  • were are the pics

  • He means if the LED voltage tolerance is over 3 then your good, so if you have a 1.5V LED you need a resitor.

  • can anyone sell me a already made led glowing button and guide button controller

  • Are you sure it's over 3v, no resistor? Or is it under 3v, no resistor. Im 12 and understand everything, but im curious on the whole resistor thing.

    Please comment back asap, thanks!:)

  • @ImDawwGie a resistor is used so that the led handling only 1.5v is not blown out by the controller's 3v output.

  • Is there any specific type of wire you use or can you use any wire? and where can i get it from?:S

  • were is the picture of the exact solderpoints cuzz i need them... :)

  • what kind of led did u use? obviously not the standard xbox 0603 smd....let me know :)

  • Anyone who wants it to come on WHEN THE CONTROLLER DOES there is a video I can't find it but it's called how to wire LEDs to a controller or some shit it's real easy for cg and matrix controllers and you just need some transistor u can get 50 for like a buck on eBay and you can do the dome, abxy and any other LEDs to the one thing

  • What led do you need?

  • if the led is under 3 volts what resistor do i need? 22 ohm?

  • what if i have an LED said it has 12VDC with integrated resistor wat does that mean plz reply back

  • @huveywalker91 you probably shouldn't be messing with electronics like a 360 controller if you don't know. just saying.

  • easyest tutorial ever thanxz

  • The website is down. =[

  • what kind of wire do I need

  • Good idea with the led bulb mod!

  • will the led go off when the controller is off or do i have to take the battery out to make the led go off?

  • i want to make mine rumble activated.

i know now where positive and negative have to go.

but what when i need a resistor ???

where do i have toput it plz ????

btw i love this tutorial !!!!!

  • iv been looking all over and getting as much info as possible b4 i do this.. i bought 47 ohm resistors and all my led's are 5mm ..do i even need the resistors?

  • how would u get the led to turn on only when u are using the controller?

  • nice vid five stars

  • @adan117 i used a 5mm LED light for my guide button but i had to use a 6mm piece for the drill to cut the pieces in the guide button,

@pikkuauto you dont have to use a resistor if the LED is over 3 volts, 5mm LED for the guide button

  • how big is the led in the guide button

  • the leds that i am buying from ebay says 3.2~3.8 what does that mean and would i need a resistor

  • hey dude but what if you only want it to turn on.When you turn on you xbox controller

  • what resistor and led do you use?

  • Do you have to use a resistor with a 3.0 v- 3.6v led?

  • What if I only want it on when I turn on my controller

  • Holy shit theres a train in your garage - or at least i can fucking hear it?

  • will this drain batteries

  • @1999151 it will but add a resistor

  • @1999151 yes

  • only very very slightely

  • how do you make the led go on with a rechargeable battery pack as the power source?? please answer!

  • @XvEmoKittyvX you can do this many ways i suggest that u first learn about:

    resistors

    transisters

    OHMs

    Voltage

    then finally

    Soldering

    Ground & Positive/Negative

    Then ur set to go

and the battery pack is 2.4v, you need at least 3v to power the LED w/o dimness, if you dont use 2 1.5v batters (AA) then you will not have a bright light also if u have a wireless controller the lights will stay on even when you shut off the controller if you do not have i believe a 22k OHM resistor

  • so by always on you mean when you turn the controller on it will glow??

  • just rumble activate it

  • I got my led off an old ihome. It's a really intense brightness but when I hook it up to the 3v it doesn't light only when I get to about 9 v. If there is no solution to this, any ideas where I can find another one. I really don't want to buy it

  • @wolveshockey1993 LED's are like 20 cents a piece just go buy one.

  • good video. but how do solder it the negative battery coil? and i got a 5 v LED will that work or is it to much. it'd be great if you answer back thanks

  • 5v is probably too big. Use somthing between 3v-3.7v. You just tie the copper part of the wire to the coil.

  • ur a legend mate :D

  • What resistor do I need if I'm using a 3.1v LED?

  • i think you dont need one because its more than 3 volts 3:35

  • i dont think you need a resistor

  • 470 ohm

  • wow complecated

  • WHERES THE PIC

  • Where do I buy Smd 0603 LEDs???

    I can't find them anywhere.

Also, how much mcd do I need? HELP!!

  • thanks

  • sick dude

  • all these people taking apart there controllers voiding there warranties is a slap in the face

to microsoft because they know a plain white controller is boring

  • thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard

  • why?

  • Thanks for saying how to make it rumble activated! Finally, someone said how to...

  • cooooooool i did the same thing but i put LED's in the controller thru holes i drilled.....even my guide button is rumble activated

  • it looks like ur doin this in the back of a car

  • 20 g wire

When he says over 3v for the led he means 3.1v - 3.9v anything over that wont light up anything under will burn out

the best place to get this kind is radio shack they have like 10 leds in one pack with green, red, yellow, and orange its 2.99 plus tax

  • what gauge wire do u use

  • i did exactly what it said to make it runble activated. now i cant use my guide button at all and the LED doenst even show up

  • wat did i do wrong i have a LED 3.7v and a 47 ohm resistor. Where r the soldering points

  • Comment removed

  • remove the resistor

  • do u have like a diagram of the soldering points for it being always on.??

  • seriously i need one of those

  • Awesome video, alot better than some i've seen out there. Out of interest though, do you know if there's any way you can make it so that the LED is on all the time, but only when the controller is turned on?

  • thats what he means when its always on.

  • i don't think the LED is always on when the controller is off because there is no circuit, but not total sure, would like to know though

  • It is always on in his method

  • there are 4 prongs on in the middle of the controller they are the main power supply solder the positive wire to the far left prong and the wire / resistor to the far right prong , ignor the 2 prongs in the middle

  • Yes there are ways. I placed a red Led in my dome and found a way to only have it on when the controller was. It is hard to explain without image though. But there is one soldering point right next to a little piece of plastic on the right in that cluster he showed and another on the left. If you just take an Led and have the controller on and test random points you can find them easy

  • also when u put the posotive negative wires into the rumbles where do i put my rumble if the wires are soldered on?

  • sry i MISPELLED method

  • And by the way, you SHOULD care how you spell things, if you want to sound even remotely intelligent in terms of non verbal communication... just a thought.

  • @XboxModdingService You also just misspelled misspelled...

  • like a realy care how i spell things???? and i dont call myself a modder i just make this account because my freind wants 2 make a modding service and my metod works fine so i realy dont care what u think.

  • I'm not saying your method doesn't work. What you described was a way to change the ring of light, which is fine. But this video is about lighting the guide button, which is not related to changing the ring of light color. So stating that my method of doing this is hayardous to the controller is a ridiculous claim, because it is not in the least bit harmful if done correctly. So stop trying to put down my work without adequate knowledge to prove me wrong.

  • wow nice try its a whole lot easyer if u just sawder ur green leds off and replace them with the ones u want this method is jus a HUGE risk of messing up ur controller. but oh well

  • Wow nice try but solder doesn't have a W in it....

You an't make your dome light up by replacing the SMD's which control the ring of light. You can only change the ring of light color by doing that, obviously. This is showing how to light up your guide button. There is no risk, it's actually LESS risky thatn attempting an SMD swap.

And you call yourself modder... for shame.

  • What gauge wire did you use?

  • _so if i wanna keep it on all the time i have to use batterys? by that i meen i cant use the rechargable battery for xbox controller?

and if my led on back it sais 5v will it work and if it will will i need a resistor? plz help i need to know by 2morrow

  • where do i connect the wires to if i just want it to light up always

  • thnk

  • were do u get the wires and LEDs

  • Radio Shack.

The link he provided also sells them really cheap.

  • this video kicks ass nice and easy

  • Just a few ?, I do these mods all the time for the RF board on the console it self and the player leds on the controller, but I never done the guide button yet, now I'm used to useing 0603 surface mount LEDs, what size are you useing? and about the resistor, do i need one or tell me the watt of the led that will work without the ristor, thanks..

  • im sure hes using 3mm leds

  • thanks dude u have to show us how to do the axby buttons

  • Same proccess, ALOT more work... take all the buttons you wana do and times them by double. The Guide button for me is good enough till I can get a cheap used one to fuck around with.

  • wtf? im so lost T-T

  • what voltage led and resistor did you use!!!!!

  • Dude just get a 3 mm led light and you dont gotta worry about the resistor... You guys need to pay attention more geez...

  • hey where is your picture at?

  • I just solder straight to the motherboard instead of going to the battery coil.... is this less efficient?

  • how do you get positive and negative wire?

  • Any wire works as positive or negative. It depends where you hook it on the LED. (or whatever you're wiring it into)

  • link to forum doesnt work

  • do you still need a resistor if it is rumble activated???

if so does it go on the negative leg or the positive

  • always positive

  • uhh can you repost the link cuz it shows up as a Thread start.

  • what led brightness is that light and what is that led called?

i need some bright ones where can i get em and what are they called?

    thx

  • wat if you wanted to add more leds in the dome... like 3 or 4... how would you do that?

  • well if u wanna do that get like 3 1 volt leds and soulder all 3 of the +'s to the plus wire and the same for tyhe negs

  • ok i want to do the rumble ones and i want to lite up my x,b,y,a, and dome with them so any help on how i can solder all those wires to those little spots? haah and always i was told i didnt need a resistore for a 3mm?

  • ok so to put the wires in the pos and neg of batterie stuff there is 1 then 2 then 4 then 2 then 1 so u put in the far left and right but how do u put it on it????????

  • thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also my friend told me the same exact way but i wasnt sure he was right sooo....

and can i put the led positive wire to the power source and the negative to a on and off switch and the switch to another power source like the resistor in the middle or the battery thing? please respond

  • do you make the same for a,b,x and y?

  • yes

  • wheres the pics?

  • can u make one for abxy adn the others...becau eim etting a chrom led controller and have never soldered before...need to know how to soler them on

  • hey man for a wireless controller did you ever find out where to solder the positive and negative wires?

  • what is rumble activated?

  • I'm having some trouble with the wiring =/ I can't find a position that works well...

  • will a 5mm led work on this???

    or is it to big???

    will a need a resistor???

  • Nice, dude!

  • very good

  • Rumble

  • Thanks, I've been looking around now for a while on how to do that. Good Vid!
