They had plenty of room! Some people seem to think fear of things is something to worry themselves with. Others have enough sense to know when they can do something and when they can't. It's the people who are afraid of everything that hold back the rest of us!
I would probably do that too........sorry not as stupid as trying to do it a train going full speed, the engine was coming in slowly and was planning on stopping!!! besides if it was me i would have made my kids wait because I would have been taking pictures lol
dude if you think this was crazy then you should go to india railway station and sit there for a day. there are kid as little as 4 crossing the rail way in from the train by them self and parents are ok with it
I have seen this happening plenty of times. Worst was a time when a conductor spotted a woman out of the rear of the train. She crossed the tracks, turned around and crossed again over and over. He tells it on the radio and the next train (me) was warned. I arrived 10 minutes later and she was still doing it! When seeing the train, she stopped in the middle of the track and just stood there looking at the train. I slowly entered the track next to her and she disappeared when I got out to talk.
Wow at all the idiots saying there was nothing wrong with kids running in front of a oncoming train! Have you ever got your foot hung in the flangeway (groove) in a RR crossing? A kids foot is just the right size to seize its self in that groove. Even at only ~6 mph, its possible that train wouldn't have stopped in time. You can't stop hundreds of tons of steel on steel on a dime (unless that dime is up to a mile away).
Wow...overexaggerate much? You put caps in the title, and even start the video with a rant about it, and this is it? Come on dude, they were far enough away from the train to make it across safely. The engineer didn't even bother blowing his whistle as a warning sign for them to move so it's really not that big of a deal at all.
@ebtmikado yes people can slip when falling on a track, but sadly the train could have stopped before then due to the fact its only doing like 5mph and isn't pulling 100 cars.
@ebtmikado And martians could come down from outer space, too. It was nothing more than crossing the street in a busy town. They got across in plenty of time. Stop with the hype already. This was a big ZERO.
Well it is overexaggerated but the parents still made a mistake crossing over the tracks with their children.
They wouldn't have got killed - the train probably would have stopped in time anyway at the speed it was going so I agree with you - but they should set a better example.
This is why so many people die in level crossings, they see a train coming but OH FUCK IT I will cross anyway.
excuse the lecture and yes I agree with you, just sayign it
@dcoursey82 Plus the engineer did initially blow for the two road crossings directly before this one, so the people knew it was coming, it was very visible to them, and why risk being killed just to get to teh side of the tracks with the platform to be the first ones on the train. It wouldn't take anymore than a minute for this train to cross. Also, the locomotive tender was no more 30 feet away from them by the time they were out of the way.
@dcoursey82 the engine was making a hell of a lot of noise already and it isnt exactly a model train and it was quite a close call. But if u think running right in front of a train with children in tow is a good way to behave/set an example to your children then do it yourself. Just don't say others are idiots for emphasizing not to do it.
@dcoursey82 Mate i have one thing to say.. trains can appear to be moving slow when they are not also notice how they had to run otherwise they would have got hit.. its people like you who make us train drivers get scared shitless
I have seen this at my (home) RR. (CSRR) It's just stupid, the ignorance people have, it scares me a little, seeing this, thinking that if they do that, what else would they do...
Do you have any idea the force of the train? You never know, you could get your foot caught between the rail and tar (If a little had warn away) So, respect trains, they are bigger then anything you drive, by the looks of things, that little Acura... well lets say use a comparison. Try a tractor-trailer, (80,000+ Lbs. Vs. a small cat.)
They were not to close but you should never cross the tracks when you here a train comming. What if your shoe lace gets caught in the track then your done for.
ugh i see that all the time. they do it at the strasburg railroad when the engine runs around the trains. good thing the conductors are there to guard the tracks. this is an example of lifesavor
If a train is going to cross the tracks you are, you're supposed to stay behind the tracks until it passes. If these idiots got hit the crew of engine 40 would not have been responsible.
Looks like a new breed of dumb-ass little Nazis is emerging from the fatherland again. How many times must you get your dumb asses kicked until you finally learn humility?
HEY mstrsam, it's not about us being babies. We are just taking standard railroad precautions, like not crossing tracks when the gates are down. The sad thing is, if you had a half a brain in your head you would know not to do such a stupid thing!!
I love how theyre probably trying to beat the train that theyre about to buy tickets for to ride lol. I work at a tourist rr, and i`ll see people go thru leaps and bounds to beat the train on foot, and then turn around with their kids and wave as we go by. Its like wtf???
it doesn't matter how much time is left. It's the law. If the gates are down, you're not supposed to cross. If you can see the train, you don't cross. No exceptions. Doing so would be breaking the law. If caught, that's several hundred dollars out of your pocket.
hmm, people clear the tracks.... then 10 seconds later the train gets there. yawn

In most species, the stupid individuals are kept out of the gene pool by large predators.
With most of ours endangered now, this role is now primarily filled by trains.
