  • Before Van Halen Sammy put out some great rock and was always a great show. His years with VH were great too, but there's an honesty to his early solo work that gets lost in the commercial success he had with VH and after. Standing Hampton is his best album in my view and it stands up today.

  • sammy hagar 1000000000 times better than david lee roth. especialy at guitar!

  • @Metalmorphoziz Sammy > David :)

  • Florida Panthers we see red

  • @Karlmoles65 so true Sammy was made to be in his own band. R.I.P van halen

  • there is money being made here and you, me and the rest are being left out!!!!!!!

  • Arse-kicking rock!

  • Sammy 's career with Montrose and up through VOA was just killer. Van Halen ruined him.

  • Sammy - Fontana's number one son!!!

  • @alkimst13 Wow, Just looked it up and you're right! Travis Barker is bout the only other famous person from Fontana! (Not counting 3-4 minor league baseball players haha)

  • @qwertydorknut5 actually Greg Colbrunn was in MLB, Diamondbacks world series team and others (my mother was a teacher in Fontana and he was one of her students). Daryl Sconiers of the Angels, (the first player i ever heard of that had a "substance abuse" problem - imagine that, a person from Fontana using drugs!) Sean Rooks, NBA, Ruben Henderson NFL. Graduated with him in 76. Saw Sammy with Montrose twice and solo twice. Montrose was his pinnacle IMO. I.E.

  • Saw him in 1980 at Newcastle City Hall - great gig.

  • YESSSSSS!!!!!

  • Inspi(red)

  • I love listening to this song to get pumped up to go play hockey. ( And draw a little red from the other players)

  • i dont see how peopl dont like thisits amazing

  • From Sammy's second solo album. He's always been awesome, and you can hear why he's taken this song as definitive.

  • This song reminds me of early Rush.

  • @iVai777 Me too, this must have been just after Montrose disbanded. In fact, I thought that this was when Sammy was still with Montrose.

  • What Times Long Ago Rolled over in a creek upside down with water rushing in,and dome light on Sammy Hagar playing cassette tape palying this song. The Driver went to jail that day for DUI.

  • sammy kicks ass but i believe gary pihl played guitar on the original version of this song correct me if im wrong

  • @biglarry395 Dave Lewark played lead guitar as well on the original recording.

  • @IamAlly90 thanks for that tidbit

  • @biglarry395 You said correct you if you were wrong. You are welcome.

  • GINGER POWER!

  • "RED "SAMMYS AUTOBIOGRAPHY

  • @Malachy896 it is a real page turner.

  • i just absolutely looove the lyrics : "the spectrum made a shade i like.......give me technicolor light ......" ....... for some reason it feels like some lyrics from late 70s mike nesmith

this is really a rare case where lyrics are good, not just your normal dull lovey dovey shit

  • Why do people have to use the "F" word when they comment on things? So odd...I really like this video though thanks for making it. GIgi

  • he needs to play this @ Roos Field in washington....the turf is...............RED!

  • I have listened to this song several dozen times in the last 2 days

  • The Van Halen brothers and David Lee Roth apparently went to the Ritche Blackmore School of Etiquette.

Sammy, like Steve Morse, is a real, actual human being!

  • Best Color EVERRRR !!!!!

One of the HOTTEST MEN ALIVE !!! Phrroooaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :-D

  • Red's a mutha f^&^#$@)

  • not crazy bout most drum solos, but this one's sick.

  • Sammy Rocks the House since Montrose

  • sammy is one of the best

  • MAS ECHO

    red alert dial nine

  • to DiscoFunktikonikyte: I agree. Sammy isn't nearly a big enough ego-maniac for Van Halen. He's MUCH better off doing his own thing!

Don't get me wrong, I like Van Halen, but they are a buch of jerks.

  • @HardyHarz wy do you say that van halen are jerks..not that im critsizing or anything i m just wonderin

  • @The00negative I've always got that vibe from them (the Van Halen's and Roth). Mike's cool and Sammy's cool, but the other three are egocentric to say the least. Just watch some of the old interviews, you can tell that they were never going to get along with anyone.

  • Ice Cream! Ice Cream! My favorite snack!

Fom white vanilla to chocolate black!

I like ice cream more than crack!

    Yah! Yah! neer ner neer!

neeeeer neer neer ner neer neer neer!!!!! Yah! Ice cream!

... oh yea Van Halen did a song about ice cream before sammy so what's my point?

  • One big difference between Sammy and Dave is, Sammy was doing great before Eddie and the boyz, and will do just fucken great without em. Roth was what, a DJ in NY? Its just a matter of taste, really, but personally, I LIKE RED!!!

  • I remember listening to this on the radio, maybe thats why I wanted a red corvette, who knows, bad ass tune!!!!!!!!!

  • there is no substitute 4 RED!

  • Paint it RED mother fucking Sammy Hagar

    R U L Z E ........ yeah Sammy ....

  • this is it, for now...but when we get older, things change and something else is "IT"...lol...life hey? Go figure. I once was at a vancouver concert years ago, and high fived sammy, now ya gotta go to Cabo san Lucas to have a drink on him.

  • "red rocker"!!

  • nearly as good as bad motor scooter by montrose

  • i saw a video long time ago of red by Sammy Hagar...anybody know about that video?

  • Epic music + Rorschach video.

  • Ummmm no fucking way is WHY CAN'T THIS BE LOVE over AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK!

  • Yeah, Van Halen wrote way better music with roth then they did with hagar. the best song they wrote with hagar was runaround and right now.

  • i beg to differ. every thing with roth is all a bunch of flash and tricks. with sammy hagar, everything they wrote is perfect. well written, origional, and not full of annoying whammy bar junk. actual songs, not just noise.

  • as much as i prefer Sammy over David Lee Roth :o....no....Van Halen was much better with Roth.

  • This is what rock is all about. Anything else is bullshit.

  • this song is great, long live hagar

  • WMET Chicago played this all the time. That was a great radio station.

  • it his one of your best musics

  • Pee Pee Lee Pop. Who is that?

  • Excellent rockin song!

Takes me back to the 80's.

Makes me think of 98 KUPD back in the day With Dave Pratt.

  • I want to be just like you hotforjpn.

  • I cannot find the song PLAIN JANE on here any where. anybody have it???

  • Love ya Sammy!

  • Back in the very late 70s and early 80s I use to cruise a lot... had a ruby red '78 bronco with plate "RED RKR" (only 6 chars allowed then). I think you can guess who my favorite musician was then... lol ;).

  • Gimme red

  • youre not alone....................

  • RED ROCKER AT HIS BEST !!!!!

  • I wanna be like Sammy.

  • this song is just SAMMY early classic, love how the drum solo mark around the 3:00 minute mark, then his killer guitar coming in, great stuff!!

  • I liked Sammy alot more before VAN HAGAR!!!! I miss Bill Church,Gary Pihl,David Lauser and Jesse Harms as his bandmates. Especially the "ELECTRIC" CHURCH!!!!

  • I want Sammy Hagar...all night long.

  • I love this song. If that's not a Les Paul strumming at the beginning, dunno what is. Lol.

One of my faves from his post-Monstrose days. And those were good days...(even tho I was 8 at the time. Lol. Still loved it.)

  • I don't really care for this video it's too distorted. Its great to hear this song again. It sounds so clear. No high tech equipment just pure music. Sammy's Awesome.

  • He's pretty underated as a Guitar player.

  • @FAUSTIANDAWN Agreed. And I loved him as a solo artist but could never warm to the idea of Sammy being the lead singer for Van Halen. They made some great music, but it just never seemed right to me.

  • @FAUSTIANDAWN for good reason

  • @FAUSTIANDAWN And Bill Church on bass - THE ELECTRIC CHURCH!!!

  • @FAUSTIANDAWN he really is people only know for singin ut hesalso an amazing guitarist

  • At long last - the original Red album is now available on iTunes !! Every one should go out and download it to their

    iPods because it ROCKS !!!

  • I agree, the Red album is superb.

  • So was VOA...pity he joined VH really...

  • Hagar at his best. All Night Long was the best live album I've heard. This isn't even the version from the Red Album, it's a remake he did for his greatest hits album "Rematch". He tried to make it sound more like the live one here.

  • red and white AJAX

  • If someone has the version from the "All Night Long Live" album, please upload. That version tears the studio version apart!!!

  • not heard this since 78 wow....

  • Great song and my favorite from sammy Hagar. I liked the original better though, the 1 that was on the Red album back in 1977.

  • The Original!

that is where i first turned on to SH.

  • This is a great song and the RED album is probably my favorite of Sammy's...Good rockin..and a lot of good memories there!
