  • man, it's really rare to find people who enjoy happy music, people think that violins are only for sad music and sound best at it, but no, violins can be happy too, and here's an example ^. :)

  • Justin Bieber.

  • @DriverLim dude wtf

  • QUEL ARTISTE FABULEUX, L EMOTION PASSE, LA GRACE EST LA...

  • Yo creo que este hombre no es humano!!! Es imposible!!!!

  • This is beautiful thanks for posting

  • 0:57-1:11 legit sounds like there's two players

  • i love this piece so much!! very impressive performance

  • He makes it seems to easy!

  • He it seems too easy!

  • even tho its shitty vhs quality you can tell he has wicked tone. especially the main theme parts

  • ... this is a most important video ... .

  • escucho esta musica y mi alma siente una alegria incomparable!!!

  • Perlman is the most powerful and charismatic concertist. He projects a genial, magnetic personality and has a way of making audiences hang on his every note and word. His phrasing over long lyrical lines, with understated dynamics and a gorgeous legato, is capable of wringing the last drop of emotion from the simplest music. And he is my favorite VIOLINIST.

  • I love this piece so much that I tried playing it last night and failed miserably :'(

  • @codenamewanda i started playing it and it was all fine until near the last half page lol, too many double stops there for me to handle

  • @codenamewanda I remember first hearing this. I heard it in an "Neon Genesis Evangelion" 'soundtrack'. After hearing it, I set off on what turned out to be a 2-month quest to learn it. Quite learnable. Just gotta stick with it.

  • @codenamewanda Don't feel bad codenamewanda . . . . The Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin are among the most difficult pieces to play . . . regardless of period or composer . . . it takes an absolute master to play these pieces with the passion and perfection required . . . My two favorite artists for these pieces are Heifetz and Sergio Lucca . . . but Perlman is incredible as well . . . and of course I love Menuhin!

  • The man can't walk without crutches, folks. And he certainly can't play standing. He has to sit to play. And he's one of my idols. Maybe not the most brilliant, many have been better, but his emotive style is how I approach my own playing.

  • he plays it the best :)

  • how is he standing?

  • He is standing on his legs!! :)

He had polio when he was 4 years old.

  • He is sitting on a chair.

  • he's not, if you pause at 1:54 , you can see him sitting on the chair.

  • He is not.

  • he's not, if you pause at 1:54 , you can see him sitting on the chair.

  • Many thanks, bladerunner1004 !

  • Which part of the Partita No.3 in E is this ? Can anyone enlighten me ? Is it, perhaps, the Gavotte en rondeau ... ?

  • Yes. It is Gavotte.

  • @saxonfield3 yes, it is the gavotte en rondeau

  • I love this composition of Bach! I find myself trying to sing it, but there are no words!

IMO Bach has the best violin compositions. Especially his violin concertos.

    Perlman is great as always.

  • Not my favorite piece... oh and hes the common equivilant to god when it comes to violin, every violinist knows who he is. And depending on how old this video is, his violin is worth about 3 million dollars, he's one of the few violinists who owns an stradivarius violin.

  • His use of legato and slides for Bach is interesting, and suits this piece well.

  • Master!!! Thanks for posting!

  • It reminds one of an ode, or rather a salute to everything that`s positive and beautiful.

    Bravo Maestro Itzhak Perlman!

  • it's kind of rude to ask this but really I don't know does Itzhak perlman has feet? I heard that he can't walk or something I am just making sure.

  • He contracted polio aged 4 but recovered well. He gets around now with the use of crutches but performs sitting down. I think he just wears stabilizer's on his legs but i've often wondered if one or both of his feet were amputated (i'm no medic i'm not familiar with treatment's for polio in the mid-20th century) because it's hard to tell.

  • He has both of his legs and feet..his legs are paralyzed because of the polio and he must wear braces on his legs. As you can see from earlier videos he used to be able to stand a little better than he can now--sometimes the muscles get a little weaker as one gets older. I know a couple of people who had polio as a child as well.

  • this didn't go where it was supposed to...(someone asked if he has amputations)

  • ClassicStein--

He has wooden legs . . . but REAL FEET!!!

  • ??????

  • you mean like the whole leg is wood and his feet is real?

  • ClassicStein--

Yes, that's what I meant. And, in a joking kind of way. I wish I could take credit for the joke, but it's an old Stephen Wright one-liner.

  • LOL! he looks like he's standing at 0:16 haha!

  • how old is Itzhak Perlman?

  • 63 i think

  • Itzhak Perlman (born August 31, 1945...

  • quite brilliant indeed..bravo!

  • So clear and precise. Brilliant!

  • Absolutely incredible. It still sounds good even if it was VHS. Thanks!

  • let's see you play it! Obviously you're a lot better than him!

  • YOU MUST BE INSANE :)

  • wow fantastic! thanx 4 posting.

  • only Perlman is able to play in the top of the bow and take out such a wonderful sound ( and not talking about the incredible bow control )

  • Actually Heifetz can do it as well... They are both brilliant!

  • thanks for posting!!!

  • awesome
