I think some people are missing the point. This is simply about the methods being used by DHS. This country was founded on the principle that these kinds of tactics are not to ever be used (look up the 4th amendment). Legal or "illegal" - everyone deserves the right to due process and humane detention conditions.
Plus, I think it's foolish to deport people who have set down roots in this country, are working hard in substandard conditions, and contributing to our economy through usage taxes and low cost labor. Over 95% of serial killers in Az have been white US citizens. The fact remains that criminals are criminals. Our laws already punish these people weather they are here legally or not. Arpaio ignores them.
Its time for real immigration reform that includes a humane border, path to citizenship and amnesty on the table.
Regardless of the Lou Dobbs propaganda, Amnesty was very successful last time. It helped America out of a depression and we are a nation of immigrants.

I'm typically pretty liberal and pro every human right possible...
but I gotta say, after being cheated out of several jobs because illegal immigrants were cheaper labor... I'm not opposed to DHS raids. I'm tired of paying taxes and giving up what rights I was born into for the sake of illegal immigrants. I'm all for people coming to this country legally, I'll even volunteer to sponsor a family when I can afford it someday... but in no way do I believe this is wrong.

if they are illegal then the employer can't hire them. duh. you can report them. they would have to be legal registered aliens (green card). in that case that puts them in line to become citizens and just like you don't expect someone to break down their door and cart them away. now illegal aliens expect that and also have no expectation of having any right to stop it. they break the law. Know the difference. so if you are sponsoring a family they would be LEGAL aliens!

I think some people are missing the point. This is simply about the methods being used by DHS. This country was founded on the principle that these kinds of tactics are not to ever be used (look up the 4th amendment). It has nothing to do with whether there are illegal immigrants involved or not...we are supposed to be a country of laws which applies to both the government and the governed.

yes but prisoners have a separate set of rules for their care. but breaking the law allows law enforcement (through proper channels, with proper evidence) to find and apprehend you. otherwise there would be chaos.

Legal or "illegal" - everyone deserves the right to due process and humane detention conditions.
Plus, I think it's foolish to deport people who have set down roots in this country, are working hard in substandard conditions, and contributing to our economy through usage taxes and low cost labor. Let's get them in the system, reform our quota numbers so they reflect our needs as a nation, and do enforcement in a sensible and humane way!

This isn't even completely true, actually the USA doesn't even have an official language. It's always been a cultural (and hence, linguistic) melting pot, ever since the day it was founded. So really, people can speak whatever the hell they want. Sure, it's a good idea for them to learn English, which is the most common language, simply out of courtesy for the rest of their new countrymen.

And California has always had mexicans, even before it was a state, as it was originally part of Mexico. In fact, I'd say that as a multi-cultural nation, we've been extremely successful, having gone an oppressed gathering of colonies to the dominant world power in less than 200 years.

The Spanish (European nation), explored the Southwest. Sir Frances Drake (England) explored California as well. The Russians explored northern Cal up to the Russian River where it received it's name. California is broke for several reasons, mainly government employees who never passed a math course. You can't expect a higher salary, pension, and benefit package than someone in the private sector. The private sector FUNDS the public sector. A state cannot provide every service to anyone who demands it. You can't retrieve enough tax from a minimum wage immigrant who works under the table.
