Before Van Halen Sammy put out some great rock and was always a great show. His years with VH were great too, but there's an honesty to his early solo work that gets lost in the commercial success he had with VH and after. Standing Hampton is his best album in my view and it stands up today.

Daryl Sconiers of the Angels, (the first player i ever heard of that had a "substance abuse" problem - imagine that, a person from Fontana using drugs!) Sean Rooks, NBA, Ruben Henderson NFL. Graduated with him in 76. Saw Sammy with Montrose twice and solo twice. Montrose was his pinnacle IMO. I.E.

Hagar at his best. All Night Long was the best live album I've heard. This isn't even the version from the Red Album, it's a remake he did for his greatest hits album "Rematch". He tried to make it sound more like the live one here.
