You've got it under control. You are a good pilot, no doubt. I am a good pilot too but I don't think I'd play this close to power lines in such wind. However, that's just me. Awesome control mate! Good stuff.
This just the levl of hang gliding i would like to try. It would enable me to exerience flight without having to go high. I probably would not have the guts to do high altitude flight but definitely small sand banks i would give a go.
@210482fmj It might look safe to anyone who knows nothing about hang gliding but this would be the WORST way to learn. That pilot is reasonably experienced and proficient - had he made any small error with his control he would have been snapped around by that strong wind with no time to respond.
Go learn at a proper hg school - once you've mastered the basics of flight control you'll find that altitude is your friend. It gives you room to recover from an error.
Hey You Tubers I see the popularity of this vid is accelerating.I think in many ways the other two in this group are even more extreme so check them out too!
Ok its about time I answered a few questions.I am the pilot in the film. How do I stay aloft? The rise from the sea bed to where I am is about 6 metres.Just enough to give a small amount of usable lift. The tiny dunes just give it enough to play around on.The most important aspect is the flying technique. It has taken me 35 years to get this confident on tiny dunes in strong wind.
@garizonaaz The power lines are out of reach both in distance and height from our flying zone. This is demonstrated by my spectacular crash in the last flight of the day.Another video in this batch.
@JohnMCom This probably does appear stupid especially from the camera angle and most pilots would not be comfortable with it.But I accept some pilots and non pilots will make that call.If it had been filmed from behind you would have not known and then what would you have said?
@d0nk3yb0i Maaaaate if you just think it is courage required then prepare to crash very quickly. It requires a whole different way of flying and it takes good training from an expert.Anyone else done this stuff?
@BUFFYSUPERHERO Now Buffy you are a person who sees it for what it is.It is a distillation of 35 years of dedication to this art form-and still I crash at the end!

i was once enthuisiastic about flying and trying this but i changed my mind.
210482fmj 3 months ago
@210482fmj Probably a good idea not to try this unless you have tons of micro soaring hours.

@reivanen I can put you in touch with a hang gliding school. But they won't teach you to fly dunes unless you ask them. Its so easy to crash!!

Those almost look like power lines just behind! ;)
