  • Preciosa canción. Excelente!!!

  • Beautiful enough to make you cry.

  • Great, great, great. On the album it's called "Lambs on the Greenfields".

  • How could anyone not like this magical

  • @64cumo I agree. You almost have to believe there are 2 types of humans. How can you not like this?

  • Wow. Wow, Wow! Beyond amazing

  • TRULY magical voice of the fabolous emmy lou backed by paddy moloney and his crew of wizards ! beautiful . check out emmy lou from the mid 70s with the hot band wow !!!

  • My favorite bar in Baltimore used to have bluegrass bands and Irish bands every week. We all loved the same music; it all fit together hand in glove. Often one band would have the other band's musicians sit in. Each knew the others' songs, and all were great friends. If you're in Fells Point, go to the Cat's Eye Pub, see if they still do that. I'm away now, but I miss 'em.

  • Just where dose it stop, great stuff from the irish.

  • I can think of no one in Country Music that has studied the roots of our music more than has Emmy Lou Harris. And yes she does have Irish blood in her family tree. I know that when the Chieftains came to Nashville for this project Emmy Lou was thrilled beyond words to be invited to perform on it; this video shows why.

  • Do I detect Jerry Douglas playing slide guitar very tastefully on this - it certainly has the right sounds for him ! - Never mind all the "She`s not irish and can`t do this" jibes - has anybody ever watched the great BBC show dedicated to Scottish, Irish and American musicians - Was brilliant, and just goes to show that all the cultures music can combine to make a fantastic whole when they all come together and just play the music that has been handed down from each generation to the next.

  • What a classy act !

  • her voice is sweet and wild, as always the chieftains find a way to blend their sound with some other great musician in a very good way; she is seeking country roots, i think...

  • I always loved Emmylou. This is a brilliant redering of The Lambs on the green hills.

    It's beautiful.

    The Rambling Man

  • She sends chills up my spine, and gives me goose bumps!

  • Celtic music has had such an influence here in the States.I could listen to this while driving in the countryside for hours.God bless the Irish!!

  • @wizardwarriordrone you should probably continue on and keep fucking yourself,...cuz likely your hand is all you can find..

  • beautiful

  • Lovely, beautiful, wistful music

  • That was inspirational to listen to.

  • Breathtaking...

  • gullin667

youre missing the point. Its the Celtic connection between Scotland, Ireland, Gallicia Wales, Brittany and America that the Chieftains are looking for. Its quite wrong to look for divergance when they are trying to look for similarity

  • Emmylou is a great singer singing here with a great group, the chieftains. Sweet music. thank you.

  • She is a good singer, but . . .

The version from Pauline Scanlon is way better! Unfortunately, you won't find it here.

Only an American could make a Scottish song out of an Irish song!

    Bloody "Plastic Paddies"! ; - )

  • @FJYardley I always thought she was one of the if not THE most beautiful woman in music with a voice to match. She had silver hair even when she was very young, very fetching.

  • beautiful

  • Wonderful stuff, thanks for posting this one up.

  • Wonderful! Thank you so much, such talent all in one place , Thanks again for posting.

  • With a name like Harris............theres gotta be a bit of Taffy there !'

    Luvlee......inshe !

  • Lyrically, this is very like the Scottish song, 'I Once Loved a Lass.'

    Beautiful performance!

  • she is the most beautiful woman alive. I cherish every every song she has sung.

  • Jerry, Emmy Lou and the Chieftons.........this is soooooo great!!!

  • She's as beautiful as she was thirty years ago and so is her voice. The Chieftains have a way of complimenting other singers. Another beautiful woman with a beautiful voice that has done several songs with them is Sinead O'Conner.

  • Following the YouTube related videos trail between M. Ward, Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, the Chieftains, etc., leads to hours and hours of amazing music!

  • For yet more amazement, may I suggest also:

Patty Griffin, Iris DeMent, Cara Dillon, Julie Fowlis,

The Dubliners, Steve Earle, Allison Moorer.

(Since you've already named some of my all-time favorites.)

    Great sport, eh?

  • may I add...mary black and delores keane, with whom emmylou has done several trios...:-)

  • @phinchy yeah!....how great is this???...

  • u can have SO much fun ... with me c

  • Where did this performance occur? Thanks for posting all these, tarodnet.

  • Simply beautiful. Gives me goose bumps.

  • Let me post something that has nothing to do with this song, but with Emmylou and the chieftains.

Earlier there has been a video of Emmylou and the Chieftains when recording 'Nobody's darling but mine'. Now I cannot find it! Has it been dropped from Youtube? Does anyone have it and if so, will you please post/repost it. This is the second time a real gem is gone missing for me on Youtube. Are the least viewed videos of recent dropped or what?

  • Maybe copyright infringement?

  • Maybe copyright infringement?

  • You can find it on my favorite list. I just adore the bass player.

  • By "straight"i mean not sung in a voice dripping with sentiment and "sincerity"like the song eqiv.of an awful tv movie actress.I heard this song many years ago sung by an Irishman to a simple piano accompaniment, understatement and irony were the order of the day, much to the song's advantage. This track may be included in oss9 tape but i'm not sure.Anyway, best wishes mudpiegirl.

  • Though i'm almost afraid to strike a discordant note, i'm going to anyway.I think she murders this lovely old song. The more a song is,of itself, sentimental the more it should be sung "straight".Emmylou and too many other(mostly female)singers have never quite grasped this.

  • I'm not sure I understand what you mean by straight? Do you mean straightforward, or something else? Anyway, Emmylou is one of the most restrained of performers, so if you're talking about something like that, I certainly don't agree. But to each his own.

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT !!

  • Amazing...

  • Beautiful music !!!

  • Brilliant musicianship, one of the greatest singers in the world and a beautiful song. What more could anyone ask for?

  • Beautiful!

  • This song has great meaning to me.

As my mother finally succombed to cancer,

her last breaths were taken while this song played.

Beautiful song .. thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful, I love these Celtic/Country crossovers.

  • wonderful sounds! :)

  • W O W ! fantastic, such heart and passion given to a song.

  • Heart-rending. What a gorgeous lady, so attractive, and her voice from out of this world, with the world class Chieftains. And she sings one of the most mystifying and enchanting Irish songs of unfulfilled love, you can really melt away here.

  • Emmylou is a fox!!

  • she has always been sexy sexy

  • Ascoltarvi è come sentire il soffio del vento. siete ispirazione

  • I love Emmylou and the Chieftains. Together -- my, my! Thanks for posting this!

  • c'est magnifique

  • The voice of an Angel.

  • vaya union. extraordinario

  • never heard anything nicer patsy

  • beautiful flowing musicians...very sweet

  • Can anyone tell me how to get the hairs on the back of my neck back down.

    Wow

  • how can this be bettered

  • WOW,

    REAL MAGIC!!

  • Agree with padraig!

  • This whole show was filled with nothing but better and better music, one after the other. This is just the frosting on the cake, as far as I'm concerned... Just a treasure!

  • This is so BEAUTYFUL when you know "how hard" is it to sing this ! in the real tradition as is it here... you could swear that Emmylou Harris was born, raised, and learn to sing somewhere around DUBLIN ! no kidding.

  • That was beautiful. Her voice completely complimented an already great group of musicians.

  • A wonderful cover of a traditional Irish ballad

  • this prooves Emmylous vocals abilitys! very strong voice

  • Emmylou and the Chieftains. Can't get any better than this

  • The link between celtic and country. I love
