  • @tuxguys Hoagy was outstanding! Grtz, Aad

  • absolutely marvellous

  • The Great Hoagy Carmichael !!

  • I kept thinking that he sounded a lot like Dave Niehaus...great song.

  • Recorded 7 weeks before my birth! What an amazing composer & contributor to American culture! Thanks for posting this great rendition by Hoagy ! ! !

  • @chkjns if this is in your playlist then I want to subscribe

  • this is a great song that has been done but forgotten... The latest that I could find was done by Fast eddie erickson an outstanding job in the hoagy style for sure..

  • Hoagy first recorded the song with own hand-picked band [with a line-up including Bix Beiderbecke, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Bubber Miley, Eddie Lang & Joe Venuti and Gene Krupa] on May 21, 1930. It was more "swinging" than this version....and a jazz classic!

  • a woman sings this song as well anyone might know her name?? peggy lee?? Ella?

  • Mildred Bailey ( 1907(?) - 1951 ) did a definitive version of it in 1932. She recorded it a number of times after that. It became a signature song of hers. Mildred Bailey was for a time, married to jazz xylophonist/vibraphonist Red Norvo. She was also the sister of Al Rinker, one of Paul Whiteman's original Rhythm Boys, along with Bing Crosby.

  • Mildred Bailey..."the rockin` chair lady"

  • Ella Logan by any chance? She and Hoagy did a duet on Two Sleepy People.

  • Is that Stan Getz on tenor?

  • The altoist is Art Pepper.

  • A masterpiece by the master himself.

  • Sublime - thank you.
