15 minutes of Bach fucking around on a violin is more interesting then a lot of Mozart and Beethoven's carefully crafted symphonies. It's musical anarchy. A performance standard, but they would probably still have to consider it avant garde if it came out today it's so chaoric and disjointed. There is not much more you can do with a solo violin. And a great performance of it.
I really enjoy your interpretation of this piece. It reminds me of Heifetz somehow... not overexpressive, yet full of emotion. This violin sounds gorgeous with Bach too!
oh and for the recording i was using a Hill violin. I like it for Bach. I've used Strads and such but for some reason I like the ol' British Hill for it.
It does have that kind of homey sound, which is somewhat reminiscent of the country side, yet at the same time hollow sounding and not full. Sounds like it has a good response. It'd be nice if the G-String has more umph to it and the E-string a tad bit more brightness. Strictly in my opinion.
@JethroZeaHopper hey dude! good, just busy getting things together. planning out some massive touring, so much random office work though now to get it set up! it's stressful for me ha
nah 13 isn't too early. i think i was a little bit older but i had to come back to the piece after the first time and changed around my interpretation. i'm coming back to it again now and finding out i'm changing stuff again! so it's good you're starting on it early and best of luck with it!
It doesn'y matter what age you are. It only matters how accomplished you are in the art of playing the violin. I assume you are very accomplished if you are attempting this piece at the age of 13. Congradulations to you!
@mdenny19 I understand you. I am 14 and I feel like I want to try this. Its heartbreaking-ly beautiful. I have fallen in love with this. It really does tell a story of grief and sorrow about death. The middle sounds like he is reminiscing about the heart.
@broadwayloverny10 doesn't it? It is really a musical triptytch wherein the first part he remembers the death of a lover, and then in the middle part he reminisces of all the good times, then in the final part he stirs anew, realising that his lover is really gone, and letting go with a deep, soulful prayer.

@Zengy1 I'm really sorry for what I'm about to do right now. It's "breed," not "bread." Bread is what we eat.
