@toby099 You are exactly right and they were the two greatest bands in rock history so it just goes to show the respect that Elvis commanded among the absolute cream of the crop.
The end of an era labeled as a "comeback". By 1968 Elvis was out of style with what was becoming popular in music. Don't get me wrong, he was great for his time but by 68 that time was past, even he knew it. Look at what his musicians were wearing compared to the style at that time, they look like a 50's Las Vegas nightmare. Lucky for Elvis he looked good in leather and he still had some musical chops.
@jackson12324@jackson12324 Spare me. That is like saying Charlie Pride "stole" his music from whites or other nonsense.
We pride ourselves on seeing past the color of our skin to the person & talent underneath.......so how did he steal it? Elvis grew up singing that music. Why all of a sudden does the color of his skin matter? Without that voice there would have been nothing to talk about period. He didn't get THAT from anyone.
Man if Elvis was still alive wouldnt he of been Great as a late night talk show host? maybe not so great now cuz he would be 76 in a few days but imagine the rateings he would have gotten!! ELVIS would have also been the KING of Late Night telivision too!! If he wanted to be funny he was very funny... Long live the KING OF MUSIC!!
Scotty Moore, Elvis's inspirational guitarist, was asked to be part of the Las Vegas band but he refused in disgust when told what they were paying, it was an insult especially when he was earning 4 times as much in the studio. He was worth it and in view of their history together they should have paid him what he wanted especially because his playing was an intrigal part of the Elvis Presley Band's sound during the 1950s. The Colonel was responsible I hope.
when i think of elvis i think of this one, elvis around 1968, in the 50s he was just a kid, in the early and mid 60s he was doing movies which i dont care for much, and in the 70s he started decling, in the late 60s he was at his very best
The funny thing that he says in the end is that he said that he liked the beatles which in fact was that he hated them for stealing his thunder during the 60's when he was making movies. He was very jealous of them for stealing his crown during that time.
Love Elvis but taking the Super 400 from Scotty was a huge mistake. His awesome fills are noticably missing throughout the rest of the performance.

I like how at the end he jokeingly says "... I don't know what i'm talking about" but everything he is saying is so true.

Elvis was GREAT.....but unfortunately, he didn't write any of his songs...or compose any of his songs.
The Beatles, Michael Jackson...composed MUSIC.
Long live the KING ! : )

@rhythmmist that's because he composed with his musicians, together.
