  • You Man are great. You really have a knowledge. Yes Budějovický Budvar or Budweiser Budvar is really great beer, original, not like that funny american coloured lemonade.

  • Yeah you know you cheat sir...I taste it it is divine but even better in draft at U picasou downton prague

  • You don't use wine tasting methods to taste beer. Swirling and slurping are for wine!!! NOT BEER!!! HELP!!!

  • Czech beer is very good

  • czech beer are beest in the world

  • ironic: is distributed in USA by Anheuser-Busch

  • Being a czech and being a beer lover, I'll ad something...

Tapping. It makes half of the taste. You can't have REALLY good beer unless it is tapped AND by someone skilled, using the right equipment. While beer is usually worse when bottled, it can happen that if they tap it and do it wrong with bad equipment, it may be even worse.. So you gotta find a right pub with skilled barman.

It is not snobism. This is beer and not vine - it really makes huge difference in taste.

  • haa funny football. like that

  • fuck usa jelous fucking assholes its are czech beer not there

  • warning! In larger quantities causes horrible hangover

  • From UK this is probably the best beer I have ever had!

But unfortunately is very expensive here.

Have seen it on tap in a few places here.

    US Bud?

  • Beer aint wine,, we dont smell it, we dont talk about it,, WE DRINK IT! :D

  • You pronounced Ceske Budejovice really nicely :-)

  • České Budějovice ... kouzelná výslovnost :-) But, testing beer from bottle, it is not good ... come to CZE and get one "čepovaný" :-)

  • Budweiser Budvar 12 is the best! Its still national business. I like it, because its not so bitter as Pilsen.

  • too many teddies!!!! but you know beer. staropramen and steinlager are two of my favourite lagers

  • just have one the best of the beer!!2.20$ on sale!!!I DRINK THAT SINCE 1990 this is the best beer in the world@!!i lovit its on sell now in Canada ontario, but i drink that at my homeland in Jihlava and Brno too,i will never forget!!another good beer is Starobrno!!fucking good beer!!

  • I was born in Ceske Budejovice. Your pronunciation is even better than mine after a few Budvars :) Budweiser is the best beer on the world. The only one real Budweiser. Americans have no right to call their frothless piss Budweiser. This beer can be made only in Ceske Budejovice, because there are special 300 meters deep water wells called Arthesian wells. These were drilled in 1922 and contains highly pure and quality water. Using this water during production of the beer gets Budvar THAT TASTE

  • nice video...great work,czech beer is best

  • waht about polish and german beer.

  • haha Iam Czech ,..use to live in the States for a long time and once little bit drunkie from Budweiser ,I called them 1-800 ..and talking about ..they stolen name ,not original ,Adolfus Busch took the name.- Budejovice - in german Budweis- bier from the city is Budweiser....I was talking about that ,and the guy sent me a Bus girls posters :-)haha

well BUDVAR is my favourite, fresh on the t

and YOU --PRONOUNCE CESKE BUDEJOVICE - very good even with the local accent !!!

    i was loughing :-))

  • bud girls posters...

    used to live in Colorado

    very good beer.

  • this is a great beer but I prefer my guiness lol

  • guiness??horible.this is not beer.

  • Budwar makes very bad mornings for me :D

    But, good beer thought

  • thanks for this i´m showy on my country.

  • Very nice. Great video, amazing beer! Have you had the dark one?

  • One of my favorites along with Weihenstephaner. Paulaner Hef is good also, and much easier to find in the states than the aforementioned.

The bulk of US beer is Panther urine.

  • Is there anyway to get this in the US without importing?

  • I love this beer. Quite expensive, but worth it. Definately in my top 5 beers of choice 4 sure.

  • Just had one, nothing special. I know tones of much better beers. Beer is overrated in this review.

  • Budweiser and Pilsner are both great ones... if daring to compare with the us Budweiser then i definitely have a loser on my list... wont talk about trade mark issues....

  • I was talking about this one, Budweiser Budvar (Czechvar) from Czech Republic, and it really isn't worth of going for it.

  • no worries.. everyone has a different taste.. 1 against compared to so many in favour is not that bad...

  • I LOVE YOU MAN, but you don't taste nothing if you don't taste Krausened Budvar - much better version of Budweiser Budwar, much better than Pilsner. I know what I say, I'm very sophisticated beer-lover from Czech, land of beer, strictly speaking from Budweis (České Budějovice).

  • WAAAAAAAAAA!!! I can't get it here in BC, Canada. I will try to see if I can get any from the USA?!?! You are a very lucky guy!

  • @michaelyblam my mom loves australian wines have you done many of them ?

  • @michaelyblam I think that Budvar don't export ringed beer. It is sold only in Budweis and aroud.

  • @byWondra czechvar sounds so fuckin hilarious... effin americans thinks that they made budweiser first even though they were only indians in US in that time our beer was made...

  • @byWondra jsem rodilej budějičák, a nechápu jak někdo může říct že je lepší pivo než pilsner

  • @Malda123

Ty nemuzes bejt rodilej Budejcak, protoze bys pak nemohl napsat ten patvar s "i"

  • @byWondra Yeah,true - you must taste it ! Best beer ever ! Really ;-)

  • @byWondra Many beers aren't available here.

  • Great - I like them (Original Budvar and original Guiness) both a lot. Instead of swapping. Drink them both! Now I guess the Budejovicky budvar you mentioned is really the same as what I am tasting which is the original budweiser from Ceske Budjovice. Am I correct to say that?

  • i love budejovicky budvar mmmmm im irish and id swap a guinness for it any day and guess what lol IM DRINKIN IT NOW. if you have never tried this u are missing out lol.

  • Nice review, I'm drinking one right now,

    Cheers!

  • The original Budweiser Bier or Budweiser Bürgerbräu, was founded in 1785 in Budweis, Bohemia, which at the time was part of the Holy Roman Empire. The company began exporting to the US in 1871[2]. [3]. In the U.S., Anheuser-Busch started using the Budweiser brand in 1876 and registered it two years later.

  • Excellent piece of historical fact and comment. Thank you very much for contributing. Sip on! Na zdraví!

  • @michaelyblam You don't know how to taste beer, but nice pronunciation of Ceske Budejovice ;-) I suggest you to NOT roll the beer in your mouth while tasting otherwise you make in your mouth foam! That's no good. You're tasting it like wine - that's no good.

  • more preciously: Bohemia is older name for Czechia, which was main part of the Czech kingdom since the 12th century (and before that part of the Czech dukedom) called The Lands of the Czech Crown (shortly the Czech Kingdom)officialy and which was independent souvereignt state in opened something like confederation called Holy Roman Empire to 1806 and later part of the conglomerate called Habsburgs´ Monarchy since 1867 Austria-Hungaria

  • whereas austrian archdukes /since 1806 austrain emperors/ ruled in the Czech Kindom always as the Czech kings... up to 1918.

  • budvar is better

  • Budvar is better than what?

  • Nearly every beer in the world better than pilsner and all others...

  • So nearly all the beer in the world is better than pilsner style beer? Is that what you mean?

  • In Třeboň (25km from Budweis) is brewery from year 1379 (Bohemia Regent).

  • Actually the American lager was originally brewed as an imitation of the famous Czech original but over time has developed its own identity and attained remarkable commercial success.

also someone asked it comes in cans as they dont like the bottles, yes it does come in cans

  • What Czech original? Was AB able to predict the future in 1876 to know what Buvar was going to be like when it comes out in 1895, and that use that prediction to imitate at? Baffling!

  • Jj, Pilsner je nejlepsi :D

  • im from Czech.. i dont like budvar! but i know one thing: czech brewing trade tradition is much more older than anyone in US..

Drink Pilsner Urquell.. im from Pilsen:)

  • True - BUT, no country has more diversity in its styles of beer than the US. The UK comes second - no other country can touch the US and UK in the diversity of our stsyles of beer.

  • Those of you who think you're beer snobs because you drink this piss are a joke. Real beer snobs don't drink lagers.

  • are you serious?

  • Son, you're amateur about to get into the ring with a pro. Step off before you get murdered.

  • How can you say that beer snobs only drink ales? I don't understand how you came up with this ridiculous conclusion , and btw black and tans are not a type of beer.

  • Black and tan = porter or stout mixed with a lager. Everything fits in a neat box.

  • Anti-American beer.

    Anti-Ameican football.

    Are you a European?

  • I' NOT anti-American beer nor football. I am anti-anywhere junk beer. Many beers are simply FANTASTIC fm America! Yes! I MIUCH MUCH prefer rugby than American football (Somewhat boring with all the stoppages + commericals during the game) but I try to appreciate the 'positives' out of anything. I am sure the American footballers put in much 'blood and sweat' (trainings and efforts) and the games does have many tactics. I am currently drinking American beer...Rogue, Lost Coast, Green Flash...

  • ok,

    relax^^

    cheers

    I'm drinking Lübzer

  • Cheers to you and good health! BTW, I am not European but I do have triple citizenships - Hong Kong, Great Britain as well as Canada. Lived in both England and Scotland for 14 years and learnt how to appreciate beer and whisky/whiskey before I started wine!

  • I love this friggin beer...Bud makes me wanna skak it right outta my nose, but for some sick reason I kinda like Bud lite..sometimes..mainly after I've already had about 8 or 9 mixed drinks and/or way too many shots of jager...I like to keep my fridge stocked with Czechvar, Pilsner Urquell, Harpoon IPA, an assortment of flavored vodkas, and for those wicked hot summer nights, Pacifico..cuz Corona is just Mexican Pabst..yuck!

  • I wish it was more widely distributed here in the US. American Budweiser should not be even called beer.

  • The truth is that the vast majority of popular beers don't even deserve to be called beer. You know what the #1 ingredient in brewing American budweiser is? Rice! Wow that doesn't sound like beer to me. It's all just watery, flavourless crap which has been marketted to the point where so many people don't even know there are alternatives.

  • American Budweiser-1876.Budweiser Budvar-1895 -> TRUE but Ceske Budejovice in German is Budweis is a city in the Czech Republic. It is the largest city in the South Bohemian Region and is the political and commercial capital of the region. The city was founded by Hirzo, a knight of King Ottokar II of Bohemia, and was granted its Municipal charter in 1265. The name Budweiser is 'stolen' from Budweis. The style of beer has been brewing there for centuries before the establishment of the brewery.

  • The American Budweiser DID have the name first.

    American Budweiser - 1876

    Budweiser Budvar - 1895

I know how you people are just DYING to take down those big evil corporations, but American Budweiser didn't steal ANYTHING.

  • Thank you for your comment. Let me clarify...first of all, I have ABSOLUTELY NO intention to take down any BIG COMPANIES. I take down BIG companies that brew rubbish and I also take down small / micro / cottage breweries that make rubbish too. Conversely, I welcome and praise any big companies that go about to make great drinks. Both Pilsner Urquell and Budweiser Budvar are gigantic companies. Hope you get my point. Now...

  • Here's my issue - I think people like this beer SOLELY because it's AB's most famous adversary.

Me? Back in 2002, I bought my first sixer of Czechvar - and, no surprise, it has that "green bottle" taste to it, which I'm not a fan of.

If they ever decide to go the route that Heineken did, and come out with cans or miniature kegs, I might revisit Czechvar.

  • There is no green bottle taste you dopey git, thats the taste of a real beer, go back to drinking the pee style of Budweiser and leave the real beer for those who can handle it.

  • u know shit about beer N00b hater

  • Kid, let me suggest something to you: if you want to appear smarter than the person that you're saying "knows shit," then you might want to state why you think that this is the case, and then offer the "true" information that corrects the information that you believe is "false."

Looking at your lack of good communication skills, I'd say that not only would you get murdered in a contest against me in beer knowledge, but you don't seem to be a very bright person in general.

  • Hahahaha what a brainiac...Read coments over again,to get it right....first 10 time is hard, but another then will tickle mind....whahaa

  • chill out, beer in České BUDĚJOVICE(Bohemian/Czech Budweis) has been made since the early medieval age, at the time when even any USA didn´t exist, just company Budvar(Bud) brewery company was founded later than US producer of mosquito´s swipes but that´s all, US producer of mosquito´s swipes just stole the geographical name

  • because some Germans from the Czechlands ärrived in USA and started to produce Czech style beer and called that after České Budějovice town (Tschechische Budweis). For sure the US producer of mosquito´s swipes is in an US České Budějovice town, for sure hahah(sarkasm)

  • Bohemian (Budweiser) Budvar-early medieval age

    American Budweiser-1876

Long time ago before they discovered America my friend:D

  • You dumb ass - Budweiser Budvar didn't exist until 1895. If you don't know shit about it, that's on you. Quit being a fucking tool and think for yourself

  • you and the guy in the video knows nothing about beer...that shit about honey and hops...I dont know who is more stupid...I cant understand that so many people can believe this...THE ONLY TRUE BUDVAR IS FROM CZECH REPUBLIC...medieval age...take a look in wikipedia or anywhere!!! Czechs and Germans are the only two nations that can cook beer...so shut up you little fag you know nothing about that..

  • You're right, the only true Budvar comes from Czech Repulic - because there's no beer anywhere else called "Budvar" you fucking moron!

Face it - the only thing that comes out of Czech Republic are pilsners. Out of Germany comes that, schwarzbiers, and bocks (and the varying types of bocks).

Here in America, we've got that - and all types of pale ales (American, IPA's, brown, etc), porters, black and tans, you name it). America is the only self-sufficient country when it comes to beer.

  • yep....100% right...as I said before...u know nothing:-) end of conversation...

  • Yeah, that's what I thought - you don't have shit to say - because you don't know enough to say anything.

You couldn't even address or discuss different styles of beer, or even dispute what I said.

Son, you're stepping into the ring with a champ. I suggest you get out before you get knocked out.

  • Son?:D

    Dont make me laugh please...

Ur like little kid...just sayin´ more and more ugly words..no arguments about beer...

    THE END

  • If it's the end, then why don't you shut the fuck up and get lost?

Let's see... I've mentioned EIGHT different styles of beer, and the countries that produce them - you only mentioned ONE - the only one that comes out of Czech Republic. I'm actually displaying some knowledge. You're not - all you're doing is stating that someone doesn't know something, without countering what they say with your own knowledge - because you have none to counter it it.

Son, you're in over your head.

  • black and tan is a mix of beer not a beer style. research BJCP guidelines. There are so many flaws in what you are saying. Australia beer culture is very much like the states as you put it actually the craft beer scene throughout the world is exactly how you put it. Germany are known for helles and rauchbier and all other sorts as well you just are too ignorant to know that.

  • Who gives a fuck about BJCP? It's only been around since the mid-80's; they're not the authority on beer.

And, you don't impress me by naming two more styles of beer from Germany. Hey, I can do it too: dunkel and altbier. Now I can call you "ignorant" too.

At the end of the day, Czechvar sucks - and the only reason people like it is because it's "rebellious" - and you know it.

  • And what you are saying pretty much means no matter what the grain or hops, if the yeast is a lager strain "beer snobs" dont drink it

  • You know something? I'll be the bigger man and retract PART of what I said - basic and adjunct lagers, and I'll include pilsner style, since they're not too far off.

Someone who's been drinking Coors their whole lives can drink a Czechvar easily. However, hand them a schwarzbier - or ANY ale, and watch them cower.

  • K well in that case i will agree with you completely, beer snobs dont drink fizzy yellow beer period.

  • Why is the sound so off sync in all of these? :S

But good reviews man. I've never tasted any sweetness in any beer though :P

  • 'not that funny football that they play over here" lol priceless! 5*

  • listen to this fag, flowery, biscuity honey. where the hell is he getting this shit? Plus the hops are not from bavaria(germany), they are from bohemia(czech).

  • You are right. I never knew I said Bavarian - my mistake. It should be Bohemian...but I am not a fag. Nose the beer closely, it's a floral, dry biscuit and a faint sweet honey.

  • yeah thats cool then.....

  • Budějovický Budvar. In germany It's Budweiser Budvar, Budweiser means Budejovicky. And I've never ever heard, that in USA there are some Budejovice town, but perhaps I'm wrong....

They stole the name of the beer and in these days, they are stealing culture and lives... Its "realy great" country... criminals....

  • I hate what American lagers i've tasted with all respect. I hate how that American company fucked over the true company and had the nerve to give it the slogan "King of beers" Grrrr

  • You've obviously only had AB/Miller/Coors products. You've obviously never tried Samuel Adams.

  • sam adams makes trash you dont know what you are talking about so stop speaking please

  • Sam Adams is the same mass market stuff which in no way resembles the originals of a particular style, terribly mediocre stuff.

  • i have nothing against american beer, it tastes good and refreshing but is pretty watery. this is da real beer. much more spicey...mhmmm

    btw....nice vid man

  • Sitting with a budvar in my hand right now. Hadn't drank it for a long time. I have to go against the majority opinion here.

A nice beer that's far from being the king of beers IMO. I prefer my beers to have a stronger taste and not be so smooth.

It was a well conducted review though!. It almost makes me wanna open up another beer but I better not :)

  • It´s Budweiser Budvar...His history was gone to the 13. century...for the first time I heard the Czechvar...in Czech rep.

we have only this kinds : Budweiser Budvar premium lager, Budweiser Budvar pale beer, Budweiser Budvar premium dark lager and Bud super strong...Czechvar is a export mark...

  • Czechvar = ORIGINAL Budvar but it's absolutely not the popular American Budweiser Budvar which is a commercial junk beer. In my opinion, the best larger / pilsner style beer is still brewed from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It's the quality well water, Saaz hop (also named Zatec in Czech), select Moravian malt, and original Budvar yeast that make the brew special. It's very hard to beat a quality brew like this!

  • holy crap it is impossible to watch this without craving a czech beer

btw budějovice is pronounced sort of like 'bood-ye-yo-vits-eh' with emphasis on the starting 'bod'

    good video mate 5/5

  • Thank you my drinking pal. Love this beer especially when I had it in the former Czechoslovakia long time ago drinking the fresh version. It was heavenly - very floral, balance, pure, clean, tasty and refreshing...

  • are Budvar and Czechvar the same? Kinda confused...once I get which of these two is the real deal, I will go to a specialty store or a world market and get it there I guess.

  • Czechvar is nothing!! We call it Budvar in the Czech rep. Budvar from the USA sucks

  • Budweiser Budvar and Czechvar are two names of the same product made in the same place. Can you imagine that there in America would be two budweiser brands? As well as I can't imagine that there would be another budweiser in the Czech Republic.

  • ah your czech is good considering some budvars were drunk before the video :p

  • you got it one hundred percent

  • Budvar is the best, it is the original, the hops are grown in the Bohemian region and are Zatec (in Czech), and made from extremely soft water in Ceske Budejovice.

  • Snobbishdave American budweiser should be called the King of Horse Piss. Czechvar is the real Budweiser.

  • There is indeed a sharp difference between the original and the sorrines that Americans like me are subjected to through ads etc. Coor's is even worse. :(

  • budvar is an amazing lager. it's one of my favourites and is becoming more popular here in the uk. there is also a dark budvar that is made with toasted hops and a wider variety of hops. it is very very dark and has full satisfying flavour but is incredibly refreshing and easy to drink. it's harder to get hold of but i recommend to any beer lover.

  • Thanks for the tips! I know and heard about the dark larger but sadly we do not get it here. Our liquor system is very much provincial government run so it can be tricky to get qualitry stuffs (we do get quality seasonal stuffs from time to time). I will see if I can get from Washinton State the dark version to taste.

  • if you can get hold of it i think you'll find it quite rewarding. good luck. well done on the vids too.

  • Would you say Stella Artois has positive skunyness? Both are GREAT BEERS! Budweiser SUCKS!

  • When are you going to review the Kings of Kings-Guinness? It's almost St Patty's day!

  • Guiness is my staple diet - it's my everyday rice. I will for sure give it a review.

  • Anheuser-Busch Inc. concerning the distribution of Czechvar beer has been proving productive

České Budějovice, 16th July 2007 -- B.B.N.P.'s commenced cooperation with the key player on the American market - the Anheuser-Busch Inc., took effect with considerable sales increase of pale lager, which is sold in the USA under the Czechvar trademark.

  • I was priviledged to drink this for the first time when I was given two bottles of Budvar to carry with me on a train ride from Karlovy Vary to Prague in October 1988. Great Beer!

Stay away from Budweiser-the drag queen of beers- unless you're looking for a forgettable experience.

  • I love Czechvar!! One of my favorite beer.

  • This guy represent the world´s best beer ever!!!

beer of all time!!! The "BUDWEISER BUDVAR"!!!

    Czech beers are numero uno

  • all ive ever had is the american beers such as budlight coors natural light... what would yall say on those? and hows the taste compared to all those names that ive never heard of?

  • In my humble opinion, both Bud Light, Coors Light , Miller Light are pure junk beer. They are completely tasteless fermented adjunts that have no characters nor personalities...life is too precious to drink inferior stuffs...

  • I can't help but agree. I generally classify BMC(Bud-Miller-Coors) as fizzy yellow water. I'll admit that I started out drinking that stuff, but trying out different microbrews got me started on exploring the huge world of fine beers.

  • I am very proud of you. Sipping Microbrews is a great start but do explore the different styles from all corners of the world. There are before dinner beer, after dinner beer, winter warmers, summer coolers, Spring blossoms, Fall comforters, morning beer, afternoon beer...Life is too precious...don't deny yourself drinking bad stuffs!

  • Save up about $35-40 and treat yourself to some good shit. Like this beer.

  • Was in Prague 4 years ago. Budvar is the best and is the real Budweiser. Poured with a head from tap, it was inexpensive, tasting, and extremely delicious. I can't believe they had a long court battle with American Budweiser for the name. The lawyers apparently produced 1000 page documents without resolution--go figure, right?!

  • Czech style Pilsner as well as larger are head and shoulder above all especially when you can have them fresh on draft. You are a lucky guy! Some beer you have to drink them fresh like a pint of Guiness/Murphy's/Beamish in Ireland but others have to be aged like an old barley wine from England...

  • I was in Prague 4 years ago, and I LOVE the Budweiser or Budvar. It was inexpensive, poured with a head, and extremely delicious. I can't believe they had a long court fight with the American Budweiser for the name--there is no contest!!! Budvar is the best!!!

  • Just been to Prague in the Czech republic where I Drank alot of good czech beer. Think my favorite one gotta be urquell. Very interesting videos by the way

  • I love them all...Urquell, Budvar, Gambrinus, Primator...Blonde, Brunette, Red hair, Black hair...beautiful beers are just beautiful beers...

  • Well done only one admit I wouldnt drink it in that glass with leg, thats for wine or belgium beer but herein czech we drink in glass [.5 L] But you pronounced the name of the town very good. Anyway my faveourtie brand is Krusovice.

  • Ah! I TOTALLY AGREE with you. I do NOT DRINK beer with wine glasses. I only TASTE beer with them. These Riedel glasses are ideal for tasting. Firstly, as a professional, I get them cheap/free so I don't care if I break them and I have about 60 of them; secondly, they are transparent, small and have a bulb shape that traps the aromas -> perfect for tasting. Otherwise who would drink beer with wine glasses!

  • I cant imagine how americans drink our beer:D

  • Budvar is my favourite Pilsener

I usually prefer English beer styles, my favourite beer there is Newcastle Brown Ale but beer from Britain is hard to find here in Germany

  • Budvar is #1 best beer ever.

  • #1 I am not sure but for sure one of the bests

  • Ceske Budejovice thats right :) but too sweet for me, i prefer beer from pilsen (pilsner urquel and GAMBRINUS)

  • I like all of them!!! It's like different flavours of ice cream. Sometimes I like plain Vanilla other times I like something a little different! Excellent beers they brew in Czech / Slovakia. Well done!

  • jestli piješ Géčko, tak ti moc teda nerozumím ... to je patok

  • I very good Beer.Chez makes good Beer.

  • this guy has a good taste thumbs up man i love czech rep. prague man!!

  • hey...im czech guy and i agree with you that budvar is good beer but in my opinion is little bit sweet...i prefer Gambrinus its from Pilsner bewery as well as Pilsner Urquell...Michael, try Gambrinus....but im affraid that in north america isnt possible to get it...maybe 12 degress but im affraid not

  • Budwar is the best.

Pilsner Urquell lost it's status since it is mass produced and owned by Miller of South Africa

  • I really like Velkopopoviki Kozel. The dark is very good.

  • Don't taste Gambrinus beer. Otherwise it is Czech beer but it's the same shit like Heineken or Bud. It shit beer from S.A.B. I'm from Czech Republic, trust me.

  • I think "wonderful" is right word !!! czech beers are the BEST !!!forever...miluju budvááár...

  • Ironically Michael, Budvar tastes hoppier and fresher from bottles than the tap. Maybe they hop it up so it stays tasty on the shelf longer or for export, but sadly that nice distinct fresh taste disappears in the pub here. It becomes quite an average tasting lager to be honest. The unfiltered version is hard to find but excellent however, as is Budvar Dark.

  • Well! I tasted both the Budvar and Pilsner Urquell on tap in Prague back in 1991 - sadly I cannot remember to compare between bottled version and tap version. Perhaps someone whould sponsor me to come along to Czech Rep. again! Love to try Budvar Dark for sure!

  • Budvar is great beer. It should be on tap at every bar.

  • chechvar is my favorite pilsner, so far.

  • I love Czech Budvar and I live in Czech Republic in České Budějovice :)

  • Can you taste Pilsner Urquell please? :-)

It's too very good Czech beer.

  • miluji te ceska republika

  • I love you too from Canada!

  • Czech Budvar is the best Beer.

  • Definitely one of my all time favourites for this style - a top quartile candidate indeed.

  • In Germany, the UK and of course in tchec you can still get under the name Budvar :)

  • Yes! I know as I used to drink the same beer in the UK called Budvar but NOT in North America. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Savvysymbiont...I wanted to write more but youtube restrict me to 500 characters. These glasses are far better to taste than most beer glasses/whisky tumblers. They have the right shape, the perfect volume, good price/quality ratio...

  • 1.The glasses I use are the Riedel Overture red wine glasses. I managed to secure 20+ glasses for $5 each; 2.Unlike inferior glasses, the rim of these glasses are smooth so they don't have a 'kick' thus the liquid flow directly into the mouth which is important in tasting; 3. The glasses have the perfect volume which I usually fill up to 1/4 of the glass; 4.The bulb shape of the glasses mean they trap the aromas so are suitable to nose beer/wine/whiskies.
