  • remember when i saw this with my drama classm mel c was amazing, we all cried even all the boys,, i loved this musical so much i saw it twice

  • She is by far the BEST mrs johnstone ever. im not just saying that cos im a bloody big fan, im syaing it because its true, and im sure many people will agree with me<3

  • i went to see it this week, and it was Vivienne Carlyle that was in it, she was the best!

  • Petula Clark is the only one that can sing this song correctly and with pure emotion! I saw Petula and the Classify brothers in the best version of Blood Brothers ! No one can top Petulant, we all cried with Petula at the end of the show! An amazing performance!

  • i saw niki evans in may and she was so much better than Mel C is in this video. i've seen some videos where she sounds fantastic but i think she sounds terrible here. :/ sorry

  • confused by comments, she sounds flat to me, listen to steph lawrence or bernie nolan they were amazing, this isnt moving me at all

  • 31st October

    WILLY RUSSELL INTERVIEW

In the build up to his 'An Evening With Willy Russell at the Lowry, Willy Russell has given an interview to WHAT'S ON STAGE.COM in which he talks about BLOOD BROTHERS… The Movie, Liverpool and the capital of culture celebrations, his love of Slava’s Snow Show and his future plans, including his forthcoming date in Manchester.

  • Amazing !

  • I had to cry....I watched it Thursday in London!! I love Natasha Hamilton as Mrs. Johnstone but Mel C. is awesome aswell!!

    <3

  • The percussion at 2:57 is really annoying.

  • This bit reduced me to floods of tears :')

  • mel c cannot sing.

  • @ChrisHadland Are we listening to the same clip?

  • Absolutely love it! The synth drums are also awsome!

  • I LOVE MEL C! i met her last night when she performed in the liverpool philemonic! saw her in blood brothers too! =) x

  • I saw her, my third time seeing the show, and whilst she is an amazing actress and singer, I didn't like her as Mrs Johnston. Still appriciate her voice though. :)

  • I miss it. Hope she'll be back again somewhere in the future.

  • She was fantastic :)

  • i saw her in this role last November...she was fantastic x

  • yehp i went to se he in liverpool , shes well gud

  • Seen mel c last night in blood brothers she was amazing

  • saw her yesterday... was absolutely amazing!!

was worth the 3 hour bus trip and the 3 back home xD

    xx<3

  • she was absolutely fantastic!! her voice was perfect for this role!! BEST MUSICAL EVER!!!!

  • i played this role last fall and i just don't feel like she has enough emotion in her voice. i agree with a comment about her singing it like a pop song. it's a shame.

  • @folieadeux8381 I dissagree if you had seen her live you'd see the facial expressions comming thru very emotional

  • I saw the musical last night and listening to this makes me think she would be perfect for the movie - if there will be one.

  • This is the weakest performance I've heard of this song, or maybe it's just a poor recording????

  • @kazbaz1977 I was thinking the same seen the show 19 times never seen Mel C though - hopefully she is better than this live cos i got tickets to go see her in Liverpool on the uk tour lol

  • @RogerDeBris100 There seem to be a lot of positive comments about her, so prob a bad recording! Enjoy anyway!

  • @kazbaz1977 Yea she sings it like its a pop song! No real emotion, just going through the motions! I think Niki Evans version was the best as it has much more bemotion and reality in it!

  • @ade0001 That's a real pity. But, coming from her musical background, I'm not too surprised. She does have a good voice, just probably not best suited to musicals.

  • seen this play its great :D

  • Dont ya think you can hear the narrator more the mel c here? Also i find it weird that even tho shes liverpudlian too her singing accent sounds far less strong the linda nolan and barbra dickinson.

  • I don't like this version of mrs Johnstone I prefer - Linda Nolan. She can sing!!

  • Mel C is amazing as Mrs Johnstone....but she sounds even better when you actually watch the show! i met her at The Stage Door and she is the most lovely person in real life!

  • omg I cry again and I cried the time I saw it to the first play - she did it so well

  • she got voice of angel

  • I saw this at The Phoenix in April and oh my god. It was so heartbreaking, she sang so much better than this. I was crying. I also was sat next to the police officer that *spoiler* shoots him. 8D

  • @KadajSweetie yes it is good and the recording you were 'watching' on Youtube was illegally recorded - pity the plice office didnt arrest the offender - makes you a 3rd partyy offender too!

  • i remember when i went to see BB after we had to write a whole essay on it and read the script over LOL buy anyway the WHOLE cast stared at me like Dude we made a girl cry LOL this song is sooo emotional Live especially the acting with it XXX

  • I love Melanie C, she is amazing but I agree with @96declan Lyn Paul is amazing, best ever in my opinion

  • Saw Lyn Paul at liverpool empire and she was fantastic and Ive seen 4 diffrent mrs j,s and shew was the best even better than Mel c

  • @96declan I have to agree, she was amazing! I seen her at the empire! I cried my eyes out, most powerful person I've seen do it!

  • Hello, I've watched Blood Brother in London this March. It was amazing. No, more than that,,,,, I can't describe that feeling after the show....

Mel C., by the way, was terrific and I was really suprised how good she is as an actor.

Is the myth right that it will be make a movie about Blood Brothers? And Mel C. will be play the main feemale role in it?

    Greetings from Germany

  • With ref. to rewrooz & YuichiTiara, I suppose its all a matter of opinion - but 2 years ago (on a fansite for Willy Russell's musical) Lyn Paul was voted ''undisputed Mrs J of all time''. Also Bill Kenwright has invited Lyn back many many times to play the role in the official tour. So fans and Bill Kenwright feel she's the best!

  • this isnt a strong a vocal as many that have gone before mel c i should know i have now seen this play 15 times in various locations!!

  • Saw her in BB last night, she was amazing.

  • This performance is great, but I saw her last weekend and she is even better now!

  • Saw Vivienne Carlyle on tour, she was amazing, much better than this im afraid.

  • AMO

  • seen this wen i went on a school trip last thursday

    she was much better live

the boys in front of me were crying

  • She's not bad - but she's not a patch on Niki Evans.

  • Mel is OK but not a patch on Lyn Paul or Vivienne Carlyle in the role of Mrs Johnstone. To all of you who think that Mel C is geat - do yourself a favour and catch the current official Blood Brothers Tour with Lyn Paul (or Viv Carlyle) as Mrs Johnstone to see and hear how it should be performed. Absolutely Fantastic!!!

  • @briansurrey Lyn Paul was one of the worst Mrs J i have ever seen in my opinion and ive seen 7 others! though i not seen Mel C yet

  • @briansurrey sorry but i dont agree, i dont think Lyn was that strong in the role. I think Mel has a really strong voice and acted really well and i have seen the show many times. it seemed to me the whole cast has been motivated to raise the bar for the performances with someone so famous in the show. it was better then ive ever seen it when i went last night. I love how this show always seems fresh everytime i go. i hope the movie version does the show justice.

  • Nah.....sorry. Nice gal, but absolutely not a patch on Barbara Dickson's version. The music has been killed with synthesisers and awful harmonies. Listen to Dickson's version and you'll see why it was written for her.

  • She's amaaaaazing. Saw her a month ago. She's my inspiration.. except for the fact that I cant sing. :)

  • Saw her last night, she was amazing. Got a standing ovation. Her voice was so much better than this!

  • goosebumbels :S haha x

  • Saw her 2 times on 23 and 25 february! Amazing! Emotional!

  • @MelanieCTheBest1 hey, I also saw her on 23 february...it was incredible! I loved it! got goosbumps :)

  • Going to see Blood Brothers for a 2nd time on Wednesday. Can't wait to see Melanie C as Mrs Johnstone - i'm sure she is sensational!

  • saw her last night and she was spectacular

  • Saw her yesterday. Amazing.

  • I saw the UK tour and saw an understudy then too, but it doesnt matter, because she was awesome. The 'best' Mrs Johnstone is not in a name, but in who portrays the character best.

  • I'd love to be back in London to see her perform again. She's sensational. She's nominated twice!!

  • Saw her last night - her performance has improved since this early recording. Lot less technical, bit freer.

  • cant wait 2 see it on the 6th of march

    xxxxx

  • I hope youll have such a great time as me =). I saw the opening show and I was amazed,

  • wow was it as good as i think

  • I havent seen many musicals but of those I have seen this was the best. I have never had so many feelings coming out in a short time. Its all worth the money. =) I wished I could go again.

  • Iloveitiloveitiloveit! Saw it for the second time two days ago, mel c was amazing, I really wanna see it again !

  • can't wait to see it again next week yay

  • Melanie C is THE best and will always be THE best Mrs Johnston...love ya Mel xxxxxx

  • very good but i still say no-one compares to linda nolan sorry mel nowt against you

  • Mel C has to be the strongest contender

for the role in the film that Willy Russell and Alan Parker are apparently planning.

She would be as perfect as Madonna was

    in Parker's EVITA

  • oh, didn't know they were planning a film. that would be lovely!

  • @figmentstitute yeah, a film has been in the works for a while now - new script has been written for it. Russell wants it to be a big budget job, rather than a low-budget rush out. To be fair, it deserves it, and could pull in a decent audience. The musical is surviving perfectly well without it mind, which is always a good sign!

  • @chris276100 I agree.. a film would be amazing with her in it.

  • @chris276100 OMG a film?!

  • @chris276100 tell you what, I wouldn't mind seeing Madonna as Mrs Johnstone. I think she'd suit it.

  • @TheCherryBomber1 madonna has the voice but could she manage the accent

  • @chris276100 i have seen mel lyn paul niki evans maureen and linda nolan and would say lyn would be better for the film imo :)

  • @chris276100 apparently Catherine Zeta Jones is in the running for the movie. She would be pretty good too.

  • @chris276100 Madonna was a terrible Evita...

  • The voice of Melanie C is amazing, i love you Melanie you are the best

  • I totally agree, I never knew Mel C was that talented, what a voice!!

  • this song makes me cry everytime i hear it......Melanie is just superb xxxx

  • i saw the show last night it was really good i nearly cried

  • Saw this last night and it is AMAZING!!

Mel is actually a FANTASTIC singer and actor...very impressive and this song is just so heartbreaking :'(

  • I'm sure that Posh can pull off something like this too :)

  • LOL YOU FREAK.

  • no posh can't sing she said so herself

  • seeing is believing...

watch Raw Spice and judge it yourself :)

  • Id recommend it to anyone, Shes ace in the show!

  • I went to see this last Saturday and Melanie was fantastic ! I wasn't a huge fan of the Spice girls but I was very impressed with her awesome performance ! Must see show !

  • thanks for posting

  • love this song.....go mel !!!!!!!!! xxxxxx
