U.S. intelligence has proven to be wrong time and time again, and while Putin may have hidden billions, he has also been an effective leader and under him Russia has made great strides. While Russia is no doubt more corrupt than the West, one would have to be naive to suggest the West isn't corrupt to a certain degree.

Thanks to our xenophobic Western media, the picture I've gotten of Putin is that he's a dictatorial, corrupt politician who doesn't give a damn about his people. But after doing some investigation of my own, I can't really find anything that suggests that he fits into those prejudices, he's just straightforward, which I appreciate. Can anyone with better knowledge tell me what is true? Did the Russian people vote for Putin in a fair election? Is he a lying hypocrite or in fact a great leader?
