

  • Isn't this the NBC Symphony rather than the N.Y. Philharmonic? I don't remember him conducting the Philharmonic in 1953.

  • Oooh i have been looking for this particular recording for years. The storm scene is so exhilarating and at 5:00 where the storm is winding down the orchestra crescendos and decrescendos mimicking the up and down of waves in the storm!

I haven't heard any other conductors doing the storm scene this way.

I used to play timpani in H.S. and it was such a joy doing Rossini's songs.

Strings, reeds, brass, percussion, dynamics........Rossini knew how to mix and match. Textures! Nostalgico80 si

  • One of the best 20th century classical recordings (parts 1 @ 2).

    The crescendo is glorious!

  • @YTM021807 glorious! Yes!

  • The great cellist Frank Miller !!!

  • wonderful the cello opening tune. It is not possible to be done other ways: this is the right one.

  • Nice job of editing the still pictures to complement the music!

  • @Rettihsllub Thank you

  • The crescendo that starts at 4:10 is like a Tsunami wave

  • Toscanini al 100%, dalle pause all'impeto nei crescendo.
