You say that Jesus refused the superstitious belief of the Jews to refuse to pronounce the tetragrammaton. And you think Jesus although using the Septuagint (Where YHWH isn't written) spoke out YHWH as it should be spoken. If Jesus really did what you think he did, wouldn't the apostles respect Jesus in his habit of speaking and write down the name as he pronounced it? Isn't there another reason than 'superstition of the jews' for all this?
LET ME TELL YOU BUDDIES...the jehovah's witnesses is a fanatical cult. This is FACT from one who was brainwashed into their fanatical dogma from birth. They are a dangerous group. This cult destroys lives, families! The only difference between them and the taliban, are the guns and bombs. The jehovah's witnesses weapons are their brainwashing skills. The watchtower, bible and track society decides what dogma to teach and the people are brainwashed into believing the SHIT is the truth. EVIL
Have you ever considered that YHWH should be rendered Yahweh and maybe your not even passing on the sacred name of Elohim, El Shadday, El Elyon and numerous other names of God. I am not saying that Jehovah is a mistranslation because I have opened in prayer addressing Jehovah buy no human on earth knows if it is more proper to translate it Jehovah superior to Yahweh. I pray that you will honestly look at these points and have the Almighty in heaven direct your conclusion. Amen
@ejgress36 Yahweh is a Hebrew approximation. Yehowah is probably closer to the original Hebrew. But here's the deal - you and I are communicating in English. No one I know who speaks English uses Hebrew pronunciation for the common Hebrew names such as Jacob, Joseph, Judas, Joshua. Why the inconsistency? Why should we make a big deal out of God's name being pronounced in English according to the traditional way that all Hebrew is pronounced? Is it because deep down you hate God?
@ewatchmandotcom So I am confused on how you would come to the conclusion that deep down I hate God? I am sorry but why did you not answer any of my questions? I simply am wondering why your so sure that Jehovah is not an Hebew approximation as well. And replacing every one of Gods names with Jehovah which is God's personal name. God has many names in the Old Testament why does your society only render it Jehovah. Jesus Saves. AMen
@ejgress36 I did not say you hated God. I merely posed the question. From my experience those who do not use God's personal name or replace God with his son have a deep seated hatred of God. God has only one personal name - not many. You are merely repeating a lie someone told you. The name is used almost 7,000 times in Scripture. It was originally written as YHWH. As for its anglicized pronunciation I produced a video called YHWH Chalk Talk. If you are interested, watch it.
@ewatchmandotcom Ok I understand that and it makes sense from your point of view. You also need to realize that your repeating the Lies that Charles Taze Russell originated in the late 1800's. You are still not addressing my questions about your leaderships lack to translate Jehovah Gods other names. Does Jehovah God say to only address him by him Personal Name or does he command a relationship with his Son. Your Society is sidestepping key points to eternal life. Please consider this.
You do great vids. I was a lil suspicious about you at first, but you do teach bible truths... Keep it up.. Though I will still be a sheep to the slave class, with all respect said. Thumbs up....
Under his watch Jews are labeled Deicides for they killed the God Man matter of conscience becomes a matter of National Security. Envy and rapine are cloaked in piety. Personal and political enemies are labelled heretics and are hounded persecuted and assassinated. The Church triumphant and the Emperors become One. All to the Glory of God and the Blessed Trinity!
He realizes that the Old Religions are waning and are divided. He needs a universal/ecumenical theology to unify his Empire. He finds it in the Church but the Church is divided among those who believe that the Son is Homoosion with the Father and those who believe that he Homoioosion with the Father. He sides with Homoosion faction and the rest is history.
Once a proto-Orthodoxy begins to emerge Christianity is still far from uniformity so that Christian exegetes fromAntioch will battle Alexandrian exegetes. Roman exegetes will battle Eastern exegetes. Warring factions vying for control of the ascendant Church all reading Scripture through the lens of Plato. The Empire is also warring within. An ascendant monarch defeats his rivals and unifies the Western and Eastern provinces. He needs metaphysics to legitimize it. cont...
You begin to preach to the powerful Hellenistic-Roman elites and you begin to twist and modify your Christian message to please their entrenched Stoicism, Platonism, Mithraism, Orphism,Dionysianism, Eleusinianism etc... While at the same time drawing a line against the Gnostics and their Aeonoal anti-Yahwistic maltheism by calling and Identifying YHWH as Jesus Christ the best representation of the True Nameless God.
You efface the Hebrew roots of Christianity and you make it palatable to a Hellenistic mind and world view. You erase the unsavory Jewishness in the Name YHWH and you make Christ the Cosmic Pantokrator the Son Co-equal and Co-eternal with the nameless Father. Jesus the Demiurge Logos becomes Jesus The LORD GOD.
Once you conflate the identities of YHWH and Jesus you can then introduce Aristotelian concepts of "being" and "person" and say that God a "What" consists of three co-equal co-eternal persons "Who's". Father,Son, Holy Spirit all equally God. YHWH=Ego Eimi OT Jesus=Ego Eimi NT. YHWH=OT LORD Jesus=NT LORD. YHWH=GOD Jesus=GOD. Holy Spirit Parakletos GOD proceeds from Father and the Son. 3 Beings 1 Divine Nature.
1. There was a conscientious effort to remove the name of YHWH from the NT.
2. There was a conscientious effort to blur distinctions bet. The Lord God and the Lord Jesus. 3. Once that concerted blurring occurred and became reality, it was possible to call Jesus YHWH. 4. Once you call Jesus,YHWH, then one can read Joh.8:58 and identify Jesus Ego Eimi as being the Ego Eimi of Exo. 3:14.
I don´t mind that the NWT translators (someone still has to prove me that they where translators) inserted God’s name in the NT from passages quoted from the OT. It’s ok by me.
But...
Why didn’t they follow their own rule in Hebrews 1:10? When the Father appllied Psalms 102:25 to the Son? Why didn’t they put “Jehovah” instead of “Lord”? Well, because they’re biased, that’s why.
They deny Jesus. He who denies the Son denies the Father.
Prof. George Howard no friend of JW's in Biblical Archaeology Review 4.1 (March 1978),15. In his article "The Name of God in the NT" wrote "The removal of the Tetragrammaton(YHWH) from the NT and its replacement with the surrogates kyrios and theos blurred the original distinction bet. the Lord God and the Lord Christ, and in many passages made it impossible to tell which one was meant"
You accuse the Jews of being superstitious for not pronouncing his Name. Perhaps they where being humble and respectful, and trying not to desecrate his Name. Who are you to judge? I rather do what they did, instead of using His Name in vain as The JWs do. You speak of the NWT as if it was something so special for the fact of having the the Divine Name in the NT. Well, it is not the only one and is neither consistent as the WT wants us to believe (more on that later).
@edpanu1960 You don't know anything. All of the faithful men of old, from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, to the judges and faithful kings, and certainly all the prophets called upon the personal name of God and spoke in his name as well. The Devil is the one who seeks to hide God's name. Obviously there are many fools today who are more than willing to do the Devil's work.
@ewatchmandotcom Please tell me, why do you say that I don't know ANYTHIG? Look, my exchange of ideas with you is not meant to put you down or make you feel inferior. If that is how it came across them I am truly sorry to make you feel that way. I have first hand experience from interacting with JWs , studying with them, attending the Kindom Hall, and even going to the Ministry Field as an observer. I don't think you could technically call me an apostate because I was not baptized. (cont)
@edpanu1960 .Perhaps I should lower my tone and be more friendly. However I think you should do the same and stop saying that people like me know nothing about JWs (or calling my questions stupid), because as a matter of FACT many non JW people know much more about OFFICIAL WT doctrine than may JWs themselves. I have come to many conclusions about WT doctrine on my own.In other cases I learned from others. But there has always been verification of information, something that in all honesty (cont.
@edpanu1960 I do not believe happens in JWs circles, that is, independent scrutiny of everything that is taught. The only thing I've seen among JWs is just swallowing everything they are fed without questioning. And you know very well that ANY sign of questioning or disagreement concerning doctrine is swiftly dealt with. I was there around the time of 1975.Boy that was an eye opener (for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see)! I am curious, were you or are you a JW, or just a sympathizer?
@edpanu1960 Please forgive me, I have not mastered the use of You Tube, and writing long paragraphs seems hard to do. All my paragraphs look reversed in their order. Perhaps you can show me the trick.
An apostate is someone who "one who has abandoned one's religious faith, a political party, one's principles, or a cause." You don't have to be baptized to be an apostate.
@edpanu1960 No reason to hate on this guy, he knows what he's talking about. People should read the bible and aquire knowledge like this guy. Don't make excuses for your ignorance.
@gerardogovea How am I hating him? Just because I passionately disagree with him? Excuses for my ignorance? Did I ever said that he made stupid questions and that he knows NOTHING, like he and MANY JWs do when confronted? So when people's "buttons" are pushed to hard by being called ignorant and stupid, and they react, ...is that acting in a hateful manner? How is it that disagreeing with the WT is hateful but not the other way around?
there are lots ofm bibles with the name jehovah in the NT
There are new bibles coming out that have restored gods name jehovah in the NT as it was there to start with, i guess that below the vaticab are hundreds if hiiden papers that used the nane jehovah in the NT but false religion has hiidden itm try looking at the jewish new testament by stern, or better still get the hallelujah scriptures as this restored the name jehovah in the NT as i was there, in fact jesus said to satan JEHOVAH
"I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness (HHESED) and for thy truth: FOR THOU HAST MAGNIFIED THY WORD ABOVE ALL THY NAME" Psalm 138:2
The Word (Jesus/ Yeshua HaMashiahh, the HHESED/Mercy to Israel and the world of lost sinners) is magnified above All. That is the name given to men. The name above EVERY name. If you do not have that name and place that name above all then you do NOT have the father.
"Jehovah" was not in the original Septuagint nor the Hebrew Scrolls. Even if one improperly transliterates Yod-Hay-Uau-Hay as JHVH, pronouncing it as "Jehovah," it is pronounced "ye-ho-vah" (according to Strong's H3068). Strong's transliteration even renders the spelling as YEHOVAH. If one is to bash Jews and Greeks for removing the name, one must stay consistent and not allow the English language to corrupt it as well.
יְהוָה said unto my lord, Sit thou at my right hand
WHAT WOULD YOU PUT IN HERE XXXX IN Acts 2:34 in place of יְהוָה as it was there to start with, WOULD YOU REMOVE יְהוָה AND REPLACE IT WITH SOMETHING ELSE OR PUT יְהוָה
"For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: 'XXXX said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand
If יְהוָה was there to start with why then was it changed in acts 2v34
This man is a false teacher and a hateful one at that. You can not give him facts that prove him wrong for he'll just start calling you names like a little boy. RUN form this guy for he is teaching the doctrines of demons that contradict YHWH's Torah. I hope he changes, but he loves his teachings more than he loves Truth form YHWH's Word. Run as fast as you can from men like this one. Sunday worshippers and swine eaters are no different than this man.
יְהוָה said unto my lord, Sit thou at my right hand

1989 edition of Watchtower Society's "Reasoning from the Scriptures" p.64
"Of the Christian Greek Scriptures, there are some 5,000 in Greek. …Sir Frederic Kenyon wrote: ‘The first and most important conclusion derived from the examination of them… is the satisfactory one that they confirm the essential soundness of the existing texts. …There are no important omissions or additions of passages, and no variations which affect vital facts or doctrines.’"
Thanks for the info. I notice that ewatchman has not refuted the contradictory info coming out of his own religious organizations literature. His arguments for this and many other issues seem to be ad hoc at best and a gross misinterpretation of the facts and scriptures at worst.
@redeemednthankful That quote is taken out of context. In actuality, the NWT Reference edition has an appendix entry (1D) that explains that the YHWH had been removed and why the WTS translation committee restored the Divine name to its proper place in the Greek Scritptures
I agree with the basis of your argument, but it is impossible for the 4 letters to ever read or be accurately pronounced as "Jehovah", for there is no "J" in the Septuagint Greek. There was no letter J in the Hebrew, Greek or Latin. We may realize this when we say Hallelujah. Hallelujah is actually a 4000 year old word that means praise you Yah. His Name is YHWH, pronounced Yah-oo-ah. Shalom.
@natzrim SO why pronounce Jerusalem with a "J". Why pronounce Joseph, John, Joshua, Jacob and dozens of other Hebrew names with a "J." Why the inconsistency? Isn't that hypocritical?
@ewatchmandotcom It's really worse than hypocritical, it's blasphemy to change the Name of YHWH, see Rev. 13:1, 6 for the beastly plan. There's no "J" in any Hebrew name including the Messiah's and His Father's Name.
So, if it's hypocritical then why substitute the J in the Name of YHWH that clearly has no J ? Let's be consistant and correct instead of being ignorant and illogical hypocrites. Proclaim the true Name of YHWH as Messiah did, read Yochanon chapter 17, i.e., John for hypocrites.
@natzrim You do not seem to know what you are talking about. What you are advocating is that the English language itself be changed to conform to Hebrew. You quite likely do not realize that YHWH has hundreds of different spellings and pronunciations depending upon the language and dialect into which it is rendered.
@ewatchmandotcom Sir, you are mistaken about the letter J, for there was no J until about the mid 1600's C.E.. There was no "J" even in the 1611 KJV. Therefore it's an impossibility for Jehovah or Jesus, or Jerusalem, etc, etc,... as you pointed out. There is no J in YHWH either is there? No. Please study and prove what you believe by studying the etymology of YHWH. There's a great vid at "messengerofthename" on YouTube entitled "Ha Shem Revealed" please watch it and then get back to me. Thanks.
@natzrim I suspect you may be some sort of troll or perhaps not very smart. You seem not to realize that you are communicating in English. If you know the alphabet, the modern English Alphabet, there most certainly is a "J". It is saddening how many stupid people there are in the world, but I suppose it explains why the world is in the mess it is in.
@ewatchmandotcom Name calling? Ouch!!! How old are you? Let me ask you if we can translate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad into English then why can't we properly translate YHWH correctly? Guess what your proper name is where ever you go in this world? Proper Names do not change. Your name remains the same. Do you even understand translation or transliteration of proper names? You say satan, don't you? That's Hebrew. We say HalleluYAH, not HalleluJAH for a reason, guess why? Give us HalleluYah's meaning.
@natzrim More abject stupidity. Proper names obviously are changed. Perhaps you live in some sort of alternative universe somewhere, but here in the real world Hebrew proper names are all translated when used in other languages. Hence Jehohanan is John in English, Juan in Spanish, Johann in German, Ivan in Russian, etc.
@ewatchmandotcom You're wrong again. I know Mexicans that live here and guess what their names are in the U.S. compared to their names in Mexico? The same of course. Your ignorance and twisting of facts is tremendous to say the least. I'll beat you really believe your lies. 2 Thess. chapter 2 will tell you why. You're doing satans work by blaspheming Yahuah's (YHWH) Name, please read Rev. 13:1, and verse 6. I'm done trying to help you, your blood I am free from according to Ezk. chp. 33.
@ewatchmandotcom Yeah I'd hate to be stuck in your dimension where I couldn't tell the difference between a Y and a J. It's likely you'd argue that the words with a Y must be spelled with the completely incomparable letter, J. In your world a yankee is a jankee; you becomes jou, and why is spelled whj. The saddest thing is that you believe it. You don't hear joung jellow jankees jelling jodles do jou? LOL, now that's crazj funnj!!!!!
@ewatchmandotcom Honest reasoning means you need to give reasons that are valid from an acceptable source, in this case the Scriptures. All you've done is call me names and insult me. You don't answer questions very well either. Some scholar you are. I liked my little illustration where the J replaced the Y; it illustrated that it does make a difference when the J is substituted for the Y in words. The time to let Satan have you has come. I tired to help you but you can't be helped at all.
@judgerutherford Transliterated it says: "Ruach adonai YHWH al yahan mashach YHWH". Notice there is no letter J. The way to pronounce YHWH in the ancient Hebrew is Yah-oo-ah. It is a grammatic impossiblity to get Jehovah out of a Hebrew Name spelled yod hey waw hey, or YHWH, for there is no J or V letter or sound in the ancient Hebrew Name of YHWH. We shouldn't change YHWH's Name or His Word. Agreed?
Dear Judge, would you please translate the Greek mia ton sabbaton into English if you can?
Maybe God told Moses to write his name YHWH knowing that later will be removed by the scribes? This is absurd. God put his name in the scriptures so that was used.
Why isn't the name jehovah in the new testment ?? 11 “Also, I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world and I am coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are....John 17:11
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. ( Jesus ) Act 4:12
The bible is the inspired word of god. Watchtower is a teacher of satans lies.
The very fact that the Watchtower society does NOT call the New World Translation "The Holy Bible" is because of the copyright infringement of the Revised Standard Version (of 1885), [read: RIFE with textual criticism] which is a canned remake using the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. c.(1890) The fact that they despise the reverence of the Jews, and the KJV, and avoid discussions of Hebrew and Greek is patent proof that it is a cult. God is Jehovah IN the Person of Jesus Christ. Dare you.
@chrisandstaci You don't know what you are talking about. The name Jehovah is an English rendering of the Hebrew YHWH. And English did not exist in 2,000 years ago. YHWH, on the other hand, was known for thousands of years before Christ even came to earth. Around the 12th century, as modern English developed, the name Jehovah was introduced and was used in the first English translations of the Bible.
@ewatchmandotcom Yes, but it wasn't pronounced the way "Jehovah" is. "Jehovah" is simply not God's name; if you want to use the name the bible gives, figure out how the Hebrews would have pronounced YHWH and use that pronunciation. Otherwise you are using a made up name, not the one God gives Himself.
@Naiant Very stupid reasoning. We speak English. All Hebrew names are Anglicized. Why should it be necessary for Anglos to pronounce YHWH in Hebrew? You are obviously motivated by the same demonic spirit that motivated translators of the modern English Bibles to remove any approximation on YHWH into the vernacular. Wicked fool. Get off my channel!
If then religious tradition didn't allow and in fact prohibitied using YHWH to the effect that the religious leaders even erased YHWH from the bible, then why didn't they condemn Jesus even once for using or calling YHWH?
This is a good topic, since Gods name can be translated as Jesus, or well pronounced, though talking almighty god, it's Jehovah. If you have anymore to conclude to the name of god based on my comment, I'd be glad to take note of it :)
@TheRevenantStudios the meaning of Yeshua (Jesus) in Hebrew is "Jehovah is salvation." YHWH cannot be translated as Jesus. The actual pronunciation of YHWH was most likely Yahweh or Yehowah. for me, saying Jehovah instead of Yahweh is like saying Jesus instead of Yeshua.
I feel unmeasurably thankful for being raised as a Jehovah's witness, and being able to understand it compared to this system of thing's conception of the bible. Videos like this one, really makes me feel good about devotion to study the bible :)
Where is your Proof/ Evidence that "Jehovah" was "Taken Out"??? Where does your Proof/ Evidence come from??? Also where is the Proof/ Evidence of the "Superstitious of the Jews"???

Its amazing really that when they removed the name Jehovah they replaced it with LORD, they even say when you see the word LORD it means Jehovah, so when you read the NT and see the word LORD you know that the name Jehovah was there originally to start with.
AMAZING they say gods name was never in the NT and yet they are contradict themselves admitting that the word LORD in the OT and NT mean Jehovah. and they say gods name was never there
the name Jehovah WAS written in the NT in Archaic hebrew
Neither would non-superstitious Jews seeing how that pronunciation did not come about until the 15th century A.D. (or C.E. - whichever you prefer) based on a guess as to what vowels should be used.
Before the Solistice, PLEASE don't go back. YOU GOT A POINT BELIEVE ME YOU DO. But please don't go back I will explain later on a video I am going to put up. It's about to go down, and they are about to be destroyed. I beg of you brother, don't go back there. I will explain later give me two weeks and you'll know why.
@vudumojo Hello, and thank you. I produced a video called YHWH CHALK TALK that offers an answer to your question. Can't paste the link here but scroll down on the ewatchmandotcom channel page and you should see it.
@vudumojo Yes, read Robert's Chalk Talk, if you want to do it the hard way because maybe you think JW's have special powers to change people's minds, but that would be extreamly absurd, watch his Chalk video, and ask your mind what you think and come back to this video, if that won't change your mind because maybe YHWH can be pronounced as Jesus, then watch Robert's Did Jesus think it is was okay to rob God video, and ask yourself if it was better to listen to Jesus or god, than men
@rpierre777 So a Jewish tradition is what started the whole lost pronunciation of Gods name. The fact is that God Almighty would not let men keep his name from being declared in all the earth. Just like in Pharoahs days Exodus 9:16 and is the Apostles days Romans 9:17 Gods name was being declared in all the earth. Jesus did it - John 17:3, 6, 26; Hebrews 2:11,12 and it is being done today Isaiah 52:6; Isaiah 43:9,10. Hebrews 12:1.
@ladivadivala It wasn't just a Jewish tradition. God's name is Hebrew. That became a dead language (for the most part) before Jesus was born. That is why the Jews spoke Aramaic. This is also why they misunderstood what Jesus was saying when He cried, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" (Matt 27:46)The OT is written in both Hebrew and Aramaic. There are a few Latin words used, but not much.
@rpierre777 Yes, and no matter what Language was used the name of God would not and never will be wiped out by man, which is what many think is the case.
@rpierre777 How did you come to that conclusion when we are proclaiming Gods name Everywhere we are found? It is well known that Jewish tradition kept the common man from pronouncing Gods name, but that is not the case with Jehovahs' witnesses. We want everyone to know our Heavenly Father. Do you?
@ladivadivala Well, they are the only ones I've ever heard saying anything to that effect. It's just like in every person's case. I don't use my father's name when I talk to people (family, friends, or strangers). I haven't for 30+ years. Yet, his name hasn't been nor in danger of being "wiped" out. I will always know it. A child will always know the name of their father. Only those who aren't his "children" risk forgetting it. It's the same way with God. If you consider yourself His child...
@ladivadivala ...you will never forget His name. Only those who do not know Him will not know His name. Also, if they want to get to know Him, only Christ can help them truly know Him anyways-seeing how He is more than a name (amongst many). (Matt 11:27; Jn 8:19)
@ladivadivala But, really...how can you let everyone know the name of YHWH when the vowels used for pronunciation weren't added until @ 600AD, and Moses was given the name @ 1446BC? I want everyone to know Him, too. There is no salvation outside of Him. There is no happiness of life outside of Him. There is no experience of true happiness and joy outside of Him....
@rpierre777 That is true. And there is no life without doing his will. 1John 2:17. And what did God say at Isaiah 52:6? These are scriptural Truths no invented by any man. Gods people do know his name and what did Jesus say at Revelation 3:12? Gods people are called by his name. isaiah 43:7-10. This is a designation by God himself. Remember the exchange between God and Jesus at John 12:27-29? When God says he will do something he does it - Isaiah 46:9-11. Do you have faith?
Yehovah or "Jehohah" is a poor translation of the Tetragrammaton created by ignorant christian scholars who were unaware of the Qere perpetuum costume.
The name "Jehovah" came from mistakenly combining the YHWH's consonants with Adonai's vowels, The scholars did not know that the words were mixed together in the old texts.
@ewatchmandotcom Actually, anyone who has studied the scriptures know that the tetragrammaton is only 4 letters not 6. So, how did God's name go from 4 letters to 6?
@rpierre777 The Tetragrammaton is like an abbreviation. The four letters were simply a device used by the scribes to shorten the name. It wasn't just YHWH. Ancient Hebrew was written mostly with just the consonants, obviously because writing material was precious and they wanted to conserve space.
@ewatchmandotcom No, it wasn't used by the scribes to shorten it. There were no vowels in Hebrew. The vowel points were added to all the text around 600 AD. It had nothing to do with conserving space.
"obviously because writing material was precious and they wanted to conserve space." - in other words, you are making an assumption because you do not know.
@rpierre777 Because when the reader was reading he would add the vowels as there are no vowels in hebrew, so when reading HWHY Wwhich the reader would see as they read backwards from right to left, as we read from left to right it becomes YHWH Then the reader would add the vowels like this YaHWeH there are two vowels here a and e, which makes the word YAHWEH This is the nearest as nobody knows exactly what vowels were used, but jehovah understands this and accepts it because at least they use it
@judgerutherford Exactly! That's one of the issues I have with JW's. They condemn anyone for not using the variation "Jehovah" when even they admit that there is no way to be sure of how God's name is pronounced.
@judgerutherford I am confused by this posting. In what way would you feel I wouldn't like that? Why defend something you know nothing about?
On the JW website and in one of their WT's, it states, 'Some scholars, though, recommend the pronunciation “Yahweh.” Is that closer to the original pronunciation? No one can be certain." (Watchtower, Sept 1, 2008)
The appendix of "What Does The Bible Really Teach" says "no one today can say for sure exactly how people of Bible times pronounced YHWH."
The churches are guilty for more than not using gods name, what about all those it destroyed by burning them ALIVE and you say these churches are from god, no they are not they are from satan gods enemy, soon that old whore bablyion the great ALL false religion and the most guilty of all is christendom, this prostitute has killed more people through all the bloody holy wars
what a nasty harlot she really is
no wonder all of gods angelic angels cheer when she is destroyed forever
if you say god, lord and anything esle but dont use gods name how will anyone be able to call on jehovah, yahweh, yahveh or jahveh if nobody tells them, as long as its the god of the bible you are calling on, i recall asking a mormon who the LORD was who he would call on, of couse he said JESUS,This is incorrect, he said ok i will call on god,and if that dont work i will call on the angels, he knew god?, to call on jehovah you have to know who he is.
@judgerutherford JW's as a whole believe that if you don't use "Jehovah" then you don't really know God's name. It is why they focus on that when they ask people if they know God's name or not. Where in the bible is it wrong to call on Jesus? Stephen must have "fallen from grace" right before he died-seeing how he called on the Lord Jesus.
"They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD."
Were JW's ashamed when their prophecies failed? No.
@judgerutherford they weren't ashamed at all. They just tried to cover it up by changing the meaning of the dates and the prophecies. Therefore, YHWH will visit them on that day and they shall fall-unless they repent.
@judgerutherford So, do you disagree with the WTBTS and the Governing Body on the issue of the correct pronounciation of God's name? Are those two publications inaccurate?
@judgerutherford Also, one WT published in 1984 states: "Would it not, though, be better to use the form that might be closer to the original pronunciation? Not really, for that is not the custom with Bible names."
Do you agree or disagree with what the Watchtower says? I agree with that.
@judgerutherford No church refuses to use it. I use it and I learned it in church. That is the propaganda that JW's teach so as to make themselves seem "closer" to God than anyone else.
nobody condemns you or anyone, you view is a condemnation because it tells you that you are wrong but you fight it and the person who told you the facts,
jesus is not jehovah, does that bother you, if so then you say the bible is telling me im wrong and i dont want to be wrong so im condemned.
WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THIS
' I am the Elohim of Abraham, and the Elohim of Yitshaq, and the Elohim
of Ya'aqob'? יהוה is not the Elohim of the dead, but of the living.''
@judgerutherford You tell me one JW that doesn't "look down" on non-JW's for not using the name Jehovah? Exactly what have I been wrong with? You are quoting scriptures, yet have failed to point out one thing I said that was wrong.
In the WT, Mar 1, 2004, it eludes that the churches are false because they don't "honor God's name". How can they make such a statement when they admit THEY don't know exactly how God's name is pronounced?
as far as i know ive never known any JW's to look down on anyone after 40 years, seems you have a vandetta aganst the jws as a lot do as they tent to nitpick over trivial things like, you dont use aluminum saucepans and you dont use spoons, ive never seen any jw downgrade or as you say look down on,
maybe the name JEHOVAH bothers you, i recall asking a vicar when i seen the name in the bible, his reply THAT SHOULD BE THERE ITS AN ERROR" 7000 times its in the bible and its an error ha
@judgerutherford I don't have a vandetta against anyone. That's another propaganda of the JW's. "If people expose our lies and faults, they have an evil agenda. So, don't believe what they say." I don't nick-pick over "trivial" things. The name Jehovah doesn't bother me at all (you would know that if you actually paid attention to what I have said). The name of God in the bible is not considered and error. The variation "Jehovah" is considered an error.
Do you use gods name in worship and then say he is a trinity 1+1+1=1 God
if so using the name would not make your religion the truth because you cannot use gods name and then say he torments people in hell, or that he is a trinity asnd that he is jesus, it makes no difference if you teach the immortal soul and many other falsehoods, using the name jehovah would not save anyone if they teach lies about the person thay claim to worship
@judgerutherford "THE pope says dont say JEHOVAH" ~ What does he tell people to say?
If that's your basis for him being God's enemy, then you just proved me right in condemning him over which name he uses to refer to God. Remember when I said, "They condemn anyone for not using the variation "Jehovah"?
I'm not challenging anyone here by my comments either...thought I'd say that. I suppose I'm just thinking out loud. Sharing my sadness that although, the world is a beautiful place it's all also a hurtful place, and I personally regret that the world is in this state. A nd God forgive me a bit mad to be told that that's the way it has to be. =0(
@SuckaFreeSista1313 And what did Jesus tell us? John 8:32 but first read John 4:20-24. Please Read what Jesus is saying and ponder on it. Ask yourself who did Jesus say the "True" Worshippers would worship? Then read John 17:3, 6, 26 in more than one bible and you will see that Jesus would make Gods name known back then and still again. Please check out Hebrews 2:11,12 and ponder on it. Remember Exodus 9:16? Romans 9:17 then Isaiah 52:6. Gods name is the key to the truth Proverbs 30:4.
I keep asking myself why would God leave something like man's salvation at the hands of men? Especially knowing that man was going to do so much wrong. And if that's not enough we got to question everything because there are dark forces working against us. I have a alot of questions. =0(
I'm not disrespecting, just ranting a little bit, because this is the source of great frustration for me. At the end of the wrong choice hell is waiting!? I don't know and the fear of not knowing is uncomfortable.
reading over the comments here I can't help but to think this is what frustrates me: I mean; how is one to know the truth in this day and age when everyone is saying something different!!! Then you have man taking stuff out and putting stuff in...what's to say what's right because WE were not living when all these story accounts were actually happening.
@Catch22here Take a good look at verse 8... "He will guard his loyal ones". who is HE? Answer: Jehovah. Choose your loyaltys wisely. You have deep rooted Ideas and loyalty to who? If its not Jehovah then I urge you to pull those roots out as quickly as possible. Remember you cant have loyalty to Jesus and not to Jehovah for they are in Union, One with eachother. He is the way to life and the way to Jehovah.
@Catch22here Proverbs2:6For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; out of his mouth there are knowledge and discernment. 7 And for the upright ones he will treasure up practical wisdom; for those walking in integrity he is a shield, 8 by observing the paths of judgment, and he will guard the very way of his loyal ones. 9 In that case you will understand righteousness and judgment and uprightness, the entire course of what is good.
@Catch22here YAWN... Your last comment doesnt say anything but the bias opinion on the WBTS. Ive shown you more then enough for you to reason and understand but its obvouse your ideas are very deep rooted. The scriptures ive given you is more then enough evidence for you too see the importance of Gods name. Im not telling you how important it is to ME only what the bible says.
@Catch22here The biblical evidence should always outweigh MANS opinion so please keep your bias and feelings toward the WBTS out of it and just read the scriptures for what they are... Gods WORD. Among the ton of scriptures and reasonings that ive offered. if yahweh still isnt proven to be the correct translation then why substatute the already familiar english rendering of Gods name Jehovah with one that is less known and still a possible mistranslation?
@cloud144000 "then why substatute the already familiar english rendering of Gods name Jehovah with one that is less known and still a possible mistranslation?"
Yahweh WAS the preferred translation BEFORE Jehovah was used. It is the variant Jehovah that is the mistranslation. JW's teach that out of superstition, the Jews inserted vowel points so as not to pronounce God's name. Well, that's how the pronounciation Jehovah came about....
@cloud144000 ....So, they reject the premise of how the name they prefer for God came about. When the vowels of Elohim and Adonai were added, the variation Jehovah was birthed.
@Catch22here I recommend you read this in whatever bible you want then in the NWT so you can see the impact his name gives.(John 12:28)(Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21) John 17:26. (Matthew 6:9) (Ex 9:16; compare 1Ch 16:23, 24; Ps 113:3; Mal 1:11, 14) (Isa 64:2) Note that the name of God in the hebrew is used almost 7000 times which is also evidance that its not just some name but it has importance,
@cloud144000 Sorry to interject, but you're missing the point. Catch22here isn't saying that God's name is not important. He's saying that the variation "Jehovah" is not MORE IMPORTANTthan any of the other variations.
@Catch22here . the reason the WBTS gives the name such importance is due to the evidence that his name is IMPORTANT and not one that could be used but must be used. psalms 83:18That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.
@Catch22here haha ad hominem attacks... When did I attack your character or act out of prejudice or feelings? My comments are relevent to the topic. Ok so if your happy useing both then why do you stress your point that "jehovah" might be mistraslated? Jesus and many other biblical names like isaiah are also in the same catagory but we still use them
@Catch22here I wasnt trying to attack but display that you say one thing here but dont apply it with the name Jesus. DOUBLE STANDARD? It is in no way "less honorable" calling him God, heavenly father, creator, etc BUT the importance Jesuschrist himself put on the NAME OF GOD should be refected in us. Why? Because Jesus is OUR perfect example, one which we should follow. But then again you can go agaisnt Jesus/Gods own thoughts and think however you would like.
@Catch22here Do you use the name Jesus? If you do then you must realize that its not the name they orginaly called him by... Yahshua, Yahshuah, Yehoshua are all translations of the orginal name of Jesus and im sure there are more. The English name for Jesus is ALSO highly debated yet you still use it... Highly hypocritical on your part. Jesus himself stressed the importance of Gods name and for you to try and lessen it only proves your bias and lack of respect for Jesus.
Why did you make this video? Your reasoning is a photocopy of the WTS reasoning. Your points are exactly the way it was taught to you. You don't even notice the robotic words that reflect the hypnotic message of the WTS. If you want the real truth, research outside the WTS. Don't be afraid to search the truth for yourself. You have a mind, use it!
The WTS added the name to support their own doctrines. They believe we are too dumb to distinguish Lord Jehovah and Lord Jesus. Do more research and realize that Jehovah is not the proper pronunciation and the 4 letters (tetragrammaton) is not even in it's complete form (excluding the vowels). So how can it be restored if it is incomplete? Adding the name under the assumption of a removal is total DISHONESTY. This is not the truth but a LIE.
Actually how sure can you be that the name Jehovah was removed form the original greek if its not found in the original greek? You guys are just messing with people. Why should I trust in your word if the Watch Tower has proven several times to be false prophets? I dont know I dont buy your reasoning it doesnt sound right and doesnt feel right.
If you own a Bible that uses LORD to translate YHWH please open it to the publisher's Forward. Typically the King James or NIV explain that YHWH is the personal name of God but that they do not think that it is important. So, instead of using some derivation of YHWH they substitute LORD or God. But that is not by any means the proper translation of the Tetragrammaton. At least, though, they are honest enough to tell their readers that they have no regard for God's unique name.
These forwards are merely mimicking the original bible writers themselves as far as we know. The OLDEST available manuscripts, which are all we have to date, show that the writers themselves substituted OT YHWH citations with kurios. The Magdalene Ms is dated to circa 60 AD!
So until an even older manuscript which predates the Ms we have we are forced to accept them at face value OR conclude it is God's will they are as is....after all he is the one who preserved them for us.
@ewatchmandotcom Interestingly enough he's right about one thing.. it is a matter of BELIEF. One can choose to believe what Jesus Christ believes or believe what MAN does. The choice is everyones but Im chooseing to believe what Jesus did and not what SOME BIBLE TRANSLATORS DO.
It is not a matter of belief. It is a simple matter of literacy. The YHWH appears nearly 7,000 times in the Hebrew scriptures, more than any other name. God refers to himself by his personal name and takes great pride. Most Bibles have removed any trace of the Name of God and people use fallacious reasoning about proper pronunciation to continue to suppress the use of God's name. As I stated, Jehovah is the correct pronunciation for English, for the reasons stated previously.
Removing YHWH is no more or less a crime of honesty than the WT's insertions of it. My mother who is still a Brain dead JW, taught me that 2 wrongs don't make a right. Can you at least embrace that? She is after all your sister.
The only justification for YHWH in the NT are the 13th century J bibles as I have pointed out to you before.
So why doesn't the WT follow the J bible insertions that confuse the Arian viewpoint of Jehovists in those instances?
@ewatchmandotcom "people use fallacious reasoning about proper pronunciation to continue to suppress the use of God's name"
So, is that what the Watchtower was doing when they said, "a number of other translations continue the use of the form Jehovah because of people's familiarity with it for centuries."? (Divine Name That Will Endure Forever) Why only use a form that is accepted traditonally? As it is written, "They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." (Mk 7:7)

Is it because deep down you hate God?
ewatchmandotcom 1 month ago
@ewatchmandotcom So I am confused on how you would come to the conclusion that deep down I hate God? I am sorry but why did you not answer any of my questions? I simply am wondering why your so sure that Jehovah is not an Hebew approximation as well. And replacing every one of Gods names with Jehovah which is God's personal name. God has many names in the Old Testament why does your society only render it Jehovah. Jesus Saves. AMen
ejgress36 1 month ago
@ejgress36 I did not say you hated God. I merely posed the question. From my experience those who do not use God's personal name or replace God with his son have a deep seated hatred of God. God has only one personal name - not many. You are merely repeating a lie someone told you. The name is used almost 7,000 times in Scripture. It was originally written as YHWH. As for its anglicized pronunciation I produced a video called YHWH Chalk Talk. If you are interested, watch it.
ewatchmandotcom 1 month ago
@ewatchmandotcom Ok I understand that and it makes sense from your point of view. You also need to realize that your repeating the Lies that Charles Taze Russell originated in the late 1800's. You are still not addressing my questions about your leaderships lack to translate Jehovah Gods other names. Does Jehovah God say to only address him by him Personal Name or does he command a relationship with his Son. Your Society is sidestepping key points to eternal life. Please consider this.

@Szygyify NWT translation is biased. Period.

@redeemednthankful That quote is taken out of context. In actuality, the NWT Reference edition has an appendix entry (1D) that explains that the YHWH had been removed and why the WTS translation committee restored the Divine name to its proper place in the Greek Scritptures

FALSE RELIGION CHANGED IT TO ADONAI OR lord
The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek

so the accurate nt would not say adonai or lord but should read יְהוָה

I agree with the basis of your argument, but it is impossible for the 4 letters to ever read or be accurately pronounced as "Jehovah", for there is no "J" in the Septuagint Greek. There was no letter J in the Hebrew, Greek or Latin. We may realize this when we say Hallelujah. Hallelujah is actually a 4000 year old word that means praise you Yah. His Name is YHWH, pronounced Yah-oo-ah. Shalom.
natzrim 6 months ago
@natzrim SO why pronounce Jerusalem with a "J". Why pronounce Joseph, John, Joshua, Jacob and dozens of other Hebrew names with a "J." Why the inconsistency? Isn't that hypocritical?
ewatchmandotcom 6 months ago
@ewatchmandotcom It's really worse than hypocritical, it's blasphemy to change the Name of YHWH, see Rev. 13:1, 6 for the beastly plan. There's no "J" in any Hebrew name including the Messiah's and His Father's Name.
So, if it's hypocritical then why substitute the J in the Name of YHWH that clearly has no J ? Let's be consistant and correct instead of being ignorant and illogical hypocrites. Proclaim the true Name of YHWH as Messiah did, read Yochanon chapter 17, i.e., John for hypocrites.
natzrim 6 months ago
@natzrim You do not seem to know what you are talking about. What you are advocating is that the English language itself be changed to conform to Hebrew. You quite likely do not realize that YHWH has hundreds of different spellings and pronunciations depending upon the language and dialect into which it is rendered.
ewatchmandotcom 6 months ago
@ewatchmandotcom Sir, you are mistaken about the letter J, for there was no J until about the mid 1600's C.E.. There was no "J" even in the 1611 KJV. Therefore it's an impossibility for Jehovah or Jesus, or Jerusalem, etc, etc,... as you pointed out. There is no J in YHWH either is there? No. Please study and prove what you believe by studying the etymology of YHWH. @natzrim I suspect you may be some sort of troll or perhaps not very smart. You seem not to realize that you are communicating in English. If you know the alphabet, the modern English Alphabet, there most certainly is a "J". It is saddening how many stupid people there are in the world, but I suppose it explains why the world is in the mess it is in.
ewatchmandotcom 6 months ago
@ewatchmandotcom Name calling? Ouch!!! How old are you? Let me ask you if we can translate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad into English then why can't we properly translate YHWH correctly? Guess what your proper name is where ever you go in this world? Proper Names do not change. Your name remains the same. Do you even understand translation or transliteration of proper names? You say satan, don't you? That's Hebrew. We say HalleluYAH, not HalleluJAH for a reason, guess why? Give us HalleluYah's meaning.
natzrim 6 months ago

I'm done trying to help you, your blood I am free from according to Ezk. chp. 33.

@natzrim You are obviously luxuriating in an alternative reality. LOL
ewatchmandotcom 6 months ago
@ewatchmandotcom Yeah I'd hate to be stuck in your dimension where I couldn't tell the difference between a Y and a J. It's likely you'd argue that the words with a Y must be spelled with the completely incomparable letter, J. In your world a yankee is a jankee; you becomes jou, and why is spelled whj. The saddest thing is that you believe it. You don't hear joung jellow jankees jelling jodles do jou? LOL, now that's crazj funnj!!!!!
natzrim 6 months ago
@natzrim.You seem incapable honest reasoning. The word for that condition is "stupidity."
ewatchmandotcom 5 months ago
@ewatchmandotcom Honest reasoning means you need to give reasons that are valid from an acceptable source, in this case the Scriptures. All you've done is call me names and insult me. You don't answer questions very well either. Some scholar you are. I liked my little illustration where the J replaced the Y; it illustrated that it does make a difference when the J is substituted for the Y in words. The time to let Satan have you has come. I tired to help you but you can't be helped at all.

רוּחַ אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה עָלָי יַעַן מָשַׁח יְהוָה
WHAT DOES THAT SAY
judgerutherford 5 months ago

The very fact that the Watchtower society does NOT call the New World Translation "The Holy Bible" is because of the copyright infringement of the Revised Standard Version (of 1885), [read: RIFE with textual criticism] which is a canned remake using the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. c.(1890) The fact that they despise the reverence of the Jews, and the KJV, and avoid discussions of Hebrew and Greek is patent proof that it is a cult. God is Jehovah IN the Person of Jesus Christ. Dare you.

The only thing You are forgetting is that it was after Jesus died that the word Jehovah was brought out as the name of God
chrisandstaci 11 months ago
@chrisandstaci You don't know what you are talking about. The name Jehovah is an English rendering of the Hebrew YHWH. And English did not exist in 2,000 years ago. YHWH, on the other hand, was known for thousands of years before Christ even came to earth. Around the 12th century, as modern English developed, the name Jehovah was introduced and was used in the first English translations of the Bible.
ewatchmandotcom 11 months ago
@ewatchmandotcom Yes, but it wasn't pronounced the way "Jehovah" is. "Jehovah" is simply not God's name; if you want to use the name the bible gives, figure out how the Hebrews would have pronounced YHWH and use that pronunciation. Otherwise you are using a made up name, not the one God gives Himself.
Naiant 9 months ago
@Naiant Very stupid reasoning. We speak English. All Hebrew names are Anglicized. Why should it be necessary for Anglos to pronounce YHWH in Hebrew? You are obviously motivated by the same demonic spirit that motivated translators of the modern English Bibles to remove any approximation on YHWH into the vernacular. Wicked fool. Get off my channel!
ewatchmandotcom 9 months ago
If then religious tradition didn't allow and in fact prohibitied using YHWH to the effect that the religious leaders even erased YHWH from the bible, then why didn't they condemn Jesus even once for using or calling YHWH?

This is a good topic, since Gods name can be translated as Jesus, or well pronounced, though talking almighty god, it's Jehovah. If you have anymore to conclude to the name of god based on my comment, I'd be glad to take note of it :)
TheRevenantStudios 1 year ago
@TheRevenantStudios the meaning of Yeshua (Jesus) in Hebrew is "Jehovah is salvation." YHWH cannot be translated as Jesus. The actual pronunciation of YHWH was most likely Yahweh or Yehowah. for me, saying Jehovah instead of Yahweh is like saying Jesus instead of Yeshua.

judgerutherford 1 year ago
Its amazing really that when they removed the name Jehovah they replaced it with LORD, they even say when you see the word LORD it means Jehovah, so when you read the NT and see the word LORD you know that the name Jehovah was there originally to start with.
AMAZING they say gods name was never in the NT and yet they are contradict themselves admitting that the word LORD in the OT and NT mean Jehovah. and they say gods name was never there
the name Jehovah WAS written in the NT in Archaic hebrew
judgerutherford 1 year ago
The superstitious Jews would not say Jehovah But would would substitute the name Jehovah and say ADONAI instead which means LORD
WOULD JESUS CHANGE THE NAME JEHOVAH TO LORD? and go along with these superstitious Jews?
IF NOT THEN JESUS SAID JEHOVAH AND WAS ORIGINALLY IN THE New Testament UNTIL THE SCRIBES REMOVED IT ABOUT 300 AD
AND REPLACED IT WITH ADONAI OR LORD IN GREEK LIKE THIS κυρίου
THE NAME THEY REMOVED WAS
JEHOVAH יְהוָה

When Jesus stood up to read Luke 4v16-21 he would of read this in Hebrew

would Jesus say what he read or would he change names as he read it, would he say LORD if he seen the name יְהוָה JEHOVAH
superstitious Jews would not say Jehovah

@judgerutherford "superstitious Jews would not say Jehovah"
Neither would non-superstitious Jews seeing how that pronunciation did not come about until the 15th century A.D. (or C.E. - whichever you prefer) based on a guess as to what vowels should be used.

Robert, from one Bible believer to another even though you are a JW and I am not I have to say very good job on *this* topic.
Let me ask you this, how does that make YHWH/Tetragrammaton become "Jehovah"?
Where is the logic to that?

@vudumojo Hello, and thank you. I produced a video called YHWH CHALK TALK that offers an answer to your question. Can't paste the link here but scroll down on the ewatchmandotcom channel page and you should see it.
ewatchmandotcom 1 year ago
@vudumojo the logic is easy to see יְהוִה YHWH IS YAHWEH , This is the Jewish way of saying YHWH, the English word for Yahweh is Jehovah יְהוִה
simple very simple to undertand
judgerutherford 1 year ago
@vudumojo Yes, read Robert's Chalk Talk, if you want to do it the hard way because maybe you think JW's have special powers to change people's minds, but that would be extreamly absurd, watch his Chalk video, and ask your mind what you think and come back to this video, if that won't change your mind because maybe YHWH can be pronounced as Jesus, then watch Robert's Did Jesus think it is was okay to rob God video, and ask yourself if it was better to listen to Jesus or god, than men
TheRevenantStudios 1 year ago
Actually, the Greek word "Kurios" is used instead because there was no Greek equivalent of YHWH.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@rpierre777 So a Jewish tradition is what started the whole lost pronunciation of Gods name. The fact is that God Almighty would not let men keep his name from being declared in all the earth. Just like in Pharoahs days Exodus 9:16 and is the Apostles days Romans 9:17 Gods name was being declared in all the earth. Jesus did it - John 17:3, 6, 26; Hebrews 2:11,12 and it is being done today Isaiah 52:6; Isaiah 43:9,10. Hebrews 12:1.
ladivadivala 1 year ago
@ladivadivala It wasn't just a Jewish tradition. God's name is Hebrew. That became a dead language (for the most part) before Jesus was born. That is why the Jews spoke Aramaic. This is also why they misunderstood what Jesus was saying when He cried, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" (Matt 27:46)The OT is written in both Hebrew and Aramaic. There are a few Latin words used, but not much.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@rpierre777 Yes, and no matter what Language was used the name of God would not and never will be wiped out by man, which is what many think is the case.
ladivadivala 1 year ago
@ladivadivala Honestly, the only people I know of who thinks that the name of God could or ever would be wiped out are JW's.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@rpierre777 How did you come to that conclusion when we are proclaiming Gods name Everywhere we are found? It is well known that Jewish tradition kept the common man from pronouncing Gods name, but that is not the case with Jehovahs' witnesses. We want everyone to know our Heavenly Father. Do you?
ladivadivala 1 year ago
@ladivadivala Well, they are the only ones I've ever heard saying anything to that effect. It's just like in every person's case. I don't use my father's name when I talk to people (family, friends, or strangers). I haven't for 30+ years. Yet, his name hasn't been nor in danger of being "wiped" out. I will always know it. A child will always know the name of their father. Only those who aren't his "children" risk forgetting it. It's the same way with God. If you consider yourself His child...
rpierre777 1 year ago
@ladivadivala ...you will never forget His name. Only those who do not know Him will not know His name. Also, if they want to get to know Him, only Christ can help them truly know Him anyways-seeing how He is more than a name (amongst many). (Matt 11:27; Jn 8:19)
rpierre777 1 year ago
@ladivadivala But, really...how can you let everyone know the name of YHWH when the vowels used for pronunciation weren't added until @ 600AD, and Moses was given the name @ 1446BC? I want everyone to know Him, too. There is no salvation outside of Him. There is no happiness of life outside of Him. There is no experience of true happiness and joy outside of Him....
rpierre777 1 year ago
@rpierre777 That is true. And there is no life without doing his will. 1John 2:17. And what did God say at Isaiah 52:6? These are scriptural Truths no invented by any man. Gods people do know his name and what did Jesus say at Revelation 3:12? Gods people are called by his name. isaiah 43:7-10. This is a designation by God himself. Remember the exchange between God and Jesus at John 12:27-29? When God says he will do something he does it - Isaiah 46:9-11. Do you have faith?
ladivadivala 1 year ago
Yehovah or "Jehohah" is a poor translation of the Tetragrammaton created by ignorant christian scholars who were unaware of the Qere perpetuum costume.
The name "Jehovah" came from mistakenly combining the YHWH's consonants with Adonai's vowels, The scholars did not know that the words were mixed together in the old texts.
Obasiliasfilosofos 1 year ago 2
@Obasiliasfilosofos Nonsense. You are just spouting gibberish you picked up from some other source they didn't know what they were talking about.

So encyclopedia Britannica and New Advent don't know what their talking about Eh?! LOL!
Obasiliasfilosofos 1 year ago
@ewatchmandotcom Actually, anyone who has studied the scriptures know that the tetragrammaton is only 4 letters not 6. So, how did God's name go from 4 letters to 6?
rpierre777 1 year ago
@rpierre777 The Tetragrammaton is like an abbreviation. The four letters were simply a device used by the scribes to shorten the name. It wasn't just YHWH. Ancient Hebrew was written mostly with just the consonants, obviously because writing material was precious and they wanted to conserve space.
ewatchmandotcom 1 year ago
@ewatchmandotcom No, it wasn't used by the scribes to shorten it. There were no vowels in Hebrew. The vowel points were added to all the text around 600 AD. It had nothing to do with conserving space.
"obviously because writing material was precious and they wanted to conserve space." - in other words, you are making an assumption because you do not know.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@rpierre777 Because when the reader was reading he would add the vowels as there are no vowels in hebrew, so when reading HWHY Wwhich the reader would see as they read backwards from right to left, as we read from left to right it becomes YHWH Then the reader would add the vowels like this YaHWeH there are two vowels here a and e, which makes the word YAHWEH This is the nearest as nobody knows exactly what vowels were used, but jehovah understands this and accepts it because at least they use it
judgerutherford 1 year ago
@judgerutherford Exactly! That's one of the issues I have with JW's. They condemn anyone for not using the variation "Jehovah" when even they admit that there is no way to be sure of how God's name is pronounced.

@judgerutherford Historically speaking, JW's are guilty of a whole lot of sins they have committed in "God's name".

if you say god, lord and anything esle but dont use gods name how will anyone be able to call on jehovah, yahweh, yahveh or jahveh if nobody tells them, as long as its the god of the bible you are calling on, i recall asking a mormon who the LORD was who he would call on, of couse he said JESUS,This is incorrect, he said ok i will call on god,and if that dont work i will call on the angels, he knew god?, to call on jehovah you have to know who he is.
false religion says jesus is jehovah trinity
judgerutherford 1 year ago
@judgerutherford JW's as a whole believe that if you don't use "Jehovah" then you don't really know God's name. It is why they focus on that when they ask people if they know God's name or not. Where in the bible is it wrong to call on Jesus? Stephen must have "fallen from grace" right before he died-seeing how he called on the Lord Jesus.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@judgerutherford false religion teach prophecies that don't come true.
Jer 6:14-15
"They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD."
Were JW's ashamed when their prophecies failed? No.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@judgerutherford they weren't ashamed at all. They just tried to cover it up by changing the meaning of the dates and the prophecies. Therefore, YHWH will visit them on that day and they shall fall-unless they repent.

@judgerutherford "you cannot use gods name and then say he torments people in hell"

"using the name jehovah would not save anyone if they teach lies about the person thay claim to worship

Im not telling you how important it is to ME only what the bible says.
cloud144000 1 year ago
@Catch22here The biblical evidence should always outweigh MANS opinion so please keep your bias and feelings toward the WBTS out of it and just read the scriptures for what they are... Gods WORD. Among the ton of scriptures and reasonings that ive offered. if yahweh still isnt proven to be the correct translation then why substatute the already familiar english rendering of Gods name Jehovah with one that is less known and still a possible mistranslation?
cloud144000 1 year ago
@cloud144000 "then why substatute the already familiar english rendering of Gods name Jehovah with one that is less known and still a possible mistranslation?"
Yahweh WAS the preferred translation BEFORE Jehovah was used. It is the variant Jehovah that is the mistranslation. JW's teach that out of superstition, the Jews inserted vowel points so as not to pronounce God's name. Well, that's how the pronounciation Jehovah came about....
rpierre777 1 year ago
@cloud144000 ....So, they reject the premise of how the name they prefer for God came about. When the vowels of Elohim and Adonai were added, the variation Jehovah was birthed.

@Catch22here I recommend you read this in whatever bible you want then in the NWT so you can see the impact his name gives.(John 12:28)(Joel 2:32; Acts 2:21) John 17:26. (Matthew 6:9) (Ex 9:16; compare 1Ch 16:23, 24; Ps 113:3; Mal 1:11, 14) (Isa 64:2) Note that the name of God in the hebrew is used almost 7000 times which is also evidance that its not just some name but it has importance,
cloud144000 1 year ago
@cloud144000 Sorry to interject, but you're missing the point. Catch22here isn't saying that God's name is not important. He's saying that the variation "Jehovah" is not MORE IMPORTANTthan any of the other variations.
rpierre777 1 year ago
@Catch22here . the reason the WBTS gives the name such importance is due to the evidence that his name is IMPORTANT and not one that could be used but must be used. psalms 83:18That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.

@Catch22here haha ad hominem attacks... When did I attack your character or act out of prejudice or feelings? My comments are relevent to the topic. Ok so if your happy useing both then why do you stress your point that "jehovah" might be mistraslated? Jesus and many other biblical names like isaiah are also in the same catagory but we still use them
cloud144000 1 year ago
@Catch22here I wasnt trying to attack but display that you say one thing here but dont apply it with the name Jesus. DOUBLE STANDARD? It is in no way "less honorable" calling him God, heavenly father, creator, etc BUT the importance Jesuschrist himself put on the NAME OF GOD should be refected in us. Why? Because Jesus is OUR perfect example, one which we should follow. But then again you can go agaisnt Jesus/Gods own thoughts and think however you would like.
cloud144000 1 year ago

TheRealTruth1914 2 years ago
There is no proof period.
TheRealTruth1914 2 years ago

@ewatchmandotcom

The choice is everyones but Im chooseing to believe what Jesus did and not what SOME BIBLE TRANSLATORS DO.
cloud144000 1 year ago
It is not a matter of belief. It is a simple matter of literacy. The YHWH appears nearly 7,000 times in the Hebrew scriptures, more than any other name. God refers to himself by his personal name and takes great pride. Most Bibles have removed any trace of the Name of God and people use fallacious reasoning about proper pronunciation to continue to suppress the use of God's name. As I stated, Jehovah is the correct pronunciation for English, for the reasons stated previously.

@ewatchmandotcom
Frankgerretti 2 years ago
@ewatchmandotcom "people use fallacious reasoning about proper pronunciation to continue to suppress the use of God's name"
So, is that what the Watchtower was doing when they said, "a number of other translations continue the use of the form Jehovah because of people's familiarity with it for centuries."? (Divine Name That Will Endure Forever) Why only use a form that is accepted traditonally? As it is written, "They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." (Mk 7:7)
