  • It's funny you illustrate this music with archive photos from the early 20th century. This piece of music was (before Prospero's Books) composed for a historical exhibition in Paris -- this piece of music was intended to depict the calamitous World War 1 scenes in early 20th century newsreels.

  • @shitsumeilegumovitch: What does that mean? Did Michael Nyman not write this music? I do believe he did... this certainly was not written before 1950.

  • @snogger6 He meant that the inspiration for that piece of music was WW1, and it was composed (by Nyman) for an exibition , but it wasn't composed for the movie, but merely featured in it. He merely commented on the fact that the imagery chosen coincides with the original goal of the music, either by luck, or because the music is so expressive that he automatically chose it according to the music.

  • @theholk AHhh ok, I get it. Really cool music... I saw this movie when I was quite young and this piece always stuck with me. Great to hear it again.
