anyone here know about electronics and can tell me what causes the change of color on an individual color changing LED?
the most logical idea I thought of is that color is caused by different wave lengths, which is associated with frequency, so I thought the color emitted is somehow determined by the frequency of the voltage flowing in.
yet I have completely nothing to base this on, so I need to ask you because knowing this can really help me pre-plan a circuit that I want to build!!
@BlackSoulOfHeaven There are 2 types of LED's RGB LED and 1 color LED. RGB LED can have 1 2 or 3 or more Colors If you buy a TIP32C and run a speaker wire from a speaker to the TIP32C it will make the LED's dance to the beat of music Without blowing the LEDS look for internet forums on LED and lighting
@freakyflow I don't understand you... you mean the RGB LED is changing color by single toned presets, and the color isn't determined by some given factor right? I currently have LED's hooked up through a resistor straight to one of the speaker, they never show any sign of overheating or extreme glow that may indicate great voltage coming in.
why did you suggest adding the TIP32C? won't it smooth the changes in lightning?
@BlackSoulOfHeaven tip32 is good for low to high volts ..when you play ur LED's with the resistor does it flash right away at volume 1 , 2 ,3 or start at volume 3 and brighter at 4 at 5 and then stay non flashing at 6 7 and 8? .. the TIP32 makes it flash at 1 - 10 again looking into fourms on LED to get how toos and how LEDS work there is a part that will change the LED color by tone BASS= RED Treble = GREEN ETC The RGB is a LED that had 3 colors already in it
@freakyflow so bottom line my idea was right? it does change by frequency, but I know the tip 32 as a device that will be some sort of "shock absorber" to the sudden changes in volume no? you are right about the LED's starting to glow in about 30% volume only, yet they keep on "dancing" on the high volumes.
@BlackSoulOfHeaven I i just picked up 33 blue strip LED's and a 12V 1.2 amp power supply and finshed it after burning my dam hand on the solding iron lol
Ya from what im thinking Led's work like a speaker the more power into it the louder or brighter it gets ..More volume more power As for the dancing at high volumes Your lucky cause ..any more power they will not Dance just stay on ..More power they burn out
I'm going to hook mine up to the Tip and speaker wire soon and make a video

I went on it a little more "big time" I got the LED's separately and soldered them, and then I took an empty bottle of Finlandia vodka and put the LED's in it, after that I added shreds of glass to brake the light and make it look like the center is just glowing, it looks good, if you want to make it even better looking try getting a drill-bit for glass to pass the wires through the bottom.
@BlackSoulOfHeaven hey that sounds awsome ...maybe marbles too? .. I hear if you use mineral oil you can fill up a bottle and use that too ..its non conductive so its not going to short out
@freakyflow I thought about that, but I didn't know which oil would be good, also I was afraid of corrosion, yet now I understand it'll actually act as anti corrosion because corrosion is a result of evaporated water (even from the air) and metal, and as everyone knows oil and water reject each other, the oil would protect the metals.
also note, if you study physics you'd know that already, that the oil will enhance the light breaking effect because of the higher refractive index
is there any chance that you already know about a specific type of oil?
also note that glycerin has a refractive index which is very close the refractive index of glass, or in other words, if you fill glass with glycerin, it looks like a block of glass, if the LED's are inside of it, it should be interesting
