I'm confused about my body fat percentage, I used an online body fat calculator and it said I had a body fat percentage of 18% i'm not sure if this is very accurate. I'm a 19 year old male, 6ft,170-175lbs and a waist of 34inches, do you think 18% BF is accurate for someone who has a 34inch waist? I would have imagined 15-16% to be my BF. No haters please, honest opinions. Thanks.
ok im a girl n i want 2abs only n my friend told me it going to look worng if a girl have abs :( but i see other girl with abs n nothing look wrong at all...should i try to get 2abs or shouldnt i ?
@ClarkyCbruhDontTrip Most people don't want bigger abs. They want to lose the flab. He is addressing what the goals of the majority are. He is not an idiot.
I heard that regular cardio sessions promote muscle loss and encourage fat storage and that it is better to combine short but regular High Intensity Interval training with resistant training and good nutritional habits
@al14di i hope you dont stretch before you workout or before any other exercise, first warm up your muscles, do the exercises and then stretch in the end, its when your body is warm. if you stretch up cold, you might get injured on your muscle tissues. for many people who dont know, muscle fibers are easier to extend at higher temperatures, such as any other materials, if you try to extend something thats its cold, it will brake. you get the idea but its just an advice, hope it helps ;)
Hey Steve I really enjoy your videos. I sent you a letter a few months ago. My name is Vishal Sharma and I have lost over 150 lbs, I have went through surgury to get rid of the loose skin and had even more skin removed through lazer. I still do not have abs. Will it ever be possible for me to have abs.
@BodyPerformanceTV steve what should you do to lose weight but don't want to buy a scale and having to look at it canstantly like being married to it, also I can count my calories for breakbeast and lunch but not lunch because my mom won't let me eat process foods where i can see how many calories it is without having to buy a food scale and be too crazy and attached to that my mom cooks and i think its always around 600 to 800 but don't know but what would you suggest i should do im 17 6 foot 2
@BodyPerformanceTV Hi Steve, is it essential to do cardio in order to achieve ripped abs? Can't you just create a calorie deficit and get abs from eating less and lifting heavy consistently? Any advice would be great.

@BodyPerformanceTV steve do you have to suck in your gut when doing crunches, also does breathing when doing crunches matter since its anerobic exercise please reply?
@elite2291 What is important is the calorie deficit and reducing your body fat. This can be done without cardio. However, with cardio you would get quicker results. I think Steve would agree with me.
I'm 16 years old, about 6 ft 1" in height. How long as a cardio workout should i do? How many calories should i intake. And how many sit ups a day should i do. Right starting tomorrow i'm planning on doing:
@ExoticKiller2 I think 1 hour of cardio is a little too much. I would do your sit ups and then 30 min hard interval training. My personal view on this whole six-packs issue is that having six-packs isnt as important as having a good neck, shoulders, chest and also important legs. not every girl will lift up your shirt and see if you have a six pack, but EVERY girl u talk to will see your neck, chest, legs and etc. U know wattam sayin?
Ya I understand u about the girl thing. Honestly i'm not trying to be a body builder. I'm just trying to lose weight (i'm a little over. Not fat but ya know) and build muscle at home. So the only things i can do is push ups (for arms and the kind for chest) and sit-ups/crunches. And what kind of "hard training" would u mean. Right now i'm trying my little bro's xbox kinect. It's a track running game and wow, its a workout. Its A LOT more fun then treadmill and its more exercise.
@ExoticKiller2 Dude, I'm not talkin about like bodybuilding type huge muscles. Doesn't really whether its about losing fat, gaining muscle or whatever - what it really comes down to is having a good proportionate body. some people do look good with some fat and some people look unhealthy with very little fat. I see bunch of guys in the gym with HUGE chest and arms but two sticks for legs and it looks horrible. I dont have enough space to explain what "interval training" is, just google it.
@rootiest I workout with weights, and i do cardio. Compared to where i started, I made great strength gains. I'm not the biggest, strongest guy in the gym, and i don't care to be. What appeals to me is the shape and fitness of professional soccer players. They typically have defined abs, very low bodyfat, and very powerful legs. For me, I want an upper body that compliments the legs, but the point being, they run alot, and they have great fitness.
what type of diet do i need and what type of drink should i drink cause most of my lunch time i drink coke in stuff can i drink nest tea or something or do i have to cut down all sugar btw can you tell me what type of food i should be eating and drink i should be drinking thx man and good advice i thought ab come from sit up or something like that.
I have a very healthy diet and do cardio cycling at least 4 times a week. I have lost weight and feel good about it, (I'm 158 height and 111 lbs) but I still can't get rid of my tummy :( Should I start doing sit ups and that kind of exercises to burn that fat? or should I loose more weight?
@beaktoria Increase Your cardio, and watch you calories intake vs calories burn, as You create a deficit You'll start burning that extra fat around your waist, I usually run 3 or 4 times a week for 30minutes, I burn an average of 500 calories, do abs 3 times a week (plank) and work out, I have about 2000 calorie diet, but I burn about 2500 to 3000 calories a day. hope it help
@beaktoria Sit ups are great for firming and toning your stomach and you should definitely do them. But they will not burn fat. Fat losss come from creating a calorie deficit by either eating less or doing for cardio like walking or jogging.
@beaktoria The reason you cant lose that last bit of fat, is because your body is in survival mode. Your body is simply not getting enough sugar, water and oils (fat and vegetable oils), and therfor its storing it around your waste for times when it might need it (starvation). We're talking about small amounts ofcours. You can get fat/vegetable oils from lots of sources, most commonly in all kinds of nuts. Drink 1-2 liters of water every day, depending on how much youre doing. Its easy.
now i know that the burn feeling is cause from the production of the by product lactic acid. now higher lactate threshold you have, the more your body relies on fat and sugar to burn for fuel, so does that not mean that the later you feel that burn feeling (anaerobic exercise) the more fat you burn ?
@mhd86 sort of man. im not an expert but ive seen a man whos lactic acid doesnt raise over the normal amount youd have just sitting on your coach. and he is in unbelievable shape. your muscles take the fat for energy and burn it straight to more muscle. im not saying youll go from morbidly obese to jacked in a week. but ya
In the last year I lost 30 pounds. I am a 28 mother of 2. I was 160 and now I am 130. This was a big accomplishment, now I am strength training but still can not get rid of my tummy, I know everyone will say lower my body fat percentage, it is 23 percent, do I have to look anorexic just to be rid of the belly? HELP.
i noticed after a few months of training my abs they were ever so slightly larger and after a xmas period where i packed on a bit of weight i kept the 6 pack
Thank you for all the videos, they are a great help.
I recently read somewhere that as almonds contain estrogen they can contribute toward Gynecomastia (man boobs), are you able to shed any light on this?
Also, is it really true that someone can achieve a six pack? Can genetics prevent them or can damned hard work and dedication get you there?

love your videos girl! but in this video you defintely need to be more specific on cardio exercises..for example, i am working on abs right now and i use treadmill...how long should i be on the treadmill? how fast should i be jogging on treadmill? should i sprint on treadmill or just jog? and i am taking protein shake for upper muscular building ..will this protein work against me trying to lose fat on my stomach?

@boywunder343 I did answer part of your question. I receive 100's a day. Any type of cardio will cause weight loss. Walking, jogging, eliptical, biking, etc. Walking and jogging would be best.
@boywunder343 The type of cardio doesn't matter. The only reason to do cardio to see abs is because it is an effective way to burn calories. You have to watch your diet too. Just create a calorie deficit and keep it up. This will cause you to drop body fat and eventually you'll start to see your abs.
@spy153 It depends. If you lose a lot of weight really fast, you'll likely get loose skin. As you get older your skin loses elasticity. You can only get rid of that with surgery.
@WhereNoFanHasGoneB4 Anything you can do for long periods of time (15 minutes to over an hour) that raises your heart rate over 55% of your maximum heart rate. The higher the better, of course, but you have to keep it up for a period of time. Like Like Steve said, the most common are walking, jogging, etc. You can also hop in place if you want.
hey, not tryin to knock what you say because all the videos ive seen of you preach the real truth.
(simplified version), you dont have to do cardio to get ripped and show a sixpack. cardio is like turning up the furnace to burn up stored fuel. the less stored fuel one has, the leaner one will appear to be.
the same thing can be achieved just by eating less to a point where your natural furnace burns its energy stores.
cardio does not have to be synonomous with getting lean.

Hey Steve, I was reading a diet book by a highly credentialed sports medicine physician and I noticed that even he said something similar to what you said in the video about eating less calories. In the book he says to become fat adapted by lowering carbs and eating more fat for fuel, but once fat adapted, LOWER the calories to lose body fat. The book goes into much more science and detail but I just thought I should share this.
@swedd2 physicians, even if they specialize in sports med, are experts on orthopedic surgery and drugs (corticosteroids and other antiinflammatory treatments for tendonitis). They are not diet and exercise experts. They get like 1 or 2 weeks max on diet and exercise in their whole schooling. Read books by Registered Dietitians (the only medically recognized nutrition professional--requires 5 years for an RD and 2 more for an MS) and exercise physiologists. Better if they have all these creds
@jrg305 I should of been more specific, its true that physician receive very little nutrition education. Its also true that dietician are very educated in nutrition, I just hope they are not still taught the dogmatic low fat, low protein, high carb diet push by the food pyramid. Also, the physicians I'm referring to are guys like Dr. Mauro DiPasquale, Dr. Scott Connelly and Dr. Carlon Colker who are all well educated with nutrition. Dr. Mauro Dipasquale and his Metabolic Diet book is amazing.
Hello steve, i don't no whether you've seen the documentary 'I wanna look like that guy', but if you have, i would like to know your opinion on it, regarding the diet the guy was on, and is it realistic to lose that much weight in 6 months......thankyou

@aramg289 Diet is more important than exercise in your case. You're doomed if you don't get your diet under control. Find out how many calories you need to sustain your current weight using an online calculator and start eating less (200-400 calories) and see what happens over the next month. Adjust from then on. Exercise allows you to eat more.
steve i am a pro boxer and restrict calories to meet weight requirements, what best post workout shake can i consume to replenish but still lose weight...i train hard 6 days a week about an hour and a half and run in the morning 3 days a week.
Hi steve, its joetheazl. I wanna start gaining muscle. I dont know where to begin and i need some advice that you could give me to start bodybuilding. thanks steve :D Im 5'6'' and weigh 160, and im most concerned bout anerobic training than aerobic training. @davistran510 Call me this Sat morning from 9-10 am Florida time and I will answer your question on my radio show. 1340 AM Tan Talk radio 1-866-826-1340
@davistran510 To put it simply...no...you cannot be catabolic and anabolic at the same time. Your body has to be either in one direction or the other....unless you are getting noobie gains, you cannot do that. If it were that easy, every person who lifts weights would also have rippling abs....that's to put it VERY simply.
What the hell are you on about I havce personally done it along with millions of people and every single bodybuildder in the world and" If it were that easy, every person who lifts weights would also have rippling abs" makes no fucking sense whatsoever whatever way you simplify it like the guy said here abs is about dieting mostly and cardio. Basically, STFU lol
@EricB042389 No you can't be catabolic and anabolic at the same time....that's true. But having a small daily caloric deficit to lose fat is NOT catabolic. That's how bodybuilders can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. I've done this numerous times. You just have to know what the heck you're doing.
@davistran510 You can, just work your muscles, skip a day between workouts and don't do the same muscle twice in one month. You can do cardio too 3-5 days a week. Just eat right, don't under-eat. That is, eat healthy foods and eat enough of it, but still have a calorie deficit if you have fat to lose. So, eat right (calories and nutrients) and lift heavy. Anything else is gravy.
im at 10 % BF and dont have a 6 pack . i have a 4 pac that you can't even see that good .. its because i dont work on my abs like i do on my other muscles. Abs are muscles like all other that you have to work on to get them bigger.. you ever wonder why u see a girl in a bikini that is slim, but doesn't have abs, even if she is slim and probably has a low BF % she doesn't have abs like someone with more bf%. Correct me if im wrong, cardio plays a big part ..but you MUST WORK YOUR ABS ! (sit ups)

@5328379 i have an 8 pack and havent done a sit up in over 6 months.
genetics although should never be an excuse explain why you can not see your abs at 10% body fat.
abdominal training is only rely usefull for ingury prevention or for improving back and core strength however squats deadlifts and chin ups offer greater abdominal contraction than sit ups.
proof.
i cant post link but type in "best abs move t muscle chin up" into google and it is the first result.
@nojhead I agree, abs are best worked isometrically. How often do you do a crunch-like movement in real life? With things like deadlifts and standing shoulder presses, you get to put tons of pressure on your abs. Plus, you don't chew up your back like crunches can do.
It seems like these experts never talk about what we should do day to day or how we should diet in order to affect our hormones, seems like hormones are often the number 1 way to burn fat and gain muscle, but for some reason it's never important enough to talk about
@Under7891 That's because what you just said is not true. If you don't already know there’s also more great info on my BlogTalkRadio show. Go there search Steve Turano. Question: If you can already see your abs as a result of dieting and cardio, can you increase the size/tone of your abs by doing crunches? Or are all ab workouts limited to cardio benefits?
Treat your abs like any other muscle. If you want bigger abs, use weighted resistance. Weighted situps (incline if possible) or ab pulldowns on the cable machine are good exercises.
How do you get in shape cardiovascularly? I get on the treadmill at a fast walk and my heart rate is 120-125 within 10-mins, yet my buddy has to run and run hard for a while to get his heart rate up to 120. Never been able to get in shape cardiovascularly. I can lift heavy like a madman rest and grow but can't do any long distance stuff...
steve, you said that weight training and ab workout burns sugar and it wouldn't get rid of fat. when i do cardio workouts like jogging will i burn sugar too? what do i burn when running? i am bulky and i do have abs but my abs has a layer of fat and i wanna know how to get rid of it.
thanks for posting educational videos by the way.. thanks.. :)
I do have visible abs, but I want them to be more developed (bigger). would it be a good idea to do ab exersizes with weights? So far I have only done full body exersizes for the last 4 years. Squats, deadlifts, bench presses etc...I just think it looks really cool when some of the bigger people have huge abs.

Makes sense, but wouldn't training the abs for a long period of time doing different ab workouts, many sets with little 10-15 sec of rest in between, makes it a cardio that targets abs and loose maximum fat from the stomach? Or is it just training the ab muscle? Thanks Steve.
@akirakondo That would be a hard ab workout but it wouldn't burn fat. Ab training is weight training (anarobic) and that burns sugar. I believe I covered this during one of my BlgTalkRadio shows. yeah thanks i got 6 pack abs im 8% body fat 13 years old but my abs are like just in like not popped out you can still see 6 so alot of people are telling me to do like sit ups and stuff because the muscle gets bigger so its easier to see is this true? and some people are saying to stop running because i run 40 min straight a day and they said i might be burning muscle and other people are telling me to eat protein and work on abs
I'd say instead of running 40 minutes everyday, run 40 minutes maybe 2-3 days a week. The other gaps fill with explosive, tolling sprints. These sprints will get you tired fast and make your workout a lot shorter, saving time and your body. Your abs may not be showing as much as others just because of your body type; but some strength training never hurt to see!

If your skinny enough to see your abs, there is really no need for you to do cardio, due to the fact it's great for fat loss. But if your doing it to get in better shape and have better indurance that's one thing. If you have a low enough body fat percentage to see your abs, what you want to do is work your abs hard 5 times a week and eat more milk, meats, and protein bars or shakes.
@fesuma Try doing deadlifts and standing military presses once a week. This will increase your overall muscle tone of pretty much every muscle in your body plus your core muscles (abs and lower back) get stressed isometrically. Since you're so young, you might be able to get away with twice a week. Just make sure your form is good and lift heavy.

i got great abs , guess what 5 years back i did everything to get abs sit up 4 days a week nothing , then after 5 years of doing nothing i lost my bellie fat and wow i had a six pack
A word of note. Just because you can see your abs doesn't mean your fit or strong. And it certainly doesn't mean you have strong abs.

Thanks.

@BodyPerformanceTV Steve does your breathing matter when you do crunches or sit ups?
al14di 6 months ago
@al14di i hope you dont stretch before you workout or before any other exercise, first warm up your muscles, do the exercises and then stretch in the end, its when your body is warm. if you stretch up cold, you might get injured on your muscle tissues. for many people who dont know, muscle fibers are easier to extend at higher temperatures, such as any other materials, if you try to extend something thats its cold, it will brake. you get the idea but its just an advice, hope it helps ;)

Right starting tomorrow i'm planning on doing:
about 1 hour of cardio
20 sit ups, 30 second break
20 sit ups, 30 second break
10 sit ups, 2 minute break
20 sit ups, 30 second break
20 sit ups, 30 second break
10 sit ups, done (100 total)
ExoticKiller2 10 months ago
@ExoticKiller2 I think 1 hour of cardio is a little too much. I would do your sit ups and then 30 min hard interval training. My personal view on this whole six-packs issue is that having six-packs isnt as important as having a good neck, shoulders, chest and also important legs. not every girl will lift up your shirt and see if you have a six pack, but EVERY girl u talk to will see your neck, chest, legs and etc. U know wattam sayin?
rootiest 10 months ago
@rootiest
ExoticKiller2 10 months ago
@ExoticKiller2 Dude, I'm not talkin about like bodybuilding type huge muscles. Doesn't really whether its about losing fat, gaining muscle or whatever - what it really comes down to is having a good proportionate body. some people do look good with some fat and some people look unhealthy with very little fat. I see bunch of guys in the gym with HUGE chest and arms but two sticks for legs and it looks horrible. I dont have enough space to explain what "interval training" is, just google it.
rootiest 10 months ago
@rootiest I workout with weights, and i do cardio. Compared to where i started, I made great strength gains. I'm not the biggest, strongest guy in the gym, and i don't care to be. What appeals to me is the shape and fitness of professional soccer players. They typically have defined abs, very low bodyfat, and very powerful legs. For me, I want an upper body that compliments the legs, but the point being, they run alot, and they have great fitness.

I have a very healthy diet and do cardio cycling at least 4 times a week. I have lost weight and feel good about it, (I'm 158 height and 111 lbs) but I still can't get rid of my tummy :( Should I start doing sit ups and that kind of exercises to burn that fat? or should I loose more weight?
beaktoria 11 months ago
@beaktoria Increase Your cardio, and watch you calories intake vs calories burn, as You create a deficit You'll start burning that extra fat around your waist, I usually run 3 or 4 times a week for 30minutes, I burn an average of 500 calories, do abs 3 times a week (plank) and work out, I have about 2000 calorie diet, but I burn about 2500 to 3000 calories a day. hope it help
katrachosps 11 months ago
@beaktoria Sit ups are great for firming and toning your stomach and you should definitely do them. But they will not burn fat. Fat losss come from creating a calorie deficit by either eating less or doing for cardio like walking or jogging.
BodyPerformanceTV 11 months ago
@BodyPerformanceTV
Heavy weights engaged through large muscle groups seam to give me great results int erms of weight loss.
aliderhamy 10 months ago
@beaktoria The reason you cant lose that last bit of fat, is because your body is in survival mode. Your body is simply not getting enough sugar, water and oils (fat and vegetable oils), and therfor its storing it around your waste for times when it might need it (starvation). We're talking about small amounts ofcours. You can get fat/vegetable oils from lots of sources, most commonly in all kinds of nuts. Drink 1-2 liters of water every day, depending on how much youre doing. Its easy.
rookie2202 10 months ago
Is this the same to lose fats around the waist??
mhcampboy 11 months ago
i have a question,
now i know that the burn feeling is cause from the production of the by product lactic acid. now higher lactate threshold you have, the more your body relies on fat and sugar to burn for fuel, so does that not mean that the later you feel that burn feeling (anaerobic exercise) the more fat you burn ?
mhd86 11 months ago
@mhd86 burning sugar causes lactic acid.
BodyPerformanceTV 11 months ago
@mhd86 sort of man. im not an expert but ive seen a man whos lactic acid doesnt raise over the normal amount youd have just sitting on your coach. and he is in unbelievable shape. your muscles take the fat for energy and burn it straight to more muscle. im not saying youll go from morbidly obese to jacked in a week. but ya

I recently read somewhere that as almonds contain estrogen they can contribute toward Gynecomastia (man boobs), are you able to shed any light on this?
Also, is it really true that someone can achieve a six pack? Can genetics prevent them or can damned hard work and dedication get you there?

@boywunder343 I did answer part of your question. I receive 100's a day. Any type of cardio will cause weight loss. Walking, jogging, eliptical, biking, etc. Walking and jogging would be best.
BodyPerformanceTV 1 year ago
@boywunder343 The type of cardio doesn't matter. The only reason to do cardio to see abs is because it is an effective way to burn calories. You have to watch your diet too. Just create a calorie deficit and keep it up. This will cause you to drop body fat and eventually you'll start to see your abs.
eurohim 1 year ago
I have seen skinny people with jiggling bellies and sagging skin hanging off their knees and ankles. What is that?
spy153 1 year ago
@spy153 It depends. If you lose a lot of weight really fast, you'll likely get loose skin. As you get older your skin loses elasticity. You can only get rid of that with surgery.

I'm sorry I don't know what kind of excersise that is!
WhereNoFanHasGoneB4 1 year ago

BodyPerformanceTV 1 year ago
@WhereNoFanHasGoneB4 Anything you can do for long periods of time (15 minutes to over an hour) that raises your heart rate over 55% of your maximum heart rate. The higher the better, of course, but you have to keep it up for a period of time. Like Like Steve said, the most common are walking, jogging, etc. You can also hop in place if you want.
eurohim 1 year ago
hey, not tryin to knock what you say because all the videos ive seen of you preach the real truth.
(simplified version), you dont have to do cardio to get ripped and show a sixpack. cardio is like turning up the furnace to burn up stored fuel. the less stored fuel one has, the leaner one will appear to be.
the same thing can be achieved just by eating less to a point where your natural furnace burns its energy stores.
cardio does not have to be synonomous with getting lean.
sqwis 1 year ago
@sqwis That is true. All that matters is that you create a calorie deficit. However, this is done MUCH easier with cardio.

The book goes into much more science and detail but I just thought I should share this.
swedd2 1 year ago
@swedd2 physicians, even if they specialize in sports med, are experts on orthopedic surgery and drugs (corticosteroids and other antiinflammatory treatments for tendonitis). They are not diet and exercise experts. They get like 1 or 2 weeks max on diet and exercise in their whole schooling. Read books by Registered Dietitians (the only medically recognized nutrition professional--requires 5 years for an RD and 2 more for an MS) and exercise physiologists. Better if they have all these creds
jrg305 1 year ago
@jrg305 I should of been more specific, its true that physician receive very little nutrition education. Its also true that dietician are very educated in nutrition, I just hope they are not still taught the dogmatic low fat, low protein, high carb diet push by the food pyramid. Also, the physicians I'm referring to are guys like Dr. Mauro DiPasquale, Dr. Scott Connelly and Dr. Carlon Colker who are all well educated with nutrition. Dr. Mauro Dipasquale and his Metabolic Diet book is amazing.

Thanks for the info on this. Unfortunately for me, I was one of those people that thought that lean abs could only come from doing sit-ups.

The big question....How much do u have to Weigh if u want to see your abs for a person that is 5 ft 9 inches
zyrstn 1 year ago
@zyrstn Go by bodyfat. The lower, the more detail, but basically it is males 10% or less and females umm something like 16% or less.

EricB042389 1 year ago
@EricB042389
403766 1 year ago
@EricB042389 No you can't be catabolic and anabolic at the same time....that's true. But having a small daily caloric deficit to lose fat is NOT catabolic. That's how bodybuilders can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. I've done this numerous times. You just have to know what the heck you're doing.
brushfour44 1 year ago

(sit ups)

@5328379 i have an 8 pack and havent done a sit up in over 6 months.
genetics although should never be an excuse explain why you can not see your abs at 10% body fat.
abdominal training is only rely usefull for ingury prevention or for improving back and core strength however squats deadlifts and chin ups offer greater abdominal contraction than sit ups.
proof.
i cant post link but type in "best abs move t muscle chin up" into google and it is the first result.
nojhead 1 year ago
@nojhead I agree, abs are best worked isometrically. How often do you do a crunch-like movement in real life? With things like deadlifts and standing shoulder presses, you get to put tons of pressure on your abs. Plus, you don't chew up your back like crunches can do.
eurohim 1 year ago
It seems like these experts never talk about what we should do day to day or how we should diet in order to affect our hormones, seems like hormones are often the number 1 way to burn fat and gain muscle, but for some reason it's never important enough to talk about

Question: If you can already see your abs as a result of dieting and cardio, can you increase the size/tone of your abs by doing crunches? Or are all ab workouts limited to cardio benefits?
NyloStar 1 year ago
@NyloStar
Treat your abs like any other muscle. If you want bigger abs, use weighted resistance. Weighted situps (incline if possible) or ab pulldowns on the cable machine are good exercises.
SaintPatrick33 1 year ago
@SaintPatrick33 THAT is TRUE!! Abs are a muscle like any other.

Thanks Steve.
akirakondo 1 year ago
@akirakondo That would be a hard ab workout but it wouldn't burn fat. Ab training is weight training (anarobic) and that burns sugar. I believe I covered this during one of my BlgTalkRadio shows. Go there search & Steve Turano. The show can also be downloaded from iTunes. The most recent shows can also be heard on my website home page (at the bottom) once they upload. Tell a friend! ~Steve

yeah thanks i got 6 pack abs im 8% body fat 13 years old but my abs are like just in like not popped out you can still see 6 so alot of people are telling me to do like sit ups and stuff because the muscle gets bigger so its easier to see is this true? and some people are saying to stop running because i run 40 min straight a day and they said i might be burning muscle and other people are telling me to eat protein and work on abs
fesuma 1 year ago
@fesuma

@fesuma
If your skinny enough to see your abs, there is really no need for you to do cardio, due to the fact it's great for fat loss. But if your doing it to get in better shape and have better indurance that's one thing. If you have a low enough body fat percentage to see your abs, what you want to do is work your abs hard 5 times a week and eat more milk, meats, and protein bars or shakes.
brigs369 1 year ago
Don't stop running, body building rules don't apply when you're 13.
You're going through puberty.
You're not going to look fully mature until you, well, mature.
Flexibility and endurance exercise now will give your body the foundation to become the best athlete you can be in a few years.
monkeytwineball 1 year ago
@fesuma Try doing deadlifts and standing military presses once a week. This will increase your overall muscle tone of pretty much every muscle in your body plus your core muscles (abs and lower back) get stressed isometrically. Since you're so young, you might be able to get away with twice a week. Just make sure your form is good and lift heavy.
