But yeah, I can't take him seriously when he sings in other languages, German, I can, but not this or Japanese. I don't know why, I don't really know French, but it makes me smile. It's cute though?

A worthy attempt but lacks conviction of his German version. Bowie doesn't sound at home in French (despite his cover of Brel's Amsterdam). Wish he'd done it in Italian just for comic value. Beautiful heart-wrenching song in any language.

Its not about him, the meaning is in 3rd person. That is why it doesn't matter if it is in german or not. Better in french, the neighbor to germany.
