It's not that people are upset about the "new media" being used. It's what they're using it to present. Moving pointless pictures around on and calling it news is a waste of effort. Just show a video of what you're talking about and move on.
Using the screen is almost as bad as youtube. Using video cameras to record tvs. Wasting time, degrading quality, and looking stupid. They should at least use a screen capture program and switch between screens. Or they could just show the pictures like normal tv news.
i don't think a news segment is the perfect place for such a great technology. while it might look cool, for the watcher it has no value at all, this segment was just about showing diferent pictures, a normal slideshow would have done the trick. a good use i could imagine, would be a talkshow about a particular theme, where everybody around a table could show the others what he's talking about and any person would be able to give a direct feedback to his thoughts.
I really think such kind of presentation is gimmick more than practical. People are stunted by such presentation at first for sure but how long will it last. Multi-touch is always cool for portable devices because these machines require such input and manipulating method to save display space and hardware.
I mean... she was facing the camera and she didn't linger in front of it. It seems like the first time you use something like that you might be a bit awestruck and so would be momentarily stunned and forget that you're on international live prime time news and you have to get out of the way of the screen so other people can see it.
I want this!!!

wasted energy.i'm getting tired just watching it.a mouse or some other hand held pointer is much more
efficient.its a different story when you are doing this on a 3.5 inch iphone screen.nothing wrong with the technology, just the wrong app here.

MMMmm.. I believe is silly, she is "selling" the screen rather than the story. Childish.

right, and when they had to turn their back to the camera and use a mouse and keyboard, they were selling mice and keyboards?
dont reject something just because its new. you'll never progress.
